I stayed at a holiday Inn that was an absolute dump in Harrisburg.

 

Next month Im staying at the Crowne Plaza in Philly that used to be a Holiday Inn that was also a dump, but it was only $50 a night for a hotel in Philly.

 

Im seeing a trend though.

Back in 2005, me and a friend were on our annual 3-Day drinking binge throughout SC, and landed a coupon for a two-bed Suite at the Courtyard Marriot for $59.99 / night at the SC Welcome Center. Aside from that, the most I've payed for a hotel room for a night is about $65-70 for a room at a Holiday Inn in upstate-NC after a concert in 2006.

Im going to suggest Hotwire again here. It might not sound like a good idea (you pay for the hotel before you know the exact hotel you're staying at) but its usually at least 1/2 off the hotel's regular rates and there are sites that pretty much decode the clues Hotwire gives to give you so you can narrow down the possibilities to 2 or 3 hotels at the most. They are almost always even cheaper than Travelocity/Orbitz/etc because there is some risk (I dont know what hotel Im getting..!!) but if you use the sites that I mentioned its not that bad and its almost a fun little game. Plus, I dont really care what specific hotel Im staying at since 99% of them end up being all the same anyway.

 

I'll be in Philly on December 15th for Glenn Beck's Christmas Show at the Kimmel Center and then Im going to Baltimore for Smackdown tapings on the 16th after which Im just going to head home, nice little trip. Im probably going to make a stop at the Harrah's casino outside of Philly as my only real sight seeing since Ive already seen all the good stuff there before on a school field trip.

That's exactly how I roll. All I ask out of my hotel is that I have a decently clean location and that it's not in a terrible spot. One of the worse hotel spots I stayed at in recent memory was at the Travelodge in Vegas in 2005 in late summer. I was only going to stay there for the first night because I know how iffy it could be, but the location was convenient since it was right there on the strip, smooshed in between the Aladdin and a tiny strip of late night convenience stores. I went to the Excalibur for the next couple nights after that, but the location was definitely really sketched out, the room's a/c and heating barely worked, and the shower, oh god don't even get me started. But you know what, I slept and was able to sleep comfortably, and it was pretty cheap.

 

Even if it's cheap, usually when you find a hotel that's in a suburb or right by the airport, you're guaranteed it'll be a decent hotel.

 

Also, ViciousFish is fucking kidding himself if he thinks he's getting clean sheets every day and a place that isn't disease ridden at a spot that's not at least $100. One of my best friends works at the Holiday Inn in Norman, OK and he's got a lot of stories to tell not just from H.I., but from the other hotels they manage, and trust me if that's the reason you're paying more, you're not in luck.

I've stayed at that Travelodge, when I had an early flight and didn't want to bother my cousin by having to drive me to the airport at 5 am. It's a dive, but it was clean and the bed didn't suck.

 

You can hit decent enough places in the range of 60-80 dollars a night depending on the area and time of year easy.
