I really don't think BenRo's rookie experience will really effect anything, since the guy is so well protected with that defense and running game. Numbers wise, he didn't have anything close to a Pro Bowl season, but he didn't screw up at the worst possible times, which needs to continue over the next 3 weeks. But if a team contains Bettis/Staley, and the defense isn't up to snuff, I would worry about putting the game in Ben's hands, because he's never been in that kind of situation in the pros.

All right, I'm now officially sick of Vicky and the Douche and actively root for their elimination. Yes, Jonathan is a complete prick, but Victoria is so fucking whiny and dumb that you really can't feel all that sorry for her when Jonathan goes off. At least Adam sucked it up and did that goddamn diving challenge. And yeah, I think I gotta move Kris up over Hayden in the Juggs Factor. (Mmmm.....Kris on top of Hayden...... ......*ahem*, what was I talking about?)

Well, the more you rush, the more clock you chew up, and the less time the opposing offense has on the field. I still think to win, teams have to have good balance on offense (or a couple of big playmakers), can stop the run, hold teams off in the red zone, and cause more turnovers than they give up. That seems to be the best recipe for success in the NFL.

If they get that chanter guy from Conan, they could: "America is actually a melting pot of many cultures and religions, where everyone has the right to free expression, and with effort can accomplish anything they want to. You are just deluded to racial stereotypes and don't want to face facts and see that America even tolerates you saying many bad things about it. I hope one day you take a good look around and see how wrong you are being when making the kinds of comments that you do. And if you wanted to change the perceptions of Arab-Americans, why become a wrestler? You could do more good as a spokesman for some Arab-American group." Just read that like him. I guarantee it would be funny.

But Tom's season long look into the correlation between running and winning (results here) kind of flies in the face of that. Though the Pats never really had a "dominant" RB in either '01 or '03. I guess it's really all about balance (which the Pats had last year), or total dominance on one side of the ball (see: the 2000 Ravens, the 1985 Bears) that decides if a team is worthy of a title. Of course, you really can't discount Special Teams either (which pretty much won the '01 AFC title game, and two Super Bowls).

So apparently all that stands between Derek Lowe and a 4-year, $36M contract with the Dodgers is a physical, which Lowe is heading to LA for. Pitching in the NL should help him, as well as pitching in Dodger Stadium, but the guy is wildly inconsistent during the season.

Steelers 23. Jets 19 Patriots 42, Colts 28 Eagles 27, Vikings 24 (OT) Falcons 28, Rams 21 The way to keep the Colts at bay (since physical play with the receivers will be a no-no) is to let Manning go nuts in the middle of the field, and clamp right down in the red zone (the Pats are 4th or 5th in red zone D, I think). And like I keep saying, the Pats have put up plenty of points against Indy. In the opener, they kicked 5 FGs; turn some of those into TDs, and that game wouldn't have been close.

Here's the thread for the last WC game. Live chat on AIM: tsmplayoffchat.

We're seeing the Colts' Achilles Heel right now: their secondary and linebacking corps sucks. Brady and the Pats have torched them for 32 ppg in the last few years, so they need to find out a way to keep that down, since, even though Law and Poole are out, the Pats have LBs that can pick it off as well as anyone.
-
In my eyes, it looks like the way to stop the Colts' offense is to do much like the Patriots did to the Rams in SB 36: almost never blitz, put in 5-6-or even 7 DBs, and stay with the receivers and HIT THEM when they get the ball. Of course, if the refs get too happy with the chuck rule, then you have to get into a shootout.
-
That just might be the ballgame. Denver was playing the Indy receivers too damn soft today. Get up there and nail them the second they catch the ball.

Cost of a hot dog and beer at Shea next year: 89.55. Don't even ask for Cracker Jacks; you might have to take out a second mortgage
-
Any questions about the Colts, Jim Nance? Yeah, can they do this OUTSIDE? Or are they like the Rams and are specifically built to play well in a dome?
-
I'm guessing Randall Gay will be working extra hard this week, if Manning picking on the rookie here is any indication. A penalty on the Colts!! OMG!
-
You know, I think the Broncos should stop giving the Colts receivers 5 yards of cushion. It's not working well for them.
-
Won't matter because their defense is just getting torched. I don't know if it's because they're afraid of hitting the Colts' receivers because of what the league said to Lynch or what. And you can call a penalty on the Colts anytime you're ready, refs.
-
And, once again, the Broncos refuse to show up for the playoffs.
-
Bad overturn. Lelie had control and moved forward. It was a fumble more than anything else.
-
And the game ends on a Seahawks dropped pass. Fitting.
-
Am I being punished for something? This might be one of the worst playoff games in NFL history. Fortunately the chat is taking my mind off things.

Rock's book starts off well, but once he goes into character for most of the second half when talking about his feud with Stone Cold, it gets almost unreadable.

I deleted the other two for you. Al's not on, so I allowed separate threads for each game, and the aformentioned chatroom could use more people.

It's bad, but it's not like it's the most devastating thing. The team still went 8-2 without him, and they still are near the tops in the league against the pass. Manning will get pressured by the Pats' front line, and the Pats will put up a bunch of points on the Colts (they've averaged something like 32 a game in the last few years). Pittsburgh might, MIGHT be a different story. EDIT: Ok, so I looked it up and they are middle of the road, but it's not just cornerbacks that play defense, you know. Seymour being out will be more of a problem than Law.

See, I think giving the title to Cena might even be a WORSE decision than JBL, because the guy's character is fast becoming really stale, and he might be the most limited (ringwise) upper card guy in the company.
-
What's next for Batista after that? Can he hold that fan support in a feud against Edge? There really isn't much after that if he's a face. Actually, even if he turns back to heel, we've seen him with Jericho a million times, same with Benoit. A feud with Orton would probably be interesting. JBL seems to be the total opposite from Batsta: has the charisma and ability to cut good promos, but hasn't shown the goods in the ring to justify keeping a top title for, what, 6 months now?
