treble Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 I've heard that he a) wants to play at the 2010 Olympics and b) wants to beat Howe's oldest player record.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 2010 doesn't seem like a stretch, really. Four-and-a-half years though? Markus Naslund was the league's best player 4.5 years ago - how long ago does that seem? Speaking of 2010 - has any official yeay or nay been given to NHL'ers at 2014?

Nothing official, but they are leaning towards a nay. Odds are they won't give any official word until after the 2010 Olympics aer done so they don't steal it's thunder
CanadianChris Posted May 16, 2008 Author Report Posted May 16, 2008 It's actually 5.5 years -- Howe was 52 when he played his last game, and Chelios only turned 46 in January. I just don't see that one happening. Another 150 games to break the GP record is possible, though.

But yeah, 150 isn't even two full seasons, both of which he'll contend for a Cup in - that's more than likely.
nl5xsk1 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 No matter how many records he breaks or how many decades he plays, Chelios will always be the guy that said that Bettman should worry about his family and his well-being ("You'd hate to see something like that happen, but he took the job.") and the guy that refused to shake hands after getting eliminated in last year's playoffs. More or less: He'll be a piece of shit no matter what records he breaks.
Guest Desensitized Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Bettman is a dope and the Anaheim Ducks don't deserve respect. Cheli isn't all that bad.
Spaceman Spiff Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Chelios, to me, will be "guy who took a run at Brian Propp, and later got jumped by Ron Hextall".
jimmy no nose Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 So where does that Letang "clipping" penalty rank among the ridiculous calls this post-season? I might put it at the top. I almost thought it was a made up call because it's used so infrequently, and it definitely isn't intended to be used for a slightly awkward hip check.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Unfairly, I'll remember Cheli mostly for owning a bar in which a fired dishwasher killed his manager. Fairly, I'll remember Cheli for threatening Bettman's family. Also, Chelios-Savard is probably the fairest trade in the history of sport.
Zetterberg is God Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Detroit is in trouble if this keeps up. They can't score to save their lives at this point.
Zetterberg is God Posted May 17, 2008 Report Posted May 17, 2008 Fantastic. Dallas with all the momentum in the world going into game six. The Wings better get their asses in fucking gear or they're done.

garfieldsnose Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I'd be willing to bet he was being sarcastic, Mr. Party On Your Face.
garfieldsnose Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Let's play with no heart or determination with the risk of being eliminated. Great game plan, boys.
Guest Smues Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Awful game. Not if you want the Penguins to win.
garfieldsnose Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Awful game. Not if you want the Penguins to win. I'd rather it have been a game possible of attracting new fans, instead of a blowout that nobody will think of tomorrow.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I'd be willing to bet he was being sarcastic, Mr. Party On Your Face. I wasn't. Party was right. On paper, it's one of the fairest trades ever.
Zetterberg is God Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 So far so good for the Wings. The best part of the lead is pretty much all of it came from secondary scoring. Dallas is looking pretty flat so Detroit just has to play careful and not take penalties to close it out.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Pittsburgh vs Detroit in the Stanley Cup Finals. I find this match up very intriguing. I like both teams.
Zetterberg is God Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Fucking amazing to see the Wings back in the Cup final. I think it's going to be a tough series but I think they can win it. Keeping Malkin and Hossa in check will obviously be key and so will the play of Osgood. Wings in six.
