Yeah this game has a lot of bugs... so does NBA 2k5 for that matter. I had to replay a season game against the Falcons six times, because the game kept hanging at some point during the game.

This thread has been HIGHLY entertaining. I said it last year, and I'll say it again. It does not matter what players that the Sox get, until they string up Dan Shaugnessy (sp) and the Boston media for perpetuating the Curse talk for all this time and Boston as a sports town gets their heads out of their collective asses and simply cheers on their team (the Pats winning two out of three championships has softened it somewhat), and quits acting like NYC's whining, bitchy little brother (and not just in sports, either), it will be a LONG time before their baseball team gets past the Yankees, never midn winning the World Series. In other words, the Sox need to just go to work and do their jobs. Like the Mariners of 99 I think, you can win every game during the regular season, and it won't mean *shit* if you get run out of the playoffs on a rail. And this is coming from a Yankees fan. Boston has become infinitely more pathetic every since the "Yankees Suck" chants, t-shirts, etc. The thing that kills me is that when the "Who's Your Daddy" chants and t-shirts start coming out (which to me is no better than what the Sox fans have been doing, admittedly), Boston got all up in arms about it. Pathetic.

anyone who pays more than 25 dollars over list price for a gaming system just isn;t thinking, whining middle-class kids or not. That goes back to the TV/VCR/DVD/PS/Xbox/GC being a babysitter, which I am not going to go into. When I think about it, I was calling those people paying two to four times the list price for a PS2 idiots, myself. Christmas of '01 was just too damn bizarre with people putting ads in the paper, selling PS2s for $800-1200. I wanted one pretty badly but I could wait a year or so for the price to come down and better games to be out on the market. Its the blockbuster movie theory; I always wait at least two weeks after the release date of a movie I really want to see, so the crowds will die down. The same goes for gaming systems, even if I have enough money to get it right when it comes out.

I'm going to keep mine just because I am loathe to give up all of my tweaked CAWs, only to start all over again. I will trade in my SYM and two or three others, though.

The Dreamcast also died because Sega dropped the ball as far as support goes, which is why the only system that had any longevity was the Genesis. Every system after that crapped out before its time. Andrew, I think you;re being a touch too harsh here. I will agree that those who buy a system right when it comes out is begging for trouble, but thats the way things have been: there are those who just HAVE to have it first. Its that whole "keeping up with the Joneses" thing, which I personally never bought into. But to call them idiots, that smacks of a bit of elitism, bro. PS2s will break under heavy usage sometime after the first year. My gf bought me one for Sweetest Day in March of 03, and it died on me after about a year, but it was pulling double duty as a game machine and a DVD player. Sony's quality marque has gone down over recent years because of this, IMO. The PS3 is going to be a real test for Sony. Remember when PS2s were in high demand because Sony ran out of chips to make them? I thought it was a piece of marketing BS, but hey, just my opinion. Every piece of hype is going to ensure a feeding frenzy for the system, no matter *when* it comes out.

I played the first level, and this game lives up to the hype and then some. It looks great, the combat system is fluid, and the little extras (like the X-Men Trivia in the mansion for additional XP) are what sold me completely. Activision has scored a major victory with this one, and there needs to be more games like this.

I liked 2k4, even though I going to trade it in. And the $20 price point is what got me to pick up an NFL game in almost ten years, so of course I am going to get 2k5.

I finished watching ANH and TESB. To me, the changes made sense. The Greedo scene is much more satisfactory even though I still prefer the original, but I have learned to let that go. The picture quality just blew me away, and I have a 19 inch TV that I am going to have to replace before long. I have yet to watch RoTJ, because everyone I know who has it has been telling me about the trailer. I'll run a search for the trailer that Downhome mentioned.

I'm really looking forward to this game.... I didn't know how much until last night when I'm laying in bed watching tv and the commercial for it came on (with Patrick Stewart's voice, no less) and I started marking out like a 12 year old....

I was supposed to get my copy today, but the UPS guy already came and went before I got home... I hope I get it today, but I can wait until tomorrow.. As for the extras, I saw the documentary on A&E, and the wonderstruck 8 year old in me started coming out. I am going to enjoy this series, and I have the trilogy on VHS too, so if I feel any outrage over the Greedo scene, I can always pop in the tape and cue it up to that point. I'm old enough to say that I know I am going to be happy with this, and its something that I will be happy that it is a part of my growing DVD collection. And Lushus ain't the only black geek on here.

I agree. Rampage wasn't THAT popular, certainly not enough to warrant that place in a classic arcade compliation.

Interesting side conversation about Japanese society, off-topic or not. I am awaiting FFAC with bated breath, as I am liking the story arc... and as for the game, we shall see. I'm nowhere as geeked about that, though.

This is thread that I forgot about.... so when is the release date?
-
Heh, this ain't SF:SCE with 9 stars worth of speed.... And I always hated playing turbo speeds anyway.

I have to admit the Datel controller feel very good.. I was playing ESPN 2K5 with it and I did pretty well... I will be getting the interact controller by wednesday.

Good call on that Southern Boys/Midnight Express match. That was one of the better tag team wrestling matches. I always loved how everyone sold Eaton's right hand. Vader-Z-man, Steiners-Freebirds, Steiners-Sting/Luger. Dr. Death/Gordy-Australian tag team during CotC tag team tournament. Wargames I and II, and I wish I could find a good copy of the second match they did in Miami. Bret/Benoit, Owen Hart tribute match. I just get captivated every time I watch it. Hogan/Warrior from WM6, that was a HUGE match for its time, in a few ways. Steiners/Road Warriors, To me this was a straight up dream match.

Considering Flair engineered jumping Dusty in the parking lot, no wonder the fans got behind him. But short of pulling a gun or a knife on someone in the ring and murdering them outright, Flair could do little wrong in the old NWA days.

Gamestop and half.com, respectively--both used. However, in both cases they were apparently the last ones there. So check your local EBs/Gamestops, I suppose. Here's what it looks like, BTW. That sucks because I found a controller that looks something like that in EBGames today but I didn;t pull the trigger.... I bought a Datel controller and memory card for $20 at Best Buy... and I hit quite a few stores today as well, looking for controllers like that... though I will check those places out, too. Thanks. EDIT: I found one for 9.99 on shoplet.com. Yay me.

Not bad looking.... where did you get one for three bucks though, and where did you order them online? I might pick one of these up.

I still am having trouble using my own created playbook in season mode, though my Bucs are 1-0 in the regular season. Can someone help with that, because I have tried pretty much everything and nothing works. I have to admit I enjoy kicking the crap out of Jamie Kennedy in Crib Mode. Annoying bastard.
-
A Gauntlet mode would have made the game a lot closer to perfect in my eyes. That was one of the things I *loved* abotu Alpha 2 for the Saturn. And the Saturn controller was pretty good in my eyes, though the six-button for the Genesis remains my all-time favorite. Alpha 3 sold me on the gauntlet that Chun-Li had to run at the end. With the advent of the Alphas, I had to abandon Sagat because his fighting style changed along with his appearance, and I hated the changes. But thats okay, it gave me a chance to get *really* good with Ryu and Chun-li. And those Cammy clones were *fun* to fight, once you learned how. But I do agree with most of what you are saying, in that Alpha 3 seemed like a bunch of ideas badly cobbled together. Fortunately the gameplay saved it.

I checked it out and its interesting.... the rules aren;t hard to grasp, and it sounds like a lot of fun. It only figures that Rey Mysterio would have a Dex of 20.

Oh I know he's not, but that was for strictly nostalgic purposes, when I was learning how to use him in a defensive fighting style. Thank for the code though.. and I still have to get used to playing with a PS 2 controller, the buttons on the EA controller I bought early in the year stick like hell, which is too bad, it feels more comfortable than a lot of controllers that I have tried. I refuse to buy MadCatz because as you, I, Ayanka and anyone else knows, they are dried-up pieces of dog crap that will break after about three months of moderate use. I was actually thinking about getting the SF-specfic controller, but I think I will just look around on the net for something better, as I play a lot more games than just SF. Media Play had an interesting one made by Logitech, but 60 bucks is a little more than I am willing to spend on a PS2 controller.
-
I have to agree. When pushed to it, I could play the Alphas with a Sony pad, though I had a better one just for that. I have an EA controller that I got for Baldur's Gate II, so I will use that and see if that helps. I would play right now, but I think I need sleep more than anything else. Film at 11. And thats what I respect about you, Andrew, that you'll call yourself out for something like that little rant on Capcom.
