  1. For you Yankee fans, I am going to see two Columbus Clipper games next week. I'll let you know how bad the farm system sucks.
  2. Great park. I'm about an hour east, in the Poconos. Do you ever go to Red Barons games?
  3. Well, in five years Williamsport's Bowman Field will officially be the oldest park in my region.
  4. Red Sox fans could rent it out for parties!
  5. Great quotes about Reggie... "Reggie's a great guy. He'd give you the shirt off his back. Then he'd call a press conference to announce it." "Not really. I had one. I unwrapped it and it told me how good it was." -Catfish Hunter, asked if he had tried a Reggie bar
  6. I was just thinking that what the Yankees needed were more fat, bloated contracts.
  7. I stand by my statement that the Yankees would be better off calling up ANY of their outfielders in Columbus. Mitch Jones has a .602 slugging percentage. I am sure he could slug at least .400 in Yankee Stadium.
  8. That's not a big deal. Terry Francona used 141 different lineups last year. Ron Gardenhire used 131.
  9. I just noticed that. Thanks for the correction, I should've double checked. One of the Mods, can you fix correct that, please? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Normally I would, but since I'm evil now, I can't do it.
  10. A retractable roof? How often do they have a rainout? This is a bad, bad move for the Yankees. Half of their success is a result of their image. Yankee Stadium is a huge part of that image. Without their classic stadium, they play in just another sterilized park. And why should I drive two hours and brave New York traffic for that?
  11. I had to read that about five times to figure out what the story was, and even then it wasn't that interesting. I could find individual fans that hate just about every player in baseball. Reggie Jackson was a controversial figure in baseball. People don't know that?
  12. Based on this season, he is a prospect. Just remember that it is a long way from Low A ball to the majors. Yankee fans are unlikely to see him until 2008-09, and that is if everything goes right. Keep an eye on him however, as his statistics are very promising.
  13. Look at the market. If teams did not bite on Placido Polanco and Junior Spivey when they were available, I doubt Womack would interest them. San Diego can get by with Geoff Blum, and no other contending team needs a second baseman. And certainly not a second baseman owed $2 Million next season.
  14. My beef with Ruiz is that he gets opportunities he clearly does not deserve. He loses to Evander Holyfield, but gets an immediate re-match. He loses to Roy Jones Jr., but when Jones vacates the title Ruiz gets the first shot. Before Ruiz got the first "title" shot at Holyfield, his most impressive victory was over 39-year old Tony Tucker. The best fighter Ruiz ever faced knocked him flat in 19 seconds. If he can beat top competition, that's good. But I'm tired of guys earning their spots, and then fighting the top boxers if it is convenient. That's what is wrong with the heavyweight division right now. Klitschko needs to fight Byrd. One of those guys needs to fight Ruiz. Someone else needs to step up. So far Klitschko has fought Danny Williams and Corrie Sanders. Woo-hoo. Chris Byrd is the only heavyweight titleholder with a fight even scheduled, and that's against a no-name Russian in September. Tyson's washed-up, but at least he had the decency to take a fight.
  15. There's no chance the Yankees can trade Womack. The best thing to do is make him a bench player as he can play a few positions and pinch-run effectively, but the Yankees' bench is not deep enough for that. One thing for sure though is that the Yankees need to get him out of left field. Any outfielder in Columbus could do the job better right now.
  16. The man is the cockroach of the heavyweight division. Even if he loses, he still manages to keep the belt. And this despite not defeating anyone more impressive than Hasim Rahman (who is now in line for another shot apparently, despite not beating anyone better than Cruiserweight Al Cole since the Lewis upset). Both Byrd and Ruiz are boring fighters. Byrd at least has a win over Vitali, and a little credibility.
  17. Clearly, you have too much self-respect. I have one international league baseball that was given to me as a gift. Otherwise, if I ever catch one, I'm giving it to a kid. I can buy a damned baseball if I want one. A major league pitcher holding a ball does not make it any more than a baseball.
  18. Forget unifying the titles. The organizations are corrupt. Lennox Lewis already unified the titles. At that point, the ABC organizations are dead and buried. Just wait until we either see Klitschko/Byrd, or one heavyweight clearly dominates the field, and just declare your own champion. Why people feel they need to lend credibility to an organization that thinks John Ruiz is a world champion is beyond me.
  19. The Red Sox could try building at first base by calling up Roberto Petagine, who is tearing up AAA right now.
  20. I have the Best of Wrestlemania tape that was released in 1998, and that does not even mention Savage/Steamboat.
  21. That would have been dumb since Benoit was the more over and heavily pushed of the two at the time. Benoit/Austin and Jericho/HHH would have made more sense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't we forgetting that HHH suffered a serious knee injury the previous month?
  22. Urbina is the Phillies' set-up man, and he will grab a few saves here and there when Wagner has the day off (as he did last night).
  23. I drink too much Diet Cola for my own good. As a diabetic though, I try to eat foods that do not contain sugar instead of artificially sweetened foods. Some of the stuff the Atkins fad produced was a joke. Low carb brownies? Some of the stuff we consume barely qualifies as food.
  24. 15-20 replies so far and no jokes comparing it to the romance novel Saddam supposively wrote? For shame.
  25. If he does, likely when Ian Kinsler starts pounding on the door.
