The OaO ECW thread for October 16 2007.

CM Punk & a mystery partner Vs John Morrison, Big Daddy Mabel And The Miz.

That's from the preview for tonight, anyway.

It's good to see Morrison back, him and Punk do some good magic.

Partner = Balls?

Obviously, no way they'd waste Jericho on ECW. And Balls doesn't strike me as someone worth hyping as a mystery partner. It could be someone new debuting in ECW...

That said, it'll probably be Balls or Dreamer.

In case it's lost in internet translation, my prediction was not serious.

If it were Balls or Dreamer, you'd think they'd just say so, but "mystery partner" adds intrigue. Rule of thumb though, anyone worth advertising as a major name would usually be advertised as such, not a question mark.

I think pretty much whenever ECW has had a "mystery man" it ends up being someone on the active roster. It would be nice if they'd freshen things up and bring in a new face or two.

You know who'd be good? Harry Smith, even if they just have him in ECW for a little bit before getting traded to RAW or something.

Choices are:

Likely:

Boogeyman

Balls Mahoney

Tommy Dreamer

Unlikely:

Stevie Richards

Nunzio

No Chance:

Mike Knox

Matt Striker

Kevin Thorn

Elijah Burke

Kelly Kelly

Brooke

It seems Balls will probably have his own little thing with Miz so he might be, or may be added for a six-man/interfere.

Looks like someone debuting in ECW.

My money is on Paul Birchill.

WWE.com has learned that several meetings have taken place between Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada that, if ratified, would allow SmackDown and ECW Superstars to compete on Tuesday and Friday nights.

I guess that throws the whole field wide open.

How about Idol Stevens?

EDIT: Translation of the last post: Our rosters are rail thin and as such, we're ending one of the brand splits.

Heh, I guess it was a matter of time, and it makes sense since they're usually taped on the same schedule anyway. Guess we can get ready to see CM Punk on Friday nights now.

According to Rajah.com the mystery partner is supposed to be

the newly-traded-to-ECW: Kane

Also, anyone else think this whole "open-door" thing is WWE's way of eventually killing-off ECW to permanently merge it with Smackdown?

That is a rather odd choice

Well, he had to combat the size of BDV. Kane was the logical choice.

Also, that's not a shoot. A shoot would have been saying everyone hates Striker for being a moron.
