I'm curious; in the closing moments of the Xavier/Texas game, they showed the same woman in the stands four times in like a minute and a half; does anybody know who that was?

I admire those of you that are steadast in the belief that it is never acceptable to hit a woman. I'd like to ask you for some advice, if I may: what course of action would you recommend to evade an angry/aggressive woman who won't allow you to walk away, or might even possibly back you into a corner? If she's all up in your face hitting on you or whatever, and you're trying to just walk away and distance yourself from the situation, but she won't let you alone, what would be the best course of action to get her off you?

While a lot of 12 (not that 12 y/o sign-ups are allowed, I don't think) and 13 year olds are impressionable, they're not so impressionable that they take any of this to heart. If they do, or even worse act on it and think it's a serious message, they're messed up to begin with. Besides which, everyone of that age I know of on this board is better than that. Either way, I think I'd tell the parents to stick it. You know, not letting the internet/television/radio police your kids and such... Uhh, Manson, for the benefit of those of us who are old and slow (and who also, incidentally happen to be parents), could you explain how allowing your child to come to a message board equates to letting the internet police your children? I mean, it would be one thing if I were, say, to allow my son to surf the net unsupervised, with no knowledge of where he goes to when he's online... but not only do I not do that personally, it didn't seem to me as though FS was implying in his scenaraio. In fact, it seemed to me that he was implying the exact opposite; if I check out a website that my son wants to go to, and it looks innocent enough, I'm probably going to allow him to go... I'm not going to just leave it go at that, though; I'm going to log onto the site myself every couple of days, just to make sure that the content is appropriate for my child. Now, suppose I check this site every two or three days (for the sake of argument, let's say that it's a Spongebob message board, or something), and in between days when I check in, somebody registers to the site and decides to post some Anal Cunt lyrics in his signature: do I not have a right to be offended by that, and to want to complain to the site's admin? Based on my understanding of your post, it seemed to me as though you think that if my son happened to see that, that it is due to some failure on my part as a parent. Is that how you really feel?

The one thing that I took away from PDS's commentary is that the boards do, in fact, seem dead a lot of the time. Nobody comments on anybody else's writing anymore; it seems to me as if people don't really concern themselves with anyone's matches or storylines other than their own. The fed seems absentee a lot of the time; we're not really interacting with each other... One of the reasons I started doing the HOLT report is that it made me read everybody's work, react to it, and then think about what each match would have meant in the context of the show itself. I wish that I had more time to start it up again, and hopefully after I get settled down in Washington, I'll be able to get back to it. I'm just saying that more feedback would go a long way towards picking things up around here; people are a lot more likely to take an interest in your work when you're taking an interest in theirs... - Dub Cee
