"Our Country" is second only to "All My Friends."

One more outlet to subtract from terrestrial radio means you're reaching smaller audiences, which means you're billing lower. That's not going to affect the news-talk monoliths at the top, but it's going to hurt smaller stations. What do you consider a smaller station? I don't believe there's such a beast in my town anymore—well, I'm completely ignorant of local AM stations—all stations here (save for the local NPR affiliate) are owned by major corporations.

I have three "classic" rock stations to choose from: one that plays what you generally consider to be classic rock; one that plays rock from the 70s and contemporary rock (but little in between); and one that plays rock ranging from the 70s to the 90s. Oh, the selection!

I've been thinking of getting XM/Sirius, but I fear I'd quickly get sick of what few channels I'd listen to.
-
But how is it not helping? I'm not very informed on the politics of the radio business, but you seem to have some ideas. Tell me. EDIT: Re satellite. I don't know where you're going with the race card thing you edited into the post.
-
How is satellite radio a "bane" to an industry that had had been doing a fine job of ruining itself prior to its existence?

I haven't done this since the album came out. First disc is the best one, but they're all good.

Let's get Red Hot Thumbtack in here to post that screed on non-racist nationalism he first read on assrot.com.

From allmusic's review of John Cale's Slow Dazzle, regarding "Heartbreak Hotel": "One of the most amazing cover versions ever" and a "masterpiece"? Really? No. Cale's performance is nothing without the admittedly creepy chorus. The verses are a total snoozer. At least Ned Raggett adds the "arguably" to "the best Elvis Presley revamp in existence." My vote would go to Bryan Ferry's aggressive take of "The 'In' Crowd," found on his Another Time, Another Place album.

Anyone go back and read this thread's early pages? I totally fucked the one I always found attractive earlier this year. o/ -
My dog's currently on my bed, on his back, making yipping noises. He's dreaming! If only I had a working camera.

Anyway, I think Urban Outfitters is great. I laugh my ass off everytime step foot in one. Which, now, I can do more often, as one finally opened down here the other week. Excellent! I've now been in four different Urban Outfitters in three different states. And I saw Kevin Bacon in one of them!

The Oblongs was a lousy show. Mission Hill, too. I've made my feelings on Family Guy known. Outside of those, I haven't watched many of the adult cartoons that surfaced within the last two decades. In my youth, I did watch such short-lived fare as Capitol Critters and Fish Police. I don't remember much about either.

I don't know what way your taste in beer runs, but, if you haven't already, you should try any of the number of beers produced by Athens's own Terrapin Brewery. You should also have little trouble finding stuff from Atlanta's equally recommended Sweetwater Brewery. I'm in Atlanta 2-3 times year; I load up on both when I'm there so I can have them down here. (Though, Sweetwater has recently gotten Florida distribution, so I'm set there.)

Wanna hear Dog the Bounty Hunter say "nigger"?

Like the public at large knows or cares who Don Frye is. They'd rather hear about the guy with a successful tv show and bestselling book. -
I like The Critic, but some of the gags are dated, which is something you can't accuse of, say, the at-the-time contemporary episodes of The Simpsons.

Someone took down my avatar: Was it because I uploaded it to the site? Nary a naughty bit is on display. -
Ha. I brought up the Wonka thing as it was the only flashback used in The Critic I clearly remembered. Still, my point stands.
-
Volume = Hilarity can also be applied to the Dane Cook method of comedy. Yelling your punchlines to result in bigger laughs.

Family Guy invented flashbacks? If you insist on comparing the two shows, one of the worst (of many) things about Family Guy is its tendency to run jokes into the ground, something The Critic did not. A comparison: The Critic: Jay is interviewing Willy Wonka. Jay chews gum, thus turning into a giant blueberry. Joke's over. Now, if Family Guy did it, you'd get this: Family Guy: Peter chews gum, turns into giant blueberry, rolls down the street and narrowly misses oncoming traffic while doing so (with some of the cars crashing into each other). He finally comes to a rest in a poor neighborhood, where he is attacked by starving children. The gag in The Critic wasn't very funny, but at least it threw it out there and moved on. Family Guy would take the joke and add a bunch of ridiculous shit on top of it. It's as if the writers think more volume leads to greater hilarity.
