Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 I know for certain, there was one notable poster here that didn't like Thin White Duke era Bowie and I probably mistakenly took that poster as the voice of the TSM Music Folder's conscience. I think it was Inc for the record. I like both Young Americans and Station to Station. A couple of songs aside, I don't care much for Diamond Dogs, which, along with the other two albums, constitute what's sometimes considered his cocaine records. That one's not a Thin White Duke album, though.

I could have easily swapped in a number of different Stones, Beatles or Zeppelin albums, but I tried to limit to one per artist. The fact that I didn't manage to get any Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan or Jay-Z on this list astounds me.

godthedog 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 i can see where they'd be coming from. zeppelin always had a problem with consistency in putting their albums together, and although III doesn't have ballbreakingly memorable numbers, it flows pretty well and has some kind of coherence to it. I'm a huge mark for the blues, so of course I'm going to love it. Plus, Bonham's drums sound absolutely amazing on that song. JPJ rips it up on the keys too. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 29, 2009 I thought we'd had the III discussion before. I still can't get behind that one. I think the blues number is by far the best song on the record, (and among Zeppelin's finest), but I have no use for Side B whatsoever. They start off with such a nice rock groove, hit the big songs, and then the other half of the record is this overproduced mess of quasi-folky whatever. Side B of III is probably my favorite side of any record, ever. "Tangerine" and "That's The Way" are two of my favorite Zep songs, and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" is unbelievably fun. I could take or leave the closer, which I guess devalues my argument a bit, but to steal a phrase from a fellow poster: C'mon man.
