I think this entire discussion boils down to how one perceives human nature. Some here believe that people will ultimately do what's right for the common good, and thus will only use services such as unemployment pay to help themselves and their families (if they have them) temporarily until they obtain other, gainful employment (which presumably they've been actively looking for ever since their previous employment terminated). Presumably this is Rant. Then there are others who think that people ultimately will act in their own best interests, and thus if given the opportunity will selfishly and greedily abuse programs such as unemployment assistance or welfare regardless of the fact that doing so causes everyone, in the end, to suffer the ramifications of that greed. This would be Mike. I personally follow the latter ideology, but then again, it has less to do with my own socio-political philosophy, but rather everything to do with the fact that I've always been a pessimistic, cynical soul who thinks that most people are assholes.....it's just a matter of how well-mannered an asshole they are. Unlike Mike, though, I'd definitely be taking that unemployment check. Woo hoo! Free money!!!!

If I may ask, downloaded it where? I'd love to check this out.

I see I shan't be able to sway anyone about Hulk. But what about predictions, huh? I threw out one for next week (Hellboy coming in at #2 with around 18 mill, behind Scooby Doo still at #1). Anyone else have predictions as to what the figures for next weekend will be?

Bloody hell. If I want to order this on CD AND pay by using a money order, this is going to cost me an extra 15 bucks. Actually 16 if you factor in the cost of the money order. As much as I want this game, I hadn't intended on paying $51 for it. Anyone know what the size of TEW is going to wind up being? Because the whole reason I want to get a CD is because I'm afraid that my pissant little 56k connection won't be able to handle the download.

I'm nothing close to sympathetic towards junkies or Rush in particular over his drug problems. But really, if he does do this, and it's just a full out assault on Rush for using drugs, than I don't really see how Franken's fans (especially those on the left) can really support him on this issue. Because even to me that just seems petty and perhaps unnecessarily vicious.

Why is Raven being shit on by guys like James when he's 100% right? If the talent looks like some schmuck from the crowd, like someone who runs a backyard fed or is nondescript like some indy guys appear to be, than they will fail. Having a distinct or unique look or character instantly boosts your chances of connecting in *some* way (good or bad) with the crowd.

Hulk was a GOOD movie. The problem was, Ang Lee actually bothered to insert a plot into it, rather than just have two hours of Hulk smashing stuff. So people shit on it. I think Hulk was one of the better Marvel films that have been made, actually.

RVD & Christian are another one of those combos that always put on great matches. I gave than an unofficial feud a while back, and every match they had together was, at a minimum, ****1/2.

I'm somewhat disappointed with the performance of "Dawn", but still, I think it'll wind up being profitable in the end. The real story here is how poorly "Eternal Sunshine" is doing. I mean, yeah, it's not your typical Jim Carrey movie, but it is still Jim Carrey. I'd have thought it would have done more business, but the way things are going, "Hidalgo" will make more by far. Anyone have any predictions for next week? I can see Hellboy as #2 (behind Scooby, sadly) with around 18 mill.

You two, take it outside. Er....to the NHB folder, I mean.

I find that as time goes by, the less of a Kevin Smith fan I become. What am I saying? At this point, I'm not a fan. At best, he inspires apathy.

If Sophie hasn't said it's time, it's not time. Ending the feud early won't benefit both workers, and in fact more often than not it will cause your workers to LOSE overness.

Is this worth it? I mean, I know, fame and fortune, and "making it in the WWE!" means a lot to people in the wrestling industry, but really.....is shit like this worth it? If you have any self-respect for yourself, can you really look at yourself in the mirror each morning and do this sort of gimmick, which is both incredibly embarrassing and offensive at the same time? I don't care if he's got bills to pay, or mouths to feed.....at some point, enough's enough. Christ. Just put him in Doink makeup again. That gimmick, while old, is still 2949 times better than this.

That's the second episode I've seen of the show, and I really, really dug it. Here's hoping Fox gives it a chance, because I'd like to see more of this program, rather than they pull the plug on it (like they do virtually every Friday night program it seems).

Former "Terrorism Czar" speaks out against Bush
Vyce replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
Sorry for bringing a moment of levity into the ceaseless Bush-bashing / defending debates (that never go anywhere but back in circles, like the proverbial serpent devouring its own tail), Jobber. Allow some of us our little indulgences. -
Somewhere in Orrin Hatch's mind, he thought...
Vyce replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Someone explain to me again why Orrin Hatch should give a fuck what we download? In Hatch's honor, I think I'll go download some graphic pornography on my P2P file share program. -
I do love how hot Rue is. Remember when she interviewed Sable & Torrie about their Playboy shoot? And remember how she totally smoked both of them with her hotness?
-
Off topic, but the pug in that commercial owns.
-
I do love how Rue just sort of stands there for a minute to ponder what the F.B.I. has said.
-
What exactly was the problem with Farooq that no one was unhappy when he was fired?
-
Sad but true. The crowd went silent once Jindrack took over on offense. Who the hell does Dux work for anyway?
-
Back on topic, bitches. Yes, I remember them. Seventeen long years ago. I fed these fucking things to my dog by the HUNDREDS, just to hear the wonderfully cool crunching sound the thoraxes made as my pooch crunched them. I have another dog now, and I look forward to introducing him to the joys (as well as high-in-protein nutrition!) of eating dozens and dozens of bizarre-looking locusts.
-
Not so much a particular show, but I'll watch pretty much anything on Fox that has Kiran Chetry or Dari Alexander on it.

I thought it was the Bush tax cuts, Mike, but you may be on to something. -
Ohhh shit. I remember that Thunder. They come back from a commercial break, with a lead-in being a toy commercial where Nash was pinned. Nash: "Man, I even do a job in the toy commercial." For whatever reason, right before Russo came in someone in the WCW Production department suddenly began producing these badass Meng videos that would air before he came out. So Meng squashes the jobber and Nash says something to the extent of, "You know he had no chance because Meng had a video package." LOL. Some more stuff, from DDTdigest of the 10/14/99 Thunder: "It's Wesley Snipes! Oh wait, it's just Booker T." Nash says he has a video package for the fans. It's a replay of the Goldberg-Sid Vicious situation. Nash is doing a John Facenda-like NFL Films narration. I'm dyin' here. "Bill Goldberg - a bald-headed man with a tattoo - who only has one loss - to the great warrior - ..Kevin Nash - ..standing in the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field --- (Sid comes on) - ..Sid Vicious- .. 6 foot ten - ..290! - ..no - .315! -..no -.350! -.no FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY SEVEN POUNDS!" Oh man, this is priceless. And it goes on. This is great. Beyond words. At the end Tenay says, "shades of Mystery Science Theater." That was good. Tenay states that a tag team matchup has been signed for later tonight. The Total Package-Rick Steiner vs. Buff Bagwell-La Parka. What??? Nash says half the guys didn't show up tonight, so we had to book it earlier today. Awesome. Tenay is smiling and says, "Welcome to the all shoot edition of Thunder." Nash says these guys should know no one gets beat after a sweet package (montage) like that before the match. All shoot-TV indeed. Nash said the BroncoBuster would have been the "Old Glory Skidmarks" had Duggan done it. I NEED THIS THUNDER.
