TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Moose didn't have it, Villone didn't have it, Edwar didn't have it, and now Henn doesn't have it. I just hope Joba doesn't get wasted in this mess in an attempt to chew up the remaining innings. But Joe isn't that dumb.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 I just posted this in CS, but for the benefit of those that dont read anything there..I just made a startling revelation! The Orioles have played John Denver's "Thank God Im a Country Boy" at the 7th inning stretch for as long as I can remember, it goes back to the days of Mark Bellanger because his wife liked the song. John Denver died October 12, 1997. The Orioles lost the next game they played in OPACY (Game 6 of the ALCS on October 15, losing the Series to the Indians) and have never had a .500 season since. Its the Curse of John Denver!
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 When a reporter asked Jimmy Rollins if the Phillies were the "MacGyver" of baseball, a reference to the 1985-92 television show starring Richard Dean Anderson as an extremely resourceful secret agent, Rollins laughed. "Yeah, with duct tape and Motrin," Rollins said. "We'll just keep finding ways to get it done." Got tix for 3 of the 4 Phils/Mets games! The one game I didn't get tickets for, stupidly (at the time) was the Monday opener, which would've been Hamels starting. Fucking injuries! And whoever said Charlie Manuel deserves MOTY, that was funny. As if Manuel has made one productive move this year (His bullpen use is comical, not the shittyness of the bullpen, his swapping in and out of said shit or taking starters out WAY too early, not to mention idiotic line-up combos, keeping Iguchi at second at bat, keeping Roward below Burrell, moving Rollins around, not benching Howard a game after blatantly dipshit at-bats, there's endless things here...). The Phillies offense is what keeps them treading water, let's be real here.
Guest Soriano's Torn Quad Report post Posted August 22, 2007 I'd just like to point out that Hunter Pence has played less games than Ryan Braun at this point fewer games than Ryan Braun , so that argument isn't exactly the best. Granted, Brauns numbers are better, Maybe YOUR argument isn't exactly the best if you undermine yourself in the next sentence but Pence plays a solid centerfield (only two errors) where centerfield is a mother fucking hill. Like it or not, fielding is sort of an afterthought in things like this, where voters and fans look at the numbers. Center is higher on the defensive spectrum than third, yes, and there is a goofy-ass gimmick in center at the goofy-ass gimmick park, true, but Ryan Braun is hitting the holy fuck out of seemingly everything he sees. He's also on my fantasy team, so he's automatically amazing. I'd be perfectly happy if Congress banned fantasy sports. One of the more insufferable developments in how we analyze and appreciate team games. Please don't add any more curses to the sports landscape. They're just dumb. Trust me, I'd know.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2007 Dave Trembley will get the Os manager job in 2008.. Probably because no one else in their right mind wanted it. That's exactly what I thought when I heard the news listening to Toronto-Oakland this afternoon. I think I said something similar back when he was hired as the interim manager after they fired Perlozzo, that they wouldnt be able to find anyone who wanted the job and Trembley would end up staying. Then they removed the interim tag for the rest of the year and I knew this was going to eventually happen. I dont mind it at all really though, as it seems that hes a really great manager and he put 20 years in the minors to get here. Hell, the Os are playing better in the 2nd half than they have done over the past few seasons and have positioned themselves for a run at .500 which alone would be a huge improvement and a sign that change is happening. Plus they are beating the Yankees and Red Sox and will have some influence on who wins that race/wild card race. .. Also, I cant wait for the "Hi, Im Erik Bedard, thats Erik..with a K..as in strikeout..and thats what Im going to be doing to the rest of the league in 2008" promos that MASN needs to do for next year...with his silly Canadian Accent. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2007 Watch em score 30 more in the 2nd game haha.. The record for most runs scored in a doubleheader is 54. Texas scored 16 runs in the 8th inning vs the Orioles back in 1996 which is a record for most runs in the 8th.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2007 As an Orioles fan, here is my opinion on todays score: At least this bunch will be in the record book for something. If you can't go in as the best, might as well go in as the laughing stock of baseball. Plus, it was kinda fun to watch. I don't know why, it just was.
