Subway thread

Recommended Posts

One of my favorites is the spicy italian, with the onions and green peppers toasted with the meat. No cheese, lettuce, cuke, tomato, pepperocini, vinergar. Tasty.

Tuna, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cuke, pepperocini, onion is good too.

I used to love the meatball sub ages ago when I had a good metabolism.

But in the last couple months I've been eating chicken breast or ham with all the veggies except olives, no cheese, wheat bread, vingar the only condiment. Fairly healthy and pretty tasty.

I always get turkey and roast beef with pepper jack cheese, spinach, carrots, green peppers, mayo, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Occasionally bannana peppers and/or jalapenos.

Ham and Turkey - Parmesan Oregano or Herb and Cheese Bread, Provolone, Lite Mayo, Oil, Black Pepper, Oregano (can never have enough)

Meatball - Cheddar, Oregano

Chicken Bacon Ranch - 'Nuff Said

Overall, I am not, nor have I ever been a big fan of Veggies. I live mostly off meat with the exception of Corn, Potatoes, and Green Beans and Peas. Most fruits are OK though, but we're talking about sub sandwiches.

My Mom likes to get carrots and spinach added to her subs.

This thread reminded me why I think the idea of the restaurant being a healthy option was inaccurate. No one here claimed they were eating there for the health benefits, but I've known people to get some of the sandwiches listed here and think they're going healthy. Looking at the nutritional contents of subs like the tuna and seafood were enough to talk me out of ever ordering them.

It's a healthier option and it's all still in relation to portion size and being smart with your toppings.

I don't think Maple Leaf has anything to do with tuna so I'm sure I'll be fine. I did get really sick after eating Swiss Chalet last night though, that was odd.

I used to deliver bread to them. I have not been back since. Not that I was that big a fan to begin with.

Re: The Maple Leaf thing - that really involved Subway? Yikes. Monkey Man and I have a buddy who literally eats 6-10 meals a week at Subway.

I'm so leery of all things Maple Leaf/Shopsy's/Schneider's now, even though I know many of their products are fine. That's out of character for me to fly off the handle in such a way, but, you know. Incidentally, as I've mentioned before, I can't eat a hotdog that's not a Juicy Jumbo or street meat - this could be the end of my hot dog career.

You know, I don't really find Subway calling their sandwiches "Yum Rockets" in their new tv commercial to appatising.

Chicken Pizziola sandwich. Get one, stick it in your face.

NOW.

This sounds painful.

There's hardly any mayo in the tuna... It would taste real dry without another dressing. Since mayo is the only dressing I like on a tuna sub, I get more mayo.

I missed this the first time around. I might cop for mayonnaise when I go to Subway today.

I know what you're talking about. It's a combination of the cleaner they use and the bread baking/getting stale in the air.

I always order, "A ridiculous amount of olives" on either

All of the workers at the Subway I go to are foreign, so they wouldn't understand an imperative like this. :(

edit: and yeah, change the thread title back to something about fillings.

I've lately been enjoying (or at least a couple weeks ago when I wasn't being as conscious of what I was eating) a footlong meatball marinara on parmesan oregano bread with pepperjack cheese. You can ask the Subway people to throw on green bell pepper and onion before throwing it in the toaster, then when it comes out I think I put jalapenos, banana peppers, black olives, and then just some salt and pepper and tons of parmesan cheese. No fancy mayos, mustards, sauces, olive oil or whatever, although I did try it with the chipotle southwest sauce and that was pretty damn good.

But yeah. That's the best way to enjoy the $5 footlong.

I'm sad I can no longer get the Chicken Pizziola, they'd make it for me for a bit after the promotion (charging the equivalent of a Roasted Chicken + Meat for the pepperoni), but I guess one of their supervisors told them to stop. Bastard.

They'll also vary on putting other toppings on the sammich before toasting it. Some of them will, some of them won't.

I've been filling my face with Spicy Italian instead.

I'm trying to be budget conscious lately so I exclusively hit the $5 footlong menu now, despite most of my favorites being not included.

This led to me getting the Spicy Italian today for the first time in maybe 7-8 years and it was delicious. Surely I won't be going another 7 years.
