I'm gonna need a lot of coffee to read that whole TLC match. What are we, the SWF all of a sudden? Yeah, it was a short show, but I'll take a short show with a lot of matches over a short show with a bunch of promos and 1 or 2 matches.

Yeah, I can agree with that. It's just really sad that it's been said for years that a storm like this is bound to hit and when it is on the doorstep, the mayor and gov are running around saying "Wait, you mean we actually have to USE these plans we have for something like this?"
-
Oh great, another year of "make the game closer than it really should be". They really have to learn how to just finish teams off.
-
Holy crap are the Raiders undisciplined. They're well on their way to leading the league in penalties again.
-
Unfortunately, there will be some incredibly pigheaded people that choose to ride out the storm, but these Darwin Award candidates shouldn't be the city's problem. For me, the Chain of Blame starts with the people that had the means to leave, but chose to stay, the local government for not getting people that couldn't go anywhere to safe ground (shipping them to an arena and telling them to bring their own food isn't "safe ground), and the state government for not acting quicker after the storm hit. I really can't blame the Federal government that much, because all they can really do is support the local and state governments when they ask for assistance. You know, that whole "State's rights" thing?

I posted this elsewhere, but this would be how I'd cut the number down to 9 and set them up: January - Royal Rumble February - Nothing, giving them two months to set up Wrestlemania. No Way Out has never been a great PPV. March - Wrestlemania April - Backlash (RAW PPV) May - Taboo Tuesday (since May seems like a slow month, put TT here to spice it up. This would be RAW's "Marquee" PPV, but I'd also think about making this a dual brand PPV) June - Great American Bash (SD's "Marquee" PPV) July - Nothing, giving two months of Summerslam buildup August - Summerslam September - Unforgiven (SD PPV) October - Nothing, to set up Survivor Series November - Survivor Series December - Nothing, or perhaps a $20 "Best of" two or three hour show recapping the year's top angles and highlighting the best PPV/TV matches (uninterrupted by commercials like on the Year-End RAWs) of the year?

Gotta be X-7. 15 was horribly overbooked with all the ref bumps, and Austin's tank was on E at 19.

"Stop looking at my gameplans."

Hmm, based on those matchups, I'd go with Palmer (though that might be a tough matchup as well). Collins has a TON of weapons at his disposal, but I'm still not totally sold on him. I'd rank them Palmer, Collins and Brooks (who is wildly inconsistent).
-
Putzier might be a good pick, as would Stevens. I'd go with Putzier myself.

At least you don't need to flip through 20 pages of NFL tiebreakers, all the way down to "Team X must win by Y points and keep three balls in the air while Team A cannot lose by more than B points and keep three chainsaws in the air."

Sunday - Nothing much really catches my eye Monday - MNF along with RAW Tuesday - How I Met Your Mother and Commander in Chief look interesting, but I hope the new Amazing Race isn't as bad as it's being made out to be Wednesday - I started to get into Lost towards the end of season 1, so I'll definitely be up for Season 2. I'll check out Invasion as well. Thursday - I'm already looking forward to Everybody Hates Chris Friday - I'll check out Ghost Whisperer for my weekly dose of JLH's breasts as long as it is on (which won't be long). Threshold looks interesting as well.

Childress would probably have been a good special teams player, but he'll probably be signed to the practice squad as insurance for Bethel Johnson. Terrell barely played in preseason, so they probably were low on him from the start (which is probably why the Davis trade happened). Oh well, they didn't break the bank for him. Alexander played well, and he'll probably go to the practice squad as well.

I DO believe that if, for example, the A's and Angels end up in a tie for the division title, the loser of the playoff cannot win the wild card even if they have a better record than say, the Yankees.
-
Ghost Whisperer won't make it past three episodes I think. From what I saw, the only thing worth looking at (suprise, surprise) is JLH's cleavage and the acting is pretty damn bad. Plus, it's on Friday night which always is death for a new series.

I created a thread for opening week, so move all discussion there. Thanks.

On Thursday night, the 2005 NFL season kicks off as the Raiders play the Patriots in Foxboro. Use this thread to discuss that and all the other games of week 1.

Steve Smith's coming off injury, so I'd see how he comes out of the gate before starting him regularly. I'd start Johnson, Stokley and Branch, myself. Rogers is also coming off injury (and has been injured each of the last two years). Your team is solid at WR and good at RB (depending on how Jackson plays), but if Peyton goes down, I don't know if I'd trust your backups.
-
I'm in as well and I'm going with the Rams.
-
Yeah, the Angels would win the WC via head-to-head tiebreaker over the Yankees, although I would think they would have a one-game playoff if there was a tie in the WC.
-
So, with the NFL season just about to start and since many of our posters play in fantasy leagues, this thread is here for people to ask for advice regarding setting their lineups, who to pick up on waivers, finding the best matchups, etc. I'll start it off: Should I start Mark Clayton in Week 1 against Indy? My other starting WRs are Hines Ward (vs. Tennessee), Darrell Jackson (at Jacksonville) and Eddie Kennison (vs. the Jets).

PK will be in the house. Might he find an opponent for Dirty Deeds, which will be in his homestate? Hmm.......maybe.
-
On the flipside, who in the Sox pen can I rely on to hold a lead that's not 8-10 runs? And they've sucked against the East teams that aren't from Tampa, especially Toronto and Baltimore, who they're facing two more times each this month (including this weekend). Of course, I don't think either team is making it to the ALCS if they get in (unless one draws the White Sox), so....

I'm not sure who said it (it might have been here), but I'm starting to agree with the feeling that the "Disaster plan" New Orleans officials had was "Evacuate as many as you can, let the city flood, drag out the bodies when the water recedes."
