Haha not a chance. HHH needs his time to shine in the main event of the biggest event of the year.

Vince McMahon Not Happy With Joey Styles
Danville_Wrestling replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
If Vince hates it that much he should just go back and commentate. I actually didn't hate Vince doing commentary most of the time because he had a good working relationship with Lawler (before the pre-perversion days of his character). Also, McMahon-Heenan commentating the 1993 SummerSlam match of Yokozuna-Lex Luger was awesome and got everyone I was watching with very into the match. With that said, though, some things Vince did were bad such as the "ONETWOTHREEHEGOTHIMNOHEDIDN'T" phrase and the "WHATTA MANUEVER" for lots of big moves in matches involving HBK, Jannetty, and the Steiner Brothers. Gotta feel bad for Styles too. He's doing what he's good at and this company is too fucked up to realize that maybe he'd do a better job if the writing/booking made any sense to tell a story. -
This has not been a good year for the Republicans.

You do know we have a thing called the Libertarian Party. I didn't much like the LP candidate in the last election. I saw him give a few speeches here and there and was greatly underwhelmed. Therefore, no vote from me in this election. As far as the HSA's go, I think President Bush wants to accompany them with "catastrophic health insurance." The HSA's give you money for minor medical expenses which, the theory goes, would make people reign in costs because they are using their own money. However, this does have a negative because catastrophic health insurance does carry high deductibles and a great many Americans may not be able to purchase them. Politically, I think that health costs need to be solved in a better way than the European system (due to the fact that increasing quantity of the care = decreasing quality of the care + a fiscal nightmare for the govt.) but Bush's plan is bad b/c it wants more tax cuts which will strain the budget and it's the wrong issue to tackle due to the recent Medicare debacle. Then again, Bush doesn't have much else to go with since his Social Security plan was blown to bits and his tax reform panel is being completely ignored. -
Of course the writers aren't wrestling fans. They're getting them from Hollywood and all that other b.s. I still don't know how in the HELL they expect to make WM respectable by having two heels go into WM trying to win the world title belts, especially having Orton fight Angle. Hell, Mysterio won the damn Rumble so let him go to WM. The fans are going to crap all over that bait and switch. It's almost as if they want business to tank on purpose. I also feel bad for Edge. RAW was fresh for the three weeks he was champ and now I guess we're back to the same old, same old.

Any chance Chavo pulls the upset here which sends HHH on a rampage to destroy anything that moves in the coming weeks?.....Nah, didn't think so.
-
I've always wanted to be a referee. It's funny b/c while my other friends wanted to be Hogan or HBK I wanted to be Earl Hebner...weird.
-
I always thought Bob Backlund had the longest time at the Rumble in excess of 63 minutes. I'm probably mistaken but I thought he had the all-time record.
-
Well I don't know quite what to make of this booking. If the Meltzer rumor is true, though, it's going to be disastrous if they have Mysterio lose to Orton at NWO and lose the WM match.
-
Well at least the final four is a little intriguing even though it was predictable.
-
Shane eliminated HBK? WTF?!?!
-
C'mon Shelton!! Hey, I can hope right? EDIT: Oh well.
-
Or at least that's what they want us to think....
-
Why in the hell did they choose one of the worst color teams possible to do the Rumble?
-
So is Orton going to be number 30?
-
Damn. That's four eliminations by HHH and as you notice they are the most "over" people on the RAW Roster: Flair, Big Show, Kane, and Chavo. This is total bullshit.
-
I agree. Jobber matches are OK as far as I'm concerned, but they need to have at least a "big" main event every week that means something. However, I can see the logic behind keeping both Rhino and Abyss strong so I was thinking it'd end up as a no contest from the beginning.

Yea, I almost marked out for the Lethal-Jarrett match. So who gives Christian a fair shot at beating Jarrett at Against All Odds?

Haha, well of course Bush's second term has thus far been a failure. He's had a disputed election in Iraq, his Social Security plan went absolutley NOWHERE, and his tax reform package is stalled in Congress and no one wants to touch it with a ten foot pole. Now he's trying to reform American health care which I totally don't get. After all, his Medicare benefit package has left some poor seniors without their medicine and states are now having to pay for it in the interim. Plus, his plan is calling for more individual tax breaks on health care which is not going to stop the massive spending on health care (it will probably increase it), will benefit the wealthy at the expense of the poor, and will cause even BIGGER deficits. I'm a conservative, don't get me wrong, but this administration just doesn't know when to lock onto an issue it can win or go about doing 'reforms' the right way so they will be accepted. No wonder I voted for Nader in 2004. -
Hamas wins big in elections
Danville_Wrestling replied to Zorin Industries's topic in Current Events
I'm not exactly overreacting to the election of Hamas just yet. I want to see what they are going to do in power and if they learn that negotiations with Israel is going to have to happen if they ever want to get a state. However, if Hamas doesn't renounce its beliefs that Israel should be wiped out, that they should never negotiate with Israel, and that Jews caused the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, World War I, and World War II then I will be worried. Also, once again, this has NOTHING to do with America. This is purely a domestic issue among the Palestinians and their digust at Fatah although I guess some could make the claim that America's policy statements against Hamas may have increased their "street cred" a little bit for the Palestinian people, but I don't think that's enough to sway an election. A little off topic, but the Christian Science Montior has an op-ed piece several days ago that said we should consider making a truce with Osama bin Laden......looks like the good ol' Munich Pact mindset is back people! -
WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily
Danville_Wrestling replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
The only two matches I'd like to see Hogan in at WM that might get a buyrate from me would be Hogan vs. Foley or Hogan vs. Cena. According to Meltzer it doesn't appear Hogan-Cena is going to work out so I'd buy into a Hogan-Foley program. The only issue, though, is whether Hogan would work with Foley b/c didn't Hogan prefer to work with Cena, Angle, or Big Show? I don't necessarily think Foley would have to take on a persona to wrestle Hogan at WM, although if he chose one I think he'd have to be Cactus Jack. I mean, Foley could just go off about how Hogan hasn't busted his ass as much as he did for the business and didn't have to pay as many dues to get to the top as he did. However, while the mic work for this feud would be pretty good to watch I bet the match would be atrocious as I don't think Hogan would be taking the bumps necessary for a hardcore match situation. -
The OAO Smackdown Thread for 1-27-06
Danville_Wrestling replied to SuperJerk's topic in The WWE Folder
This was the first time I've gotten to see Smackdown! in a while since I get UPN at college and don't get it when I'm back at home. I was thoroughly impressed with tonight's show from top to bottom and it beats the hell out of the crap I've had to endure on RAW. I loved the JBL-Jillian segment and what they are doing with the Boogeyman. It may get stale in a few months but it's keeping my interest right now. Also, the Benoit-Orton match kicked all kinds of ass. It was better than I expected it to be. I especially liked the finish where Benoit used the trash can lid on Orton and immediately locked in the crossface. -
Hamas wins big in elections
Danville_Wrestling replied to Zorin Industries's topic in Current Events
This definitely IS NOT a backlash against the West by the Palestinians. The reason Fatah got voted out is because they have long been a corrupt organization that no longer has any moral clout among the Palestinian people. In this election Hamas had a better organized force on the ground to bring out the vote and talked about issues the Palestinians cared about such as healthcare, education, poverty reduction, etc. Hamas also has a massive social network to help Palestinains, something that the corrupt Fatah has failed to achieve. If this election is a backlash against anything it is a backlash against the corrupt Fatah movement that Yasser Arafat left behind. Also, I find it funny that political pundits are now calling for a return to the Camp David agreement in 2000. If the Palestinians WANTED peace then they would've signed on because Barak was offering them a state that included all of Gaza, 90% of the West Bank, autonomy over the Temple Mount, a shared capital in E-Jerusalem, and the right of Palestinian refugees to return ANYWHERE in the Palestinian state except for pre-1967 Israel. However, the Palestinians in my mind don't want to make peace with Israel. They want to drive them into the sea and out of the Middle East completely which I think is also personified in this election. Then again, the 'Palestinian' people already got their state in the 1920s when Israel was created by the British for the Jews and Trans-Jordan was created for the Arabs so if the "Palestinians" really want a state they should go to Jordan because that's where they are supposed to be. Might sound cruel, but that's just history. -
Please, don't give them any ideas. Hilarious post otherwise.

Thanks for supplying the Bobby Knight info Dama, I got a good laugh out of it. UConn should be #1 but Louisville looked pretty good throughout much of the game. However, they need Dean back quickly so they don't get jobbed out too much in the conference. Thank god UK won today as well. It looks like their shooting is getting better with Patrick Sparks and Rondo stepping up to make two huge 3's down the stretch. However, they are going to have to play much better as Tennessee and Florida loom large on the schedule.

And I agree with you for the most part. However, I think almost every nominee should be able to get a vote without being filibustered on the Senate floor. The GOP does have some liberal and moderate minded senators who I'm sure don't want a far right-wing nut on the Supreme Court (ex. Susan Collins). I could only view a filibuster in terms of extraordinary circumstances where someone is so unqualified it necessitates one (ex. Harriet Miers) and I don't think that fits Alito at all. I just think the Democrats should let this one go b/c I think they are positioned well for 2008 if they run someone like Mark Warner or maybe an Evan Bayh and then that person can put a liberal on the court to shift the balance again. Believe me, Stevens is probably going to be the next to go but he's just holding out for a Democrat to come in so he has another liberal replace him.
