Lets see how good the Cubs bullpen is if they have to come in and pitch 8 2/3 innings today because Marquis gets knocked out in with 1 out in the 1st.

Yes, I based my assessment on a handful of innings, just like you did. Thanks for playing.

Matt Wieters not being in the Futures game is a joke. Anderson and Teagarden, 2 of the 3 US Catchers were Future Teamers last year (how is that possible, if they were the future last year doesn't that make them the present by now..they're still the future?).

But, I found out that the US team is primarily probably going to be the team that goes to China for the Olympics and Wieters might get called up in August if they trade Ramon Hernandez...so...my anger is lessened but Im still kinda ticked off.

This interleague stuff is incredibly frustrating and tiresome to watch from the perspective of the National League. When their Boston series began, they were three games up on the division. The Phillies have stunk up the joint, going 2-7 in their last nine games. Now? Two games up. It seems like the entire National League has just stood idle for the last two weeks. I mean, when you go 2-7 it should hurt your standing somehow.

There's no way they're starting the second game of the Mets/Yankees doubleheader at eight. The first game's been on for nearly two hours and they've only got four and a third in. At this rate, they'll be lucky to be done at six, and I would love to see both teams get across town at that time of day in an hour, police escort or not.

Also, Trot Nixon needs to be put down post haste. It was a decent idea but he's just been overmatched since joining the Mets.

Six RBI so far for the lesser Carlos (though with Carlos Muniz on the roster maybe that's not fair). That'll probably keep the dogs off his heels for a few days.

The Mets have hung 15 runs on the Yanks, 9 of them on the pen. But please fellow Yankee fans, keep preaching to me about how solid our bullpen is

Yes, one game is a pretty good sample size for me.

Well, Farnsworth, Veras, and Rivera didn't even pitch today. I know it's crazy, putting Farnsworth there, but he's one of our better arms. Ohlendorf is still young, so is Ramirez. Hawkins is just mop up duty right now.

Farnsworth is one of our better arms, yes, and yes, it is crazy. Anyone who's seen Farnsworth pitch over his career and knows his track record can't possibly be comfortable with the dude. And I actually like Kyle Farnsworth, but I don't have confidence in him to be our #2 relief pitcher.

Ohlendorf and Ramirez are young, and that's part of the problem. This is not a young team, this is a team that's constructed to win now, to at worst make the playoffs. I don't dislike either of them, but I have absolutely no confidence in them in at this point to be reliable every day pitchers or to handle being put into tough spots.

Hawkins is just mop up duty right now, yeah, because he's fucking cooked.

I don't want to sound like a broken record when talking about this shit doesn't make any difference, and in retrospect with Wang getting hurt I guess I'm cool with Chamberlain in the rotation, but our bullpen fucking sucks, and I'm sick of the sugarcoating.

The Mets are just maddening to watch

Bases loaded two innings in a row (with 0 out and 1 out) and they don't score a single run

and of course the Yankees come back with 2 scratch runs

Ponson pitched a very ugly 6 inning shutout last night. In the 2nd inning he loaded the bases with no out and worked out of it, then again in the 3rd he loaded them with one out and again escaped. I figured it would either go down like that, or a blow out of game 1 proportions, with no middle ground. Just one of those hunches. Even Igawa-san made a cameo and wasn't that offensive.

The pen sucked balls in the 1st game, big time. But I still like Edwar Ramirez alot. More K's that innings pitched (25.0/27) and an ERA+ of 112. His change up is nice.

If anyone's able to get the White Sox radio feed, they should check it out to hear how cantankerous and bitter Steve Stone sounds now. Stoney's always been an asshole, but he's taken it to a new level since getting the White Sox radio gig. He's been pretty impartial between the Sox and Cubs during his guest spots on the Score the last several years, but I guess that isn't allowed when he's calling a game for the Sox. I heard he said something about being sick to his stomach last weekend when he saw the Cubs' victory flag raised after they beat the Sox.

The Yankees called up David Robertson from AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. 23 years old, Robertson has 187 K's in just 136 career minor league innings. He has yet to give up a home run in his professional career. He nor his stuff is visually impressive, but he produces results.

Miguel Cabrera with a walk-off double and the Tigers are at .500 for the first time all season...nice work.
