devo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Believe me, that and the fact that the Brewers are losing are the only things keeping me somewhat calm at the moment.
bob_barron Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Chipper Jones says you're welcome, Mets fans
devo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Hey, you only get to claim that if the Phillies end up with six or more runs.
strummer Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I knew a 5-1 lead wouldn't last. Â it only took 2 innings to disappear
CanadianChris Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Just once, I'd like to get a White Sox game that was carried by the other team's broadcaster on Extra Innings. Seems like it's always Harrelson.
NYU Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Oliver Perez is laughable. Â It's important -- extremely important -- the Mets win this one and possibly pull into a half game behind Philly. Milwaukee is suddenly hot again to the pleasure of nobody except Snuffbox.
naiwf Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I hate being a Mets fan so, so much. Â
NYU Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I'm going to throw up here. How many guys are the Mets going to leave on base tonight?
Bruiser Chong Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 It's extremely irritating. I don't mind a back-and-forth game, but when it's a result of missing the strike zone, it gets grating, especially by the ninth hour.
KingPK Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Looks like the Orioles bullpen is doing everything in their power to make this last series the most meaningless Sox/Yankees series in a long time. Why this isn't at Yankee Stadium I'll never understand (if only because Boston was their first opponent at that place when it opened).
garfieldsnose Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 This Nationals series is not going to be a cakewalk. I only wish it was. I have a bad feeling about this.
Smartly Pretty Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Dave O'Brien has never heard of stealing signals. That's pretty pathetic for a baseball announcer.

Why this isn't at Yankee Stadium I'll never understand (if only because Boston was their first opponent at that place when it opened). One thing to watch this weekend regardless. Mussina is going for his 20th win. Stupid as it may be, his HOF candidacy may be on the line. (I think he deserves regardless.)
devo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 If I ever meet Daniel Murphy, I'm buying him dinner.
garfieldsnose Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 The game would be over already if it wasn't for his error.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Honestly, how many situations like this does Howry have to provide to prove he doesn't belong on the postseason roster? It's a meaningless game for them, but Howry is TOAST.
devo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 The game would be over already if it wasn't for his error. Â He's a second baseman. Considering that his defense out there has been adequate, I'm willing to let the occasional error slide.
Smartly Pretty Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I also think Mussina belongs in the Hall. A while ago I heard someone suggest that Moose is the best free agent signing of all time. Now, I think that title probably belongs to another Yankee, whose first name is Alex, but if you're talking about productivity with the team they signed with then that might not be a dumb thing to say.

I've supported the Os for about four hours now and I already want to kill myself. I don't know how Marvin does it.
devo Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 And they've reached whole new levels of incompetence. Stunning.
NYU Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 And they strand ANOTHER three baserunners. It would help if Ramon Castro didn't look like he was about to fall asleep in the batter's box every time he stepped up to hit tonight.
garfieldsnose Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 If the Mets lose this game I would hope it would demoralize them enough to get beaten 2 out of 3 to the fish, much less one more from the Cubs.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Howry facing the heart of the lineup after giving up a leadoff triple is about the shiniest platter the Cubs could find.

That honor really has to go to Randy Johnson. Arizona signed him and got FOUR CONSECUTIVE Cy Young awards! Plus a world championship.

I'm sure there are others that were even better signings, but Greg Maddux with the Braves was a better free agent signing.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 While this drama unfolds in New York, the Minnesota Twins have won again. Tomorrow's game determines the leader of the AL Central.
