  1. Link Story about Miguel Cabrera's potential to be the first $200M man in baseball since A-Rod and the second ever. Basically, without a new stadium, there is a 0% chance that he remains with the team past 2009 despite the fact that the front office does not want to get rid of him in any way, shape, or form. He will be 26 when he enters free agency. Bud Selig has stepped in and ramped up the efforts to get the Marlins a new stadium, but I still won't believe it until I see it. It's tough being a fan of such a small market team, especially one with such a terrible local fanbase.
  2. Ugh. We need to keep making posts to get rid of the Granny thong from the newest page. Thanks, Rant. EDIT: Woooo. All it take was one.
  3. Can anyone take this place seriously enough to make it feel like their head is going to explode? And if so, can you maybe find yourself a new hobby?
  4. Did you even see it? He said he didn't DEMAND a trade. He NEVER said he didn't request one. His words were something to the effect of, "If you can't do something to change things around here, then I want out." That's a request.
  5. If anybody thinks one negative feedback is going to get someone kicked off eBay, they are new to eBay. That's unheard of. It takes a heck of a lot more than one negative feedback to lose an account.
  6. I don't know... am I wrong to find that skit as hilarious as I do? Just the motions and dance moves that Samberg and JT do crack me up and the song is catchy as hell. Everyone in my lab and that I've emailed the link too seem to really enjoy it as well. Maybe I'm just crazy but that skit made me laugh as much as anything I can remember in a long time.
  7. I was right. It's the new Lazy Sunday. Hell, I pre-ordered mine. Link

    NFL Week 16

Some of Tony Dungy's staff likes him more than others.
  9. SNL puts out one of "those skits" that blow up with Dick in a Box - the first since Lazy Sunday and we've got no SNL review to show for it? You're slacking.
  10. How long has Inside the UFC been on Spike? It's mostly just fluff but I find it highly entertaining. I had no idea it existed until Thursday.
  11. I'm pretty sure Woody's sister has already passed away. I think he went back to Denver because he missed being a journalist. And for the record, Tim Cowlishaw is one thing that DOESN'T suck about ESPN. That buffet during ATH yesterday had me rolling with laughter, as he usually does.

  13. So Josh Beckett (predictably) regressed after moving from the cavernous pitcher adoring Dolphins Stadium to the bandbox that is Fenway park and you mutants already want to make one of the best young pitchers in baseball into a closer? It's been shown countless times that a great starter is more valuable than a great reliever and maybe Beckett is taking some lumps in the American League but is the 2003 postseason that far behind you that you can't remember that Beckett possesses the capability to be untouchable? If you need a reminder, please find Game 5 of the 2003 NLCS along with games 3 and 6 of the 2003 World Series. And stop whining.
  14. Not quite. It's a sports website. And these people are horse lovers. They're crazy. One of the posts on the message board (no longer on there) called Barbaro the second Christmas miracle and an inspiration to millions and it wasn't a joke.
  15. Man, I wish somebody did. I had no idea there was one tonight.
  16. It's hilarious and never stops cracking me up. I figured I'd let you guys take a look if you don't read Deadspin. Basically, the backstory is that Barbaro has a message board and a lot of people have gotten really carried away with it. Leaving very long messages FOR A HORSE about how inspirational it is and how they are praying for him. The messages are almost always accompanied by Bible verses, etc, and the whole thing is very funny and very sad at the same time. Well, Deadspin pointed it out and now they have a little war going on with the people at the Barbaro message board, who have predictably responded with responses that sounded like they were crafted by 5 year olds. Here's some links if you have 15-20 minutes to kill and want a chuckle... The surreal Barbaro message board Deadspin's take "Let's get one thing straight: right off the bat. It's a FUCKING horse." I'll also use this post as a reminder that if you aren't reading Deadspin on a daily basis, you should be.

Yeah, I got Boston for free off those samplers iTunes was giving away on Facebook all summer. I downloaded the rest of the CD and was mildly disappointed. Boston's good, though. I like a few of the other songs. Bullets comes to mind.
  18. That's an old video. I remember seeing that about a year ago, but hilarious nonetheless. He destroys her.
  19. NYankees has certainly been on fire the past few days. Care to be correct one of these times?
  20. If that was supposed to be serious I'm a million times dumber for having read half of it. And NYankees got pwned into oblivion with the OPS+ debate.
  21. Let's see if Kyle Drabeck can refrain from embarrassing himself or the organization between now and then. I suppose he's been on his best behavior since being drafted, but it's only a matter of time.
  22. I actually really enjoyed the Ali Rap and Ali's Dozen shows. They were highly entertaining, if you can ignore the massive hype.
  23. I've seen only a few this year... 1: The Cribs/Death Cab for Cutie/Franz Ferdinand: Cribs rocked as the opener, Death Cab predictably sucked ass but made all the little girls happy and Franz was probably the best show I've seen in years. They completely rocked and were fantastic live. 2: The Format/Straylight Run/Matt Pond PA: The Format put one an amazing near 2 hour live show. Just awesome. I never heard of Straylight Run before this but they were pretty decent live. I came home to found out that it's what's left of Taking Back Sunday and their CD is pretty emo but they were decent live. 3. The Strokes: They were ok but nothing special That's about it. Not too much in my area this year that I wanted to see.
  24. Eh I was expecting a little more plot advancement then that. Still pretty decent, if mostly a commercial for Toyota. But imagine how Jack felt...
  25. The pink was a nice touch. Man in Blak has a point. I don't post nearly as much about the Marlins as I used to. But it's hard to deny that sometimes I get a little carried away.
