The Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician

The Stooges - Fun House

I know for certain, there was one notable poster here that didn't like Thin White Duke era Bowie and I probably mistakenly took that poster as the voice of the TSM Music Folder's conscience. I think it was Inc for the record.

I like both Young Americans and Station to Station. A couple of songs aside, I don't care much for Diamond Dogs, which, along with the other two albums, constitute what's sometimes considered his cocaine records. That one's not a Thin White Duke album, though.

Guest Agent of Oblivion

1, 2, and 3.

Neurosis-Souls At Zero

Mr. Bungle-California

Electric Wizard-Dopethrone

4-10

Sleep-Dopesmoker

Isis-Oceanic

Isis-Panopticon

John Coltrane-Asenscion

David Bowie-Low

Neurosis-Through Silver In Blood

Frank Zappa-The Grand Wazoo

The Zappa and Bowie positions are variables depending on which album of theirs I like most at the time. Sleep is cemented in there somewhere, and Isis will occupy two places until I can definitively choose one over the other.

The Beatles - Revolver

The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

The Who - Who's Next

Led Zeppelin - III

AC/DC - Back In Black

Neil Young - Tonight's the Night

Guns n Roses - Appetite For Destruction

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

Nas - Illmatic

I'm quite disappointed in how "safe" this list ended up being, but I don't know what I could drop off this list. I could have easily swapped in a number of different Stones, Beatles or Zeppelin albums, but I tried to limit to one per artist. The fact that I didn't manage to get any Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan or Jay-Z on this list astounds me.

i can see where they'd be coming from. zeppelin always had a problem with consistency in putting their albums together, and although III doesn't have ballbreakingly memorable numbers, it flows pretty well and has some kind of coherence to it.

III doesn't have ballbreakingly memorable numbers,

I don't agree with either of these statements.

zeppelin are like the demigods of musical excess. that will always be their problem. long, meandering jams and spotty albums. when they make a great song, its amazing. but lots is bluesy, self-indulgent junk. c'mon man.

Talking Heads - 'Fear of Music'

Those that selected Led Zeppelin III. Explain, please.

Since I've Been Loving You

Out On The Tiles

Gallows Pole

Since I've Been Loving You is the most tedious song on that album. Otherwise, it's probably their best, although I'm only vaguely interested in Led Zeppelin.

I'm a huge mark for the blues, so of course I'm going to love it. Plus, Bonham's drums sound absolutely amazing on that song. JPJ rips it up on the keys too.

Guest Agent of Oblivion

I thought we'd had the III discussion before. I still can't get behind that one. I think the blues number is by far the best song on the record, (and among Zeppelin's finest), but I have no use for Side B whatsoever. They start off with such a nice rock groove, hit the big songs, and then the other half of the record is this overproduced mess of quasi-folky whatever.

Then we are on different planes, sir. Side B of III is probably my favorite side of any record, ever. "Tangerine" and "That's The Way" are two of my favorite Zep songs, and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" is unbelievably fun. I could take or leave the closer, which I guess devalues my argument a bit, but to steal a phrase from a fellow poster: C'mon man.

For anyone who doubts zep III... Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp with 20 drunks in the room is so amazing and fun.... It's just love man.

In no particular order

The Bends - Radiohead

In Utero - Nirvana

Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Icky Thump - The White Stripes

London Calling - The Clash

The Soft Bulletin - The Flaming Lips

Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles

OK Computer - Radiohead

Dookie - Green Day

Nevermind - Nirvana

Some of these might be cliche, but I didn't want to put something not well known on the list just for the sake of looking musically well rounded.

Nine Inch Nails- The Fragile

Lupe Fiasco-The Cool

Johnny Cash-Unearthed

Flogging Molly-Within a Mile of Home

Rocco Deluca & The Burden-I trust You to Kill Me

Garden State-Soundtrack

Beck-Guero

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers-Greatest Hits

New Found Glory-New Found Glory

Jimi Hendrix-Are You Experienced?

I'm probably going to be burned for some of these but fuck it, love them...I tried to limit it to one album per artist otherwise there'd probably be more NIN, Flogging Molly, and Lupe
