This is a very hard one for me, but I have two films that are nose to nose as my favorite movie of all time. So, I'll mention both: Pulp Fiction-1994's best picture. 90's best picture. Mirimax's best picture. Tarantino's best picture. Yes, its the movie that defines pop culture in the 90s, Pulp Fiction. This movie has it all, and I mean it has it all! Three tales of mischief and mayhem in L.A. All within 48 hours, but not always in chronilogical order. The cast is amazing, consisting of John Travolta, Samuel Jackson, Bruce Willis, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Ving Rhames, Tim Roth, and Quentin Tarantino himself. The dialogue is the best I've heard in film. See this movie, its my favorite movie of all time! But one other movie is sometimes better than and worse than Pulp Fiction. Its just too hard to choose between the two, because this other movie is outstanding!...... Lawrence of Arabia-Yes indeed! It is the 3.5 hour plus adventure epic, that won best picture in 1962. It tells the tale of T.E. Lawrence and his little journey through the Middle East during World War 1. The picture is just too beautiful, and it makes you feel as if you're in the blazing desert with Lawrence, fighting the Turks, and doing a bunch of other stuff. The music is one of the best scores ever created. Great performances by Peter O' Toole, Alec Guiness, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Claude Rains, and Jack Hawkins. I hope one day that I get to see this in a movie theater, because it would be a dream come true. But the DVD is the closest to capturing the magic of this movie in the theater. Go see both movies. They're amazing. Hmmm, $5 to rent these two fabulous films, compared to paying $8 for some new shit that sucks ass! Iwould pick the two greatest movies ever, instead of something I would regret renting. Actually, I think Citizen Kane may be the GREATEST movie of all time, but these two above are my FAVORITE movies of all time. Tell me about yours? Have a nice day! But I'm a comedy person generally (no reason watching all that depressing shit), so generally the Monty Python movies and most Mel Brooks movies end up at the top of my list. godthedog 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2003 i prefer the dialogue in 'raging bull' to 'pulp fiction'. it feels more genuine to me. anyway, favorite movie: 'it's a wonderful life'. once in a great while, i'll see a movie that has one moment that's so perfect it gives me chills. My favorite scene is the part where he is forced to listen to Beethoven's 9th and tries to kill himself. Seven and Fight Club are two very great movies.....but I like Seven a lot more. Let's compare it.....Kevin Spacy..to...Bitch Tits....on MEATLOAF!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!! Seven Samurai is fabulous. I just wish the DVD was cheap enough for people who actually like the movie to buy it. Let's say $20? Come on! Raging Bull is the best boxing movie ever. Rocky ain't got shit on Raging Bull! In fact....Rocky ain't got shit on Network....which should've won best picture 1976! The Searchers is a great...great...great movie. But not my favorite western. What comes before The Searchers is.... The Wild Bunch Once Upon a Time in The West The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly But The Searchers is still one of my 15 favorite movies. That's because my favorite genre is WESTERN. I love everything about that film...the dialogue, the score, the lighting... I personally feel the opening scene is the best, with the camera slowly approaching Alex in the bar. Classssic.
