I'm guilty of that at times. It's a bad habit, and you're absolutely right. -
I got bored at work, came up with this list in my spare time. The top 50 stars in wrestling over the last 50 years. The basic criteria is popularity, fame and drawing power. The list is limited to appeal to U.S. wrestling fans. It's a work in progress, but I'm interested in hearing your thoughts. Andre the Giant Steve Austin Fred Blassie Nick Bockwinkel Jack Brisco Dick the Bruiser John Cena Ric Flair Mick Foley Dory Funk Jr. Terry Funk Verne Gagne Bill Goldberg Superstar Billy Graham Bret Hart Hulk Hogan The Junk Yard Dog Gene Kiniski Killer Kowalski Ernie Ladd Jerry Lawler Lex Luger Magnum T.A. Mil Mascaras Wahoo McDaniel Shawn Michaels Rey Misterio Jr. Roddy Piper Harley Race Dusty Rhodes The Road Warriors Jake Roberts The Rock The Rock 'n' Roll Express Buddy Rogers Bruno Sammartino Randy Savage The Sheik Sergeant Slaughter Jimmy Snuka George "the Animal" Steele Sting Chief Jay Strongbow Triple H The Ultimate Warrior The Undertaker Jesse Ventura Kerry Von Erich

Real competitive night, three games are tied in the ninth or later, another tied in the bottom of the eighth.

The Pirates have made a third baseman out of Doug Mientkiewicz. Interesting move. If he can hold up and maintain his career batting numbers, he becomes a useful player again.
-
I'd say only if Gary Sheffield hits the DL for good.

For $1-2 Million yes, but I think Bonds would want more than $10 mil.

Really tough question. Both made twelve All-Star games, both won several Gold Glove and silver slugger awards. Winfield generally did better in MVP award balloting but Larkin actually won the award in 1995. I'll give the nod to Larkin, but it is very close.

It may be a situation of needing to get innings out of some guys. You can go balls out to try and win games now, but that pen will collapse come August.

Then it's not a real blizzard. In a true blizzard, the snow and wind is so blinding that you can not see more than a few dozen yards around you. If you keep your eyes shut and uncovered, the snow and ice will freeze them shut within half an hour. In 1888, 200 people died in the middle of New York City from a blizzard. Reliable forecasting prepares people nowadays but if you get caught in one, the shit is deadly. -

Piper's Pit on MSG is quite amusing, to see Piper and Heenan go on about the Mets/Red Sox World Series (the Sox had taken a 2-0 lead at that point). I can just imagine the Brain character going apeshit when watching Buckner and the tenth inning. -
I caught that Brennaman clip on Youtube. Small point, but it's probably worth noting that it was Brantley that specifically said, "they blame that goat."
-
There are few GMs more capable than Jocketty on the trade market. Jocketty's strength is that he often trades prospects who will not develop into stars, and deals them for useful players at the MLB level.

This is a false meme. Who would you have build it? None of the big oil companies WANT to build more refineries. They are happy with their bottleneck. Sure they would. One of the basics of supply and demand is that as prices rise, sellers desire to sell more goods at that price.

I'm really surprised Bobby Cox and/or Yunel Escobar did not go batshit over that call. If it were Red Sox/Yankees, it would end up on a documentary.

I got a disgusting amount of phone calls the last few days, and not just from presidential candidates. http://www.wnep.com/Global/category.asp?C=...p;nav=menu158_2 Here's something amusing. Check out the bottom race for State House, 113th district. Note the votes from Republicans and compare them with the votes from Democrats. Obviously greater turnout for the democrats due to their presidential primary. The 10th Congressional race is important, as that region has a democratic incumbent but is primarily republican.

Great ninth inning for the Phillies, as Burrell clears the bases with a double and puts the team up 8-6. Brad Harman got his first MLB at bat as well.
-
I hate to keep harping on minor league teams that no one else cares about. Barring a ninth inning miracle though (they're down 13-6), the Lehigh Valley IronPigs are about to fall to 2-18. They have scored just 45 runs in their first 20 games. Brutal. Edit: Here's a fun stat. Counting the Ottawa days, the last time the Phillies' AAA team had a three game win streak was last May.

A nearby restaurant used to do chicken & waffles. They used roasted/baked chicken though, that's the way to go.
-
Why does Wright need to move? The best free agent on the market is likely Mark Teixeira.
-
Like most franchise moves, it's a money grab and pretty disgusting to watch.
-
Do you have some sort of raging desire to make death threats? Agent covers the folder, so this really isn't my call. I'm just giving the best answers I can at the moment.
-
I don't recall saying I'd ban people for making death threats in NHB. If I did, it was years ago. Tzar Lysergic posted a thread that is pinned at the top of that folder in September of '06, that's our current (virtually non-existant) rules of the forum. If you have a problem, ask him about it. There is NO rule currently stating it is off-limits.

Chris Britton, Edwar Ramirez, Ross Ohlendorf. The Yankees aren't lacking in extra arms. Im guessing that trade is in favor of the Yankees then..I thought he was out of baseball. Britton's an odd case. He has not missed any time, he keeps plugging away in Scranton. He puts up good numbers. Doesn't get hit, few home runs, few walks, lots of strikeouts, good ERA. And he has a full season of success in the Majors! Yet the Yankees seem completely uninterested in him.

Because a race isn't a one-on-one contest, so it is harder to win on a regular basis. She's overhyped as far as talent, but it's not like she is undeserving of a spot in the circuit. Frankly, her presence is good for IndyCar racing.
