  1. This match seems to have been rather unfairly deemed the only non-women's match not to get that all-important ***** rating. I guess it just can't compare to the other, equally filler-tastic, 4 way.
  2. I'm not saying the bottling was justified, indeed with so many stages at Reading people could easily have found someone else that they wanted to watch (as I did when I'd finished laughing at the godawful performance by the Streets last year), but the promoter shouldn't be so surprised that it happened. Reading has a history of acts being bottled (Meatloaf in 88, Daphne and Celeste- who Reading clearly only booked so they WOULD get bottled- in 98 and even Good Charlotte last year) and they should surely have realised that 50 Cent, who had nothing in common with any other act on the stage that day, would go down like a lead balloon with the crowd.
  3. I've always prefered the WCW Big Gold Belt, it just looks like a belt fitting for a champion. Watching the Flair DVD, the belt just adds something to his aura as champion, which I don't think the WWF title could have done.
  4. Maybe they should look at WHY 50 Cent got bottled off? You put a rapper who nicely represents the blimg bling/chav culture in the UK on the same stage as the likes of Green Day and the Dropkick Murphys, and he really does stand out like a sore thumb. Comparing Public Enemy, a band who actually had something to say with their music and wrote great, challenging rap songs with the guy who sings about being a "motherfucking PIMP" is ridiculous. Again, these acts, like them or not (and I personally can't stand the Streets) don't represent a culture that is hated by 99% of people who go to Reading and are actually doing something interesting within the genre.
  5. "You Can't Say Crap On The Radio" by the Stiff Little Fingers
  6. If I recall correctly, the Giant had just learnt how to perform a moonsault and Nash was too scared to be on the receiving end of such a move, which sucks because I'd have loved to see Paul Wight hit that before his decline to obesity
  7. "Nothing But A Tank Thing" was great stuff. Just the image of 3 Count dancing in the background, while Tank sings about pulling out someone's spleen was gold!
  8. That explains his "September 11th" line during the Un-Americans run, although that could still be considered "extremely distasteful"
  9. Hey, Moz's solo stuff is awesome in places. "Vauxhall And I" and "Your Arsenal" are two of the most under-rated albums of the 90's IMO. Admittedly it tailed of a bit in the late 90's, but his comeback this year was more dignified than most of his peers (esp. compared to the Johnny Marr and the Healers album) and "First Of The Gang To Die" is a grade A piece of songwriting.
  10. Ok, so "genius" may be too strong a word, but they're still pretty damn good
  11. I've always been aware that, sometime in the mid-90's, Courtney Love was facing criminal charges for attacking Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill, but, as I'd never heard of that band, I didn't especially care. Now, however, having discovered the genius of Le Tigre (the band Hanna formed in the late 90's), it dawned on me that I don't know what happened or why, which is pretty strange considering it's a semi-famous "event" in the 90's. A google search found me nothing, so I was wondering if people could fill me in on what actually happened and why?
  12. "Topsy-Turvy" by the Apex Theory, which I found for 99p while house-hunting in Nottingham. I get the feeling I'm going to like this city...
  13. "Let's Stop Hanging Out" by Reuben
  14. Everything about the Quaker shirt just yells out "cheap"! Even the badly cutout Taker face looks dreadful. That will surely be the worst selling shirt they'll ever make...well, behind the HLA one they made.
  15. It certainly helped that I'd watched the worst horror movie I'd ever seen the night before- Zombie Nosh, which manages to combine horrible acting (and I mean bad by rubbish horror movie standards!), repetitive plot (zombies attack a household, the same two kids survive and go to the next house, zombies attack household, etc) and terrible editing. In comparison, TCM:NG was at the very least watchable, especially McConaghey, who was clearly having a blast making the thing.
  16. Delirious could definitely get over, the guy's funny as hell. It'd be strange to see him team with Sydal, especially as they were fueding over the IWA Jr Heavyweight title very recently. Delirious/Webb would make a good team though, both have the charisma to get over if given the chance.
  17. Great No Mercy too man, thought the finish to Collyer/Rhyno was great and the Acid/O'Haire storyline is interesting too
  18. Learning to enjoy unemployment... The Independent- 9/10. Great Jerry Stiller/Janeane Garofalo film that I picked up on a whim for £3. Funny as hell mockumentary on b-movies, the footage of "Teenie Weenie Bikini Beach" made it worth £3 alone Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation- 5.5/10. Carried by Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaghey, both of whom are so good that you almost forget about the fact that the plot makes no fucking sense
  19. Hopefully that means he wont destroy any Smiths songs in the same way he did "Tainted Love" or "Personal Jesus" then.

    English Football

THANK YOU Robbie Earnshaw!!! Was well on the way to the most embarrassing Welsh defeat for, oooh, 11 months, before Earnie saved the day. NOT looking forward to the England game, even if Giggs and Davies will be back. Oh well, at least Super Jermain Defoe got a goal and sounds like Robbo did pretty well too.
  21. If I lived in the states, I'd go see the CZW show for sure, simply because you'll get so many different styles of action. The Butcher/Beater match should be sheer carnage and thus a lot of fun, Knoxx/Flash in the cage could be the sleeper of the night, both 4 ways look good (especially the return of Super Dragon), not sure how Pain/Messiah will compare to CoD IV, but it certainly has the potential to be good, Hero/Shelley will bring the workrate goodness and Bailey/Webb/Cash will bring the awesome highspot insanity.
  22. Best on the list: The Smiths Best of the 80's: The Smiths. Followed by The Specials (Coventry represent!), Dexy's Midnight Runners, REM, Orange Juice (Edwyn Collins=the UK's most underrated songwriter) and *mumbles* Tiffany
  23. *Waits for the IWA-MS worker to be Trik Davis...*
  24. "Open Road" by Gary Barlow
  25. 1994 was the year I first started properly watching wrestling, and there were so many great matches that year I have to go for that- Bret/Owen at WM, Bret/Owen at Summerslam, HBK/Razor at WM, Nastys/Foley and Payne at Spring Stampede...great year for wrestling
