Im guessing the Ravens wont get any prime time games on the schedule next year unless its a flex game pick on NBC late in the season.

 

Speaking of such, the Pats last game vs the Giants is on..NFL Network! Thats obviously when they'll lose since no one will get to see it, so it obviously didnt happen.

Generally speaking when a team should/could have lost two games in a row and still remain unbeaten that means that they probably won't lose. The Steelers are their last real test and after two close calls I expect them to win by about 10 next week, then 3 TDs or more against the Jets, Dolphins and Giants.

I already called Miami over NE a few pages ago, haha. Anyway this is getting downright sickening. The Ravens did about 10 different dumbass things on that last drive, including the incomprehensible timeout, letting Brady scramble for a 1st down, and the obviously bogus penalty that kept the game alive (Miami vs. OSU anyone?).

 

My advice to the Patriots is this: Lose next week. I've seen teams play like this before and a loss is the exact thing they need right now to get refocused. The more they walk the tightrope week after week, the bigger the fall will come.

 

Is there any doubt that the Colts will trounce the Ravens on Sunday? How could the Ravens possibly get back up for that game?

Another note: Now I know why the MNF crew gets so much grief. Holy shit was that just unlistenable at times. Especially Kornheiser's flip-flop:

 

Ravens take the lead in the first quarter = "You know, maybe this is the night New England loses."

 

New England cuts the lead to 4 in the 4th = "You know, it's almost inevitable that New England wins this."

 

Pittsburgh must be salivating facing this team after a Monday night game. Should be a glorious game.

The other two weren't much better. The long pause and then disappointment after Gostkowski's kick should tell anyone who they were cheering for tonight.

Sports radio in Baltimore is going to be spectacular tomorrow morning. Once Boller threw the pick in Patriots territory, nothing went right at all for Baltimore. In one game, the worst timeout ever, Bart Scott, and 2 yards short. I'm sad that Billick isn't able to give an intense, Dennis Green level tirade about blowing every possible opportunity to win the game.

 

If anybody takes New England now, as unlikely as it is, I hope it's a winless Dolphins team for the greatest double history eraser ever.

It is in baltimore and if you didnt get the memo, the Colts hate in Baltimore is pretty big so the crowd will be as loud as it was tonight.

 

IF they play like the did tonight but ease up on the dumb penalties, they could beat a Marvin Harrison-less Colts team but as it is they'll probably lose.

 

Im still doubting they win another game the rest of the way unless they find a way to beat Miami (Indy/Seattle/Miami/Pittsburgh)

 

A 4-12/5-11 finish after starting 4-2 should get billick fired.

If Billick or whoever doesn't call The Worst Timeout In Recorded History, the last four minutes would never have happened. The refs *really* need to have some concrete guidelines to call these 5-yard defensive holding penalties though; maybe they should actually say what happened to cause the penalty in the announcement to the crowd (like "Holding, 23, defense, grabbing the receiver's shoulder past five yards").

Yeah no way Pats go undefeated if they've squeaked it out the last two weeks against a team that was starting a journeyman backup QB and a team that was starting a failed first round draft pick at QB. I think they lose to Pittsburgh next week. If the Pats does beat the Steelers, then I'll be sold on them.

 

I don't know if you're serious or not, but if it takes them beating the Steelers for you to be sold on them...c'mon, you're being sarcastic right? If they does beat the Steelers that is. If you're talking about believing in them going undefeated, well that's far too risky to figure out. As we've seen from the past two weeks anything can happen. They blew out an MVP-calibre QB and top NFC team in Dallas on the road yet they struggled against a journeyman QB playing for the mediocre Eagles at home. This stuff is too random, it's professional sports. Even if they beat the Steelers, I still won't be convinced that they go undefeated. Something like that, which has never happened before in a sixteen game season, seems far too hard to predict accurately.

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out why the Pats have struggled the last two weeks -- they went up against two teams with a good pass rush that could put pressure on Brady. They didn't face anything like that in the first ten weeks, either because of lack of personnel or poor game-planning. Pittsburgh has the number-one pass defence in the NFL, and they will definitely give them a game next week. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see them win it.

So basically every Ravens defensive player is yelling conspiracy all over TV. I think their biggest support probably came inadvertantly from Randy Moss who said the refs weren't making that holding call all game and then in the 4th quarter finally made "the right call". The players have to get a sense of what's going to be called and what isn't in the first 59 minutes of the game to know what they can and can't do.

I like Kornheiser in his other ventures, but he's just so out of his element on this one, and I think he knows it, like you said. I get that they were trying to go populist with the booth to recapture the general entertainment feel of Monday Night Football, but I think it's clear that the new Monday Night Football is not the old one, and they'd be better served going with game-film wonks like Ron Jaworski. Tony just isn't a good fit.

 

Terrible officiating last night, by the way. The Ravens have every right to complain about that shit. Why do you hope "Goodell tells them to shut the hell up," Chris? You don't think in your heart of hearts that those guys got a raw deal? Don't be a second-rate limp-noodle Patriots cheerleader. That was crap.

There was one very bad call, with the defensive holding at the end of the game. The Gaffney catch is debatable, but my feeling is that he had possession of the ball in-bounds, and the slight bobble didn't constitute lack of possession. I'm blanking on the name of Baltimore's second CB, but he claims he was verbally berated by one of the refs for much of the game...says he called him "boy," even.

I guess the Patriots just can't do anything right. They blow teams out and they're "running up the score." Then they have two close games and suddenly there is a blue print for beating them. It seems childish for the Ravens to react the way they did and it's no wonder the officials were calling them "boys." They certainly displayed no dignity in the loss.

 

The Patriots having been playing great all season. That's a hard thing to accept when you're blinded by hatred and jealousy. Someday, all the "Patriot haters" will look back and be able to say "Those were some great teams they had back then" and they'll be wishing they had appreciated greatness when it was in front of them.
