That's all well and to the good, but like I said, I can't recall ever seeing anybody refer to it as a GOLD medal count, and I still don't understand why it should be taken as assumed that "medal count" is a euphemism for "gold medals only" count? EDIT .cn, huh? So, the Canadian website is the "official" one?

:: shrugs :: Well, why don't they call it a "Gold Medal Count," then? I've never seen anybody specifically cite a "gold medal" count as opposed to a "medal count," except as part an argument for why we arrogant Americans are the Great Satan, or whatever... Not only that, but if the silver and bronze don't merit being counted, why even give them out? Why not just present a gold medal to the event winner, and everybody else can lick balls?

Do they have DH's in softball? Because I don't believe I've ever noticed Crystal Bustos out in the field? Of course, I was joking with my friend last night that with the way the hos on USA's softball team pitch, they could put that heifer at shortstop, and it wouldn't matter...

That's some good shit, right there. Maybe her grandparents emigrated from the Congo?

Hasn't it more or less been a tradition for a while now that most guys that had long reigns as champions reciprocate to the guys that put them over after losing the belt?

Bela Karolyi may be my favorite Olympic commentator ever. There's homerism, and then there's Karolyism...

But, if it's winner take all, wouldn't either Kofi or Mickie retaining mean that they would also win the other's title? And, regarding your other comment, I fall on the other side of that point of view: as someone who likes the women's division and didn't hate Chyna's run as IC champion, I'd be bothered either way, but I'd be far more bothered by Santino winning the women's title than I would be by Beth winning the IC title. Besides, you know that if Santino wins, it's just going to lead to Beth beating him for both belts, anyway...

Why does WWE want to take the only two things I like about RAW at this point (I-C division, Women's division) and ruin them in one fell swoop? How can that match end in a way that doesn't either a) kill the Intercontinental Title or b) kill the Women's title, without a Dusty Finish?

So Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz are doing

Hard to top Selma in fishnets and a bust revealing top. How about Sofía Vergara in fishnets and a bust revealing top? Upon further review, I don't think they could put Salma and Sofía in a movie together; that might be too much hotness for the film to handle. They may need to perform live in my living room. -
Damn; I liked Cherry.

Sorry, I don't keep up... I forget how many kids post here sometimes; this is the only message board I hang around at where the average age is so young. In other news, the "Redeem Team" put it down on Spain...

Eww... she's sixteen, man...

I can only hope that it didn't take you four years to figure that out. I figured out he was a cretin the first day he debuted on ESPN Radio, when he spent his whole first segment slurping football, and talking about how much he drank at the troth of the NFL.

I thought it was Emma Dumas?

You know, I've been a Chris Bosh "hater" ever since he left Tech early, the year before we went to the Final Four (and would have beaten Connecticut if he'd stayed)... I hereby take back everything bad I've ever said about him.

Outstanding. I can't wait until the season premiere of NBA on TNT; this year's Who He Play For? is going to be the best ever.

Ah... no. Although that would have been a much more interesting story... -

No. I'm about as close to straight-edge as you can be without actually calling yourself one, or liking punk music, or looking like one of those little fruits, like Toxxic... Let's just say that I was suspended for mistreatment of a customer, and leave it at that. -

Mea culpa, everybody. I'm afraid I had a little "Jeff Hardy" situation of my own to deal with: I got suspended at my job and, the very next day, there was a heavy rain over here that caused part of my roof to collapse. Completely trashed the room with my pc in it, and the pc as well, including all the data I had on there, like all my matches. Interestingly enough, my laptop escaped relatively unscathed, but the power supply was unusable, so I couldn't recharge it. Took basically my whole savings to get my house fixed, so I guess it's a good thing that I'm back at work, since I'm ostensibly flat broke right now. Anyway, I'm more or less back on track here, so I'm going to take Ground Zero off, but I should be good to go after that. - Dub "Ain't that a bitch" Cee -

Houston Chronicle and Sacramento Bee are both reporting Artest to Houston for Bobby Jackson (expiring), a 1st in 2009 and a player to be named later (believed to be Donte Greene). If true, the trade can't be announced officially until August 14, because that's the earliest that Greene can be traded.

I'm sure that if she played a few more games, she'd pick up the offense easily enough; she'd still be terrible on defense, though. Reminds me of how Barkley is fond of saying "if I didn't have to play defense, I could come back tomorrow." Word around the WNBA communities, however, appears to be that Lieberman may have just been doing the Shock a favor, since they didn't have enough players to field a team otherwise; Laimbeer is expected to sign another player or two tomorrow, and Lieberman is probably going to sit out the remainder of her seven-day and then go back to the booth.
