This man was a force at the line when I was growing up, the bright spot of an otherwise boring (and sometimes terrible) Browns team. I can imagine how bad that defense would've been without Clay Matthews and this man. Being incredibly quick at both positions, the Browns would shift him from nose guard to lead pass-rusher on the same drive without batting an eye. Too bad this guy was overshadowed by the large...umm...shadow of his older brother... Michael Dean Perry. 6'1", 285 lbs. 6 Pro Bowls ('89-'91, '93, '94 and '96) 4 All-Pro selections (1st team: '89 and '90, 2nd team: '93 and '94) Career (1988-97) - 61 sacks (2nd in Browns franchise history behind Matthews), 470 tackles (4th all-time, but most all-time by a lineman) It's now on his wiki, but I remember Gaines Adams being scouted and hearing that he tied MDP's Clemson University school record of 28 sacks. You'll never see that in today's NFL. Groza wasn't even particularly small, but he'd be more suited to play fullback or something in this day and age. With another 25 pounds or so, though, this guy would take the spot at RG, being about the same size as LG Randy Cross on my team, plus of course he would handle the placekicking duties and provide depth on the defensive line when needed. Hopefully most of his field time will be as a holder for PAT's, but if it's a punting situation, I like Gardocki's quick two-step release to get the ball away and send it a good distance. 0/1177 punts blocked is no fluke, and he played on some bad teams that were punting a lot over the course of his career. Only man to ever be named an all-pro in two different sports. Racked up around 3000 yards in a horribly shortened but brilliant career. He's not going to be my primary weapon here, obviously, just like he wasn't in LA behind Marcus Allen, but I'm tailoring this offense to grind clock and opponents, rest my D, and run it, run it, and run it some more. RBBC with interesting and dissimilar all-pros from different eras in Dorsett, Cannon, and Bo. I'm picking him soleley based on that flash of a prime and the fact that he was the most amazing physical specimen in sports at the time. Unofficially once ran a sub 4.2 40. Sayers is a player that I want to use in every way possible, plus he made the NFL's 75th Anniversary team as a RB and a KR so why not? He's arguably the greatest kick returner of all time with a record-tying 6 returns for TD's and an obscene 30.6 yards per KR, a record by a full yard. And although he didn't return enough punts to qualify for the record, his 14.5 average is outstanding. To make that change though, I need to pick up another RB so Sayers doesn't get worn out. Jerome Bettis 6x Pro Bowl selection (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2004) 3x All-Pro selection (1993, 1996, 1997) 1993 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year 1996 NFL Comeback Player of the Year 2001 Walter Payton Man of the Year Super Bowl XL Champion One of my all-time favorite players, "The Bus" brings more power to my rushing attack and will wear down oppsing D's. Him and Sayers will create the latest version of Thunder & Lightning. And then there will be spots where Bettis and Motley are in the same backfield together...that's 500 pounds right there.
