F4W/WON WWE Notes - Summarized notes, radio notes, etc.

Recommended Posts

If you missed it in the General Discussion thread, this is the current plan. It could be dropped at anytime I suppose, but we'll give it a go. SUMMARIZED notes from newsletters will go in this thread along with any important notes stated on their radio shows. This will no longer go in General Discussion. Then, next Tuesday when the next F4W is posted, it starts over.

It's worth noting that if you're into wrestling newsletters, sarcastic forum posters (THE BOARD), and some pretty good audio shows, this is a good deal and you should consider signing up.

Here is today's free Bryan and Vinny show: http://www.f4wonline.com/dmdocuments/090208bvshow.mp3

F4W~! - September 2, 2008:

Shawn Michaels: It's noted that this injury could put Shawn on the shelf for 6 months IF he even came back at all. Shawn thought about retiring a few years ago due to his knee problems. It's assumed that he'll just take the time off for 6 months then get that itch to wrestle, but then again Michaels' has commented things aren't the same without Flair around. Key note, though: "We are also doing a lot of speculating about something that we really don't know all the information about at this exactly moment."

John Cena injury / Raven lawsuit: This is a summary of items that have already been discussed, so me summarizing them further would seem pointless.

Kane vs. Batista: The technical masterpiece last week reminded Mr. Alvarez of Big Show and Kane trying to have a technical match a few years ago. Apparently the reason the previous technical match between two giants happened was that Vince McMahon declared he was sick of the usual giant versus giant bullshit. He said he wanted to know "what two big monsters would do if one challenges the others technical limits".

MVP: He's listed as wrestling HHH on the Mexico tour, so he MAY walk out of Unforgiven with the WWE title (or HHH might retain), but then again he might not as these line-ups always change. As was noted previously on the board due, MVP has some heat right now "for several reasons", but one of them is they're not high on his work and want him to be more like Shelton Benjamin.

Can someone give me a breakdown of what this is all about, I tried to read the thread but it was pretty f'n boring and I gave up.

Basically Raven's lawsuit is that WWE's wrestlers should be considered employees as opposed to independent contractors based on a bunch of legal definitions and some other lawsuit precedents. Because of that, WWE wrestlers were entitled to certain benefits that employees would have received (and there might even be some income tax revenues that WWE might have had to pay), and that because WWE didn't do this, Raven and anyone who joins his class action suit should be entitled to some money.

Avoid the unmoderated parts of 'The Board'. It's a complete joke. The moderated parts of the board aren't too bad.

Premium Foley News: Mick will be releasing a statement tomorrow regarding his signing with TNA. Meltz also expects Foley to thanks the WWE. His deal with TNA is believed to be "short-term" (and he can start imminently) and his statement tomorrow should expand upon his deal.

Tuesday Daily News update tidbits:

-- While it has not been made official, the word going around is that Michaels suffered a minor tear of his triceps and will not need surgery. The match Sunday appears to be a go and Michaels may not even need any time off. Tremendously good news for all involved.

Awesome news. Going from never wrestling again, to wrestling a PPV Sunday is quite the turn around.

Where did you hear "never wrestle again" most people had it placed as a 2-4 month injury.

If you read the summarized F4W notes, you'll see Alvarez brought up the possibility of Shawn calling it a day.

That doesn't sound summarized, and Venk noted that he wishes to not post verbatim from the pay sites. Just an FYI, LUNG.

Sorry but I posted the free content (the free daily news update). I will summarize it just incase.

What is it in particular that WWE wants MVP to study from Shelton? Shelton is of course dull on the mic and really I've never thought he was very interesting as a heel in the ring. He seems like one of those guys who stops doing anything cool or exciting because he's a heel and is afraid it'll get a pop. Both have had long matches with Jeff on SD and those have ranged from semi decent to outright dull (part of that is my aversion to 20 min. long matches with DQs).

You know what these guys should do? Become a tag team. Neither is quite main event material at the moment, so team em. MVP can carry Shelton on the mic, and Shelton can bring the flashy moves in the ring.

From this weeks Observer:

MVP's heat started over his attitude towards the guy who was monitoring his most recent drug test (ie: watching him pee). MVP asked the doctor if he graduated from college, and when the doctor said he did, MVP fired back with a remark along the lines of how he'd spent four years in school just to watch people's dicks. The guy complained about it, and John Laurinaitis and Bruce Prichard talked to the wrestlers about not harassing the monitors. At that point, the word in the bak is that MVP can't get heat as a heel.

WON - September 3rd (8th):

Unforgiven: Commercials airing on DirecTV for Unforgiven only mention the Raw and SmackDown Scramble matches - the feeling is that the "ECW Scrabble" (thanks Adamle) match was a last minute addition to the card and not part of the original plan. The rumoured idea that Undertaker would be facing the winner of the SmackDown match was something creative came up but it was not green lit by Vince.

Christian / Kevin Nash: It's 50/50 whether or not they re-sign with TNA or heads back to WWE, mostly dependent on how interested WWE is in them. Nash, of course, is telling TNA that WWE wants him and there is the possibility he could be a bodyguard for Lance Cade or work some tags with Shawn, but in his current condition one would question whether he could take on (or want) the WWE schedule. With Christian, any heat he had for his 2005 departure is water under the bridge. Now that emphasis on a muscular physique is at an all time low (due to drug testing), Christian seems to have nothing holding him back from a prime WWE position.

More on MVP: The heat on MVP may have started with a drug test - wrestlers aren't exactly down with the idea of standing around totally exposed to give a urine sample. During a test, MVP asked the monitor if he had graduates from college, then after he answered, said something to the effect of "you went to school for four years to watch people’s dicks". The monitor complained to Johnny Ace and Brother Love told the wrestlers not to harass them. Since that incident, backstage buzz has been that MVP can't work as a heel and get heat (Dave notes this is surprising as he just had a good match with Festus). The reason the story came out about him being asked to observe Shelton Benjamin's work is because Benjamin is currently getting high praise for his current heel work, particularly the way he smiles after doing a heel deed.

Scramble Predictions: Dave feels despite heat on him, MVP winning is the most logical choice if HHH does not retain. He also feels Matt Hardy should not win the ECW title in this type of match and Henry should retain to build to a singles win for Hardy. For Raw, it's noted "a lot of ideas have been discussed".

Randy Orton: Aiming for a November return. Also does not like Bubba Ray Dudley because he was careless while working with Sylvan Grenier.

Go Shiozaki: He did a dark match at the Sunday tapings to see if they could use him in the role they were planning on for Morishima before they suddenly realized Morishima didn't have a WWE-shape.

Joey Mercury: He's not taking any indy dates after December, so most feel he is on his way back with Christian York (with a name change expected if Christian Cage comes in).

Legends of WrestleMania Video Game: While there apparently several names Vince doesn't want to be in this game, the two THQ have been told absolutely can't be in it are Mick Foley and Randy Savage.

Undertaker's Streak: Hey, weren't we talking about this last week in CTDWAT? Anyway, if Undertaker were to ever lose at Mania, they want it to be to someone who needs a rub and not an established star. Ted DiBiase is being discussed as the guy who might do it in the future with an angle revolving around how his father brought Taker to WWE.

Dibiase retiring 'Taker could prove interesting, given the connection ("my father brought you into the WWE, now I'm going to take you out of it"), but I think Rhodes is the better of the two, at least work-wise.

Interesting that Vince doesn't want Foley in the LoWM game.

Vince is a fucking douchebag. Holding a grudge with him and Savage to this extent is just wrong. I mean, granted, it's just a video game, but still...just cuz Foley didn't want to be yelled at every Tuesday night over a headset doesn't mean he should start excluding him from things.

Will there ever be any idea of why Vince has blacklisted Savage? The Stephanie story seems like a smutty rumor, but there's never been another explanation as to why Vince, a guy who's taken Warrior, Hall, Hogan, and Nash back, refuses to acknowledge him.

A note I excluded (because the end resolution was 'this is unlikely') was that there is a belief Foley going to TNA will disqualify him from the WWE HOF.
