Liars were supposed to open for Radiohead when I saw them last month and, - judging by various songs of theirs I have heard - I would have been looking forward to that. Unfortunately they were replaced by some lame chick singer who sets abysmal, melodramatic poetry to mindlessly stupid, inept electronic music and goes by the pseudonym of "Bats for Lashes".

I dunno, you could either take it as a work of fact or fiction, and a lot of people do list factual books as their favourites. If somebody deems The Bible to be a work of fiction then yes, it is a pretty terrible choice for a favourite book. Completely monotomous chapters that just repeat the same sentence over and over again with different names attached do not make for good reading.

I don't know whether news of this ever travelled to TSM or not, but Jay-Z's rendition of "Wonderwall" came about in response to Noel Gallagher complaning about him headlining Glastonbury. Seeing Radiohead in person three days ago pretty much cemented "Idioteque" as being my favourite song of theirs. It raised my estimation of "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" and "There There" as well.

I have recently read A Passage to India, which is a wonderful novel, especially during the moments wherein Forster delves into his character's inner thoughts. It's rather dialogue heavy, which I suppose was to be expected. I also dusted off The Communist Manifesto for the second time. It wasn't particularly enjoyable, but I do think that I have improved my understanding of the work, so that's a positive. I purchased No Country for Old Men yesterday, and have read about half of the book so far. If this really is one of his weaker novels as I have heard elsewhere, then I desperately need to sample more of Cormac McCarthy's fiction. The sole complaint that I would raise concerns the lack of apostrophes that're utilised throughout. I realise that the characters themselves are not supposed to have a particularly good grasp of grammar, but did this really have to be extended to the narrative voice?

For a heniously long time I abhored all elements of the taste of mustard, and probably went for a good half of a decade without indulging in so much as a sprinkling of it. However, I recently found it to be the only highlight of Starbucks' otherwise dire sandwhich-menu, and have since replaced ketchup (yes Czech, I do realise that mustard isn't a satisfactory repentance for my previous ketchup sins) with it in every hot-dog that I have eaten.
