Good customer service on the phone. You rarely encounter it, so it's nice when it happens. In this case it's Alaska Airlines and the lady is being super awesome to try and get my situation resolved. Plus she knows what she's talking about, that seems to be rare as well.

There was a little girl (toddler) who was shopping with her mom, and she had a band-aid on her head. Her mom was looking at something and I was just filling something and the little girl kept pointing to the band-aid and saying "Owie" with a sad face to me.

When they left she smiled brightly and waved saying, "Bye-bye" over and over.

Adorable.

I went to a casino today and they were having some big holiday give away event something or other. They'd call five people to come and draw their prizes, and while they waited for people to come in from the casino to the theater or whatever it was this thing was in the host would do trivia for Lewis Black tickets. The first person who won asked for buffet tickets instead. And the 2nd, and the 3rd, and the 4th. By the end of the night they had given away about 14 buffets and only 3 or 4 Lewis Black tickets. The host literally couldn't give the Lewis Black tickets away. All but one of the times he actually did give them away was because he asked specifically for people who wanted to win Lewis Black tickets and not take buffet tickets. And even then twice people said they wanted Lewis Black, but after they got the trivia question right they asked for buffet tickets instead. I found this highly amusing.

That, and today's Looney Tunes Marathon.

I picked up Law & Order season 6 yesterday. I got to one of the Homocide Life on the Streets crossover episodes and remembering it was continued on an episode of HomocideI was prepared to make a post in the things that anger you thread. But then when I was done with that episode what was up next? The episode of Homocide Life on the Streets that concludes things. Incredibly awesome move by whoever makes these DVDs. The quality is kind of poor, but hey A for effort.

To balance out my post in the Anger thread:

The lady at the Delta station at Madrid Bajas was wonderful. She understood what had happened and just rebooked our flights through the exact same routes for the next day and printed new vouchers for us. No charge. As frustrating as having the wrong flight information was, that balanced it out really nicely.

in the "things that don't intrest you" thread, a lot of people mentioned not being into cars. i am. i'm into cars. maybe not as much as a diehard, but dammit, i like cars. between my dad and my ex, who are both big car guys, perhaps it was inescapeable. but yes. cars = good times.

Making up long, overly elaborate comedic situations with friends that are completely hilarious to you and absolutely no one else.

Incidentally, a thing that angers me is being told these stories by a couple of giggling doofuses!

I just had this conversation on Christmas Day. In lieu of gifts to one another, this year for Christmas, my mom's side of the family exchanged gifts on behalf of World Vision. We all agreed how awesome they were on the phone, then my uncle and I kind of reached the same conclusion: It's kind of sad that we're so accustomed to poor phone service and general problems that we're so thrilled to receive good service. Given how long I've been in retail, I've come to take exceptional pride in my customer service, so maybe I'm asking a little too much. Still, the "God Bless You" at the end of the call, even though I'm pretty well atheist, was heartwarming.

I understand that people mean well when they say "God bless you" but it doesn't change the fact that it royally pisses me off. Muslims don't end phone calls by wishing the grace of Allah on me. Buddhists don't fuck around with any of that shit either. Yet Christians get the free pass.
