Boxer Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Here's a simple topic for you. What are stories you heard or know of, that relate to McMahon truly liking that superstar? Here's a few I've either read or heard about and some assumptions. Shawn Michaels: They've had a long term relationship, and McMahon had enough thick skin to put up with him through the 90s. Triple H: Duh. Undertaker: Probably because he stayed loyal all those years. Bret Hart: They had a father/son like relationship before Montreal. Chris Benoit: I heard he was really high on him that he signed all four radicals just to get at Benoit. He wanted to push him from the start. Yokozuna: I'm pretty sure he really like Yoko, I mean he didn't even fire him until 1998, almost two years after he had gotten too big and was sent to get in better shape. Ric Flair: Look no further than that big send off in April plus during the 80s he coveted Flair as a performer. He was booked extremely strong in his first run in 92-93 I'd like to mention Austin, Rock, even Foley, but honestly I don't remember McMahon personally liking them. They made him money, but a personal relationship, I don't ever recall. We all know the heat Austin and McMahon has back in 2002 and currently does with Foley today.
Hawk 34 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Foley and McMahon have a very high-school type relationship. I wouldn't include him on this list. Vince was a huge fan of Bruno and I believe he once stated that Andre was his favorite.
King Kamala Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I remember reading once that "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers was one of Vince's all time favorites.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) I've read that Vince hangs out with John Cena backstage. I think he's always been a fan of CM Punk, Mr. Kennedy and Super Crazy. Vince was obsessed with getting Bobby Lashley to become the next big superstar. I think he even called him "the black Hulk Hogan". Edited August 20, 2008 by Ed Wood Caulfield
Dobbs 3K Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 To add to this thread, I recall Vince mentioning in the vignette for Eddie Graham's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, that the Graham Brothers were one of his favorite tag teams of all time.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Yeah, Vince used to ride with Jerry Graham back in the '60s.
MillenniumMan831 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I can only assume Vince has always loved the Samoan contingent (and the overall savage gimmick) in WWF/E (Afa, Sika, Samu, Fatu, Umaga, ect).
Diamonddust Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Even though Flair got the big send off and all, and Vince helped him out financially, I don't think Vince was the biggest Flair fan in the word simply because he didn't "create" Flair.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Yeah, Vince used to ride with Jerry Graham back in the '60s. Yes. The moment that I saw this thread title I thought of Dr. Jerry Graham, whose patented walk has been popularized with modern audiences because of Vince himself.
DrVenkman PhD Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Vince was a big Tajiri fan in 2004 or so.
King Cucaracha Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Didn't he say similar about Yang? Or am I getting them confused?
Cran Da Maniac Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I can only assume Vince has always loved the Samoan contingent (and the overall savage gimmick) in WWF/E (Afa, Sika, Samu, Fatu, Umaga, ect). And on that note, you can also throw in Hillbillies
Boner Kawanger Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Vince loved the Razor Ramon gimmick because he had never seen Scarface.
