I call foul, Pizza Hut's Game Face. You have to wait at least until the final whistle of the Monday night game to start next week's thread. You may feel that you've gotten the glory here, but it will be forever tainted by an asterisk of shame and illegitimacy and shame.

One of the board's greatest posters has engaged in a variety of acts which have stained the forum, and he must now live with the consequences of those acts.

Also, the NFL is missing from the thread title. And no mention of THE LEAGUE? Please.

Gonna be at the Jets/Dolphins game this weekend. First NFL game I've been to in about ten years and it'll probably be the Dolphins first win of the season. Ah well.

I have no idea how Chicago is going to do this week. They're at home again, but Grossman is still the worst starting QB in the league, they can't stop the run, their secondary is blowing plays, and they have no running game to speak of. Fortunately, Eli is inconsistent as fuck, and Coughlin might be the only coach not named Norv who is dumb enough to kick to Hester at this point. New York has a good pass rush, and Grossman completely crumbles when pressed, ten times out of ten. I'll favor the Giants, but either team winning wouldn't surprise me.

Chicago has to find something, ANYTHING to hang their hat on offensively. Fuckin' pitch it to Wolfe five or six times, or try him on a few draws. Down to two backs, they can't afford to hold anything or anyone back at this point in the season. Give Hester the damn ball on offense. Play Orton, fucking SCORE already.

I dont know what the ps on the game will be for the Pats (-28? -30? Vegas may have learned their lesson last night and it might be less than 20?) but the Ravens wont lose by that much. If A.J. Feeley can play as well as he did last night, I think Boller can do close to that.

Either way, it's a hell of an important game since beating the Giants will be crucial to staying in the wildcard hunt. They would still have to have New York lose a game, though.

I wasn't sure if I should do predictions (the illegitimate thread!) but here goes anyway.

Thursday Night:

Packers @ Cowboys: Favre has never, ever in the history of the world won in Dallas. This will be a great game though and thankfully Insight here has upgraded NFL Network to HD. Dallas by 4, but the Packers give them the ultimate payback in Jan.

Early Sunday:

Detroit @ Minnesota: I think the Lions might be toast at this point. Vikings by 6.

Seattle @ Philadelphia: Philly always tends to make some half assed stand, but somehow I think they fired their shot against NE and didn't win. Seattle by 1.

San Diego @ Kansas City: Brodie Croyle is...bleh. I know the Chiefs won in SD earlier but surely the Chargers won lose to them twice. SD by 7.

NY Jets @ Miami: Can you feel it baby? First win of the season for the Dolphins! Miami by 3.

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis: Jacksonville is the NFL's equivalent to Owen Hart, the nugget that won't go all the way down the toilet. Colts finally get back on track totally and win by 10.

San Francisco @ Carolina: Panthers just look like crap lately. If Dilfer keeps it going the Niners may well win this one. SF by 3.

Houston @ Tennessee: The Titans need a win badly right now, but I am hesitant to pick them. Ah well....Tenn. by 5.

Atlanta @ Saint Louis: The Rams are at least playing better, even though they blew it vs. Seattle. STL by 8.

Buffalo @ Washington: The jobber roll is over for the Bills. Redskins get sorta back on track and win by 7.

Late Sunday:

Cleveland @ Arizona: This is just one of those games where you know the Browns will find some way to fuck it up and sabotage a potentially good year. Arizona by 2.

Denver @ Oakland: Denver is a perplexing team but I would think they can get by the Raiders unless they completely suck. Broncos by 6.

NY Giants @ Chicago: Most baffling game of the day, and very well the worst QB matchup of the day as well. I think the Giants are in full 2nd half swoon mode, so I'll take Chicago by 7.

Tampa Bay @ New Orleans: The Bucs don't really rock my world, and I just can't help but think the Saints have a run in them. Saints by 4.

Sunday Night:

Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh: Bengals are doing a bit better but the Steelers should still be too much at home. Pittsburgh by 9.

Monday Night:

Patriots @ Ravens: I'm not so sure now. The Ravens simply can't score enough to win this though, even if the D shows up. Patriots by 13.

Cedric Benson is done for the year. I understood the intent, but trading Thomas Jones turned out to be a horrible mistake.

Thomas Jones isn't having a very good year for the Jets, and I can't imagine he would've had a good year behind Fred Miller and Olin Kreutz. There was no real happy ending for the Bears' running game, no matter how you slice it: Jones is in decline, Benson isn't very good, Peterson is only just average, and Wolfe is not an NFL player.

As much as we have RB problems I would hope Bears solve the QB problem in the draft first. There should be a nice array of RBs available including Mike Hart, Steve Slaton, Ian Johnson, etc.

Watch them take a D-Lineman in the 1st round.

To the poster who asked if Benson was that bad, I point out that the Bears are dead last in the league in ypc.

He's worse than that stat denotes. Down on first contact on EVERY play. Slow through the handoff, and NEVER in stride at the line.

This is now a Bears page in the thread.

The fuck are they going to do about a QB next season? I mean seriously. The answer does not involve Grossman, Griese, or Orton. Draft for one? I hear McNabb mentioned before, but I don't want him either.

Is Lorenzen worth a shit? He's fucking gigantic and ugly. That's a Chicago Bear.

Lorenzen isn't an answer and they might be able to find a steal in the late rounds of the draft for running back or quarterback. Derek Anderson will be available, Daunte Culpepper I'm sure, David Carr is doing everything he can to get cut but he seems to be worthless, and if they get really desperate then Chad Pennington looks to be a dead man walking in New York.

Even with the veterans available, it's going to be a crap shoot. You have the question of whether this is a fluke season for Anderson or is he really this good? Is Culpepper finally coming back to 100%? And does Pennington have one more year left in him that enables the Bears to groom a draft pick?

Options are there for sure though.
