well not suprising at all, another generic "homies at the club" video has won best dance video. Won't be suprised to see it win best overall video either.......

Guiness(but you HAVE to be in the mood for the thick beer) Newcastle - fav brown ale Rolling Rock St. Polly Girls - similar to henekin, but better IMO Maudite - for when I want to get drunk, fast and taste isn't a consideration

btw, why are the MLB Chatter threads no longer pinned.....it was a lot more convenient.

In general I am not really a Jet Li fan(besides Fist of Legend), but this flick looks pretty damn good, and doesn't appear to be the typical Jet Li stuff.....I will check it out in a week or two.

If marriage can exist outside of religion, then it must be legal for homosexuals. Civil Unions are a given either way though since they have absolutely NOTHING to do with religion. Plus I know that a lot of companies are now including "domestic partner" benefits in their policy, to show they are open to "different" lifestyles. I'd say if corporations were allowed to be REDEFINED as a person, then we can "redefine" marriage being two adults.

Schwarzenegger to Veto Illegal Immigrant Licenses
NoCalMike replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
There is also going to be a tradeoff though if America ever truly wants to rid illegal immigrants. This is why I truly believe our government has no intention of doing anything, it is just rhetoric for the righter side of things to get votes. Face it, if it was americans(including LEGAL immigrants) doing all that field work, imagine how the price in produce at the grocery stores would skyrocket. When it comes to corporations and profit being tied into government policy, it is just leads me to believe that it is all just hot air being blown up in order to comfort people who don't want illegal immigrants coming over here. -
A report today, said the protests on Sunday drew up to 120,000 and there was about 100 arrests. So I'd say the ratio of sane people with opposing views to the President compared with the nuts, is pretty in favor of the more rational folks. Of course, I am going to just LOVE the media focus ad naseum on the TWO, yes 2 out of 120,000 that set a fire in the street and pretend like that is a widespread activity going on.

Just turn off FM radio for good. That is the best way to protest.

Oh, my bad --- NO CEO did anything wrong for 8 years. Care to provide a link? -=Mike Umm, I didn't say that. My gripe wasn't with Ken lay going down under Bush. I was just trying to stop this "he helped Enron more, no he did, no he did, no he did" nonsense. Of course CEOs were crooked and running rampant under Clinton, as they still are now. Ken Lay went down, that is great, but it is not like any new laws, provisions, trade policies etc.....have been modified that would make it seem like there is any type of effort to actively seek and destroy more law breakers, instead, under the current administration they all just got a huge kickback in tax cuts. Enron made billions under Clinton. Bush refused to bail out his friend --- and refused to protect him from prosecution. And some actual punishment for committing crimes. -=Mike Bush didn't personally hand down any punishment. Ken Lay was caught plain and simple, what choice did Bush have, unless there was absolutely no coverage and/or reports of Lay being caught. Is it good Bush didn't try to go to bat for Lay, Sure, of course it is, but what other choice did he have given the circumstances.

I'm not a doctor so it is hard for me to make a decisive statement on a procedure like PBA.

Silly MikeSC, Abortion ALREADY IS legal....... It will eventually not be. It will go down as an evil on the level of slavery. -=Mike well, if you believe our country will go backwards....... actually, one of my main problems with many prominent abortion foes is the fact that they don't even really believe the shit their shoveling. They know who their base is, and they cater to it. They know damn well that the wealthy and well off folks can care less if abortion is legal or not, because they can still get the procedure done if need be. Like Bob Barr paying for his mistresses abortion, while being a huge anti-abortion activist. I understand the disdain and dislike for the few women that use abortion as birth control, but that is not the majority of abortion cases, and 9/10 times, it is a very difficult and well thought out decision. I know personally, two people who had to go through that decision and each took the opposite route, and I supported both decisions. I don't really view either decision as "wrong" Moreso as a personal decision between a Doctor and Patient.

Under WHICH President were indictments brought under? Under WHICH President did NO CEO's get indicted for anything? They were friends. And Bush had to let his friend suffer the consequences for his actions. It's a brutally difficult thing for ANYBODY to do --- but Bush did it. -=Mike Umm, that is like saying, under which president did 9/11 happen.

Umm........I guess Nader. Ralph Nader Opposed the Invasion & Presents a Plan for Peace and an End to the U.S. Occupation of Iraq The quagmire of the Iraq war and occupation could have been averted and needs to be ended expeditiously, replacing US forces with a UN peacekeeping force, prompt supervised elections and humanitarian assistance before we sink deeper into this occupation, with more U.S. casualties, huge financial costs, and diminished US security around and from the Islamic world. The faulty and fabricated rationale for war has the US in a quagmire. Already more than $155 billion has been spent, adding to huge Bush deficits, when critical needs are not being met at home. We should not be mired in the occupation of Iraq risking further upheavals when our infrastructure, schools and health care are deteriorating. Four years of free public college and university tuition for all students could be paid for by $155 billion. Opposition to Media Bias and Media Concentration The mass media in the United States is extremely concentrated, and the messages that they send are too broadly uniform. Six global corporations control more than half of all mass media in our country: newspapers, magazines, books, radio and television. Our democracy is being swamped by the confluence of money, politics and concentrated media. We must reclaim our democracy from the accelerating grip of big-money politics and concentrated corporate media. This requires real campaign finance reform, which means public financing of public elections; some free access to ballot qualified candidates on television and radio; vigorous antitrust regulation and enforcement; ending broadcasters' free licensed use of the public airwaves; and the reversion of some organized time on our publicly owned airwaves to establish audience-controlled radio and TV networks to ensure the diversity of voices and solutions necessary for a really free press and a true civic democracy. Restoration and Expansion of Civil Liberties & Constitutional Rights Civil liberties and due process of law are eroding due to the “war on terrorism” and new technology that allows easy invasion of privacy. Americans of Arab descent and Muslim-Americans are feeling the brunt of these dragnet, arbitrary practices. Mr. Nader supports the restoration of civil liberties, repeal of the Patriot Act, and an end to secret detentions, arrests without charges, no access to attorneys and the use of secret “evidence,” military tribunals for civilians, non-combatant status and the shredding of “probable cause” determinations. They represent a perilous diminishment of judicial authority in favor of concentrated power in the executive branch. Sloppy law enforcement, dragnet practices are wasteful and reduce the likelihood of apprehending violent criminals. Mr. Nader seeks to expand civil liberties to include basic human rights in employment and truly equal rights regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or religion Expand Worker's Rights by Developing an Employee Bill of Rights The rights of workers' have been on the decline. It is time to reverse that trend and begin to give worker's – the backbone of the US economy – the rights they deserve. Workers need a living wage – not a minimum wage; access to health care and no unilateral reductions in medical benefits and pensions for current employees and retirees. Employers should not be able to avoid these benefits by hiring “temporary workers” or “independent contractors.” The privacy of employees needs to be vigorously protected. The notorious Taft-Hartley Act that makes it extremely difficult for employees to organize unions needs to be repealed. It has resulted in less than 10% of the private workforce being unionized, the lowest in 60 years and the lowest percentage in the western world. Non-union workers need upgraded rights against the likes of Walmart. A Crackdown on Corporate Crime and Abuse The US needs to crack down on corporate crime, fraud and abuse that have just in the last four years looted and drained trillions of dollars from workers, investors, pension holders and consumers. Among the reforms needed are resources to prosecute and convict the corporate executive crooks and to democratize corporate governance so shareholders have real power; pay back ill-gotten gains; rein in executive pay; and enact corporate sunshine laws, among others. A Family Farm — Consumer Agricultural Policy American agriculture is being dominated by two contrary trends in the 21st Century. First, conventional family farm agricultural production is being destroyed by low prices and lack of market access due to mergers, acquisitions by big agribusinesses and their monopsony power over farmers. Second, there is a boom in more sustainable agricultural production and consumption due to increased consumer awareness and demand for healthy, fresh, and nutritious food. Federal policy must focus on the farm and food system as a continuum that provides many benefits. We must advance the production, marketing, use and disposal of food and fiber in accordance with consumer, environmental, worker and family farm standards of justice and sustainability. Additionally, we must challenge misallocation of resources caused by the growing concentration and wealth by agribusiness, chemical, biotechnology and financial corporations over the food and fiber economy. This entails shifting government policy to provide research and information relevant to independent food producers, organic farmers, insuring open and competitive markets, promoting new food infrastructures, and preventing pollution and degradation of natural resources. Nader is also in favor of ending the War on Drugs.

Okay, Mike. I got a new idea. How about we let the states decide if blacks can marry? And then if a black couple gets married in a state where they let them do that kind of thing, and then wants to move on down to a state where the people said black people can't get married, then they are considered not married anymore. Oh, and only white people should do the decidin' about if black people can marry in each state. Hey, wait a minute, this doesn't sound very fair..... I really feel that the gay marriage issue is something that in due time will be legal, and everyone that hates gays or opposes them being married will magically find it NOT that hard to move on and keep living their own fucking private lives in a manner NO DIFFERENT then before, and they will find a new group of people or issue to take up as "against god" or "immoral" or "against the funadamental fabric of our country" or whatever bullshit they can think of next. This is just an issue that the opposition is going to ride out as long as they can, probably knowing full well that eventually they will lose. Hey --- I feel the same way about abortion. -=Mike Silly MikeSC, Abortion ALREADY IS legal.......

Did you know for a 4 person family, I think it is under 18,000 to be considered poverty. That is silly. I'd say AT LEAST under 30,000 for a four person family is borderline poverty, considering expenses over the children's first 18 years of life.

Umm, so can we conclude this thread with, "Clinton & Bush and Bush Sr. helped out Enron quite a fucking bit" ? All this silly, "who helped Enron make more?" chatter is ridiculous. Last I checked, Bush himself wasn't "punishing" Lay. Lay was caught plain and simple. Last I checked, Bush couldn't even say a single word when asked about Ken Lay's actions, and like we have come to love so much, offered a blank, confused stare at the camera, and then just walked off and ended the press conference......oh I know, they were FRIENDS.....

Well the republicans need their fresh red meat, and this hard-line anti-gay stance, will comfort the religious right whacks, coupled with Laura Bush going out and speaking out against stem cell research, I see the effort there to win over any of the religious base that previously felt dis-infranchised with Bush. As for me, you all already know my stance. I think gays should have full disclosure to get married and every right/privelage that comes with it. However for republicans to come out against even Civil Unions is quite disturbing.

Are we forgetting how Lita/Trish came to blows and Lita rolled down the ring steps and was beat up somewhat. Don't you think this will lead to the dreaded MISCARRIAGE?

it's not Wal-Mart COMING to the town that creates problems, it is when they leave when the city is in shambles. A lot of the local shop owners end up spending away their life savings trying to keep their shops open, but they eventually close down. Then when Wal-Mart doesn't think the town offers them enough profit, they just up and leave, which in turn puts a lot of people out of work, and all the former shop owners have no money to re-open. It is give and take really, but like I have said before in other Wal-Mart related threads, it doesn't effect big or even mid-sized cites like it does a small town that basically depends on THE ONE store in town for it's goods & services.

Duce's importance to Philly was overrated ever since his big game in Dallas which put his name on the map. Westbrook is the starter with or without Duce, so I don't see how just losing Duce spells doom for Philly. Losing Buckhalter hurts them, but you can't blame that on Duce leaving. Westbrook is a nice complimentary RB, but he is too undersized to carry a full load. Should be interesting to see how long he can hold up........

I'm supposed to care about the opinon of a bitter man that has never met or served in or around John Kerry and is manipulated other vets to get their names and pictures for the swift boat for truth ads?
