Guest Retro Rob Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 WESTERLY, R.I. -- Police said Friday that two people found dead inside a Westerly home apparently suffered drug overdoses. The couple's 21-month-old boy and 8-month-old girl were apparently alone in the house with the bodies for several days. The bodies of Anthony Durante, 36, and Dianna Hulsey, 29, were found Thursday lying face up and near each other on the living room floor of a rented house in Misquamicut, police said. News Channel 10's Audrey Laganas reported that an autopsy done Friday showed the victims had needle marks on their bodies. A substance believed to be the painkiller OxyContin was found in the house. The couple moved to Westerly three weeks ago. Police said Durante was born in New Jersey but has family in Westerly. Hulsey has relatives in the Baltimore area. The couple previously lived in Philadelphia. Durante worked at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, where he was last seen on Monday. Hulsey worked at Wal-Mart. It was not clear if they were married, but Westerly police Chief Stephen Baker said they were apparently a couple, and the two children were theirs. Baker told reporters that the boy left a trail of food from room to room, a spilled quart of milk, chicken nuggets and bits of bread -- some or all of which he pulled from the refrigerator. A yellow toy truck sat on the living room floor. The baby was found in the crib. The state Department of Children, Youth and Families took custody of the children, who were not harmed. Laganas reported that Durante was a former professional wrestler and had a criminal history in Pennsylvania and New York. Durante's brother apparently became worried when he hadn't heard from him and sent his stepfather to check the house. The stepfather found the bodies and called 911 from the Linwood Avenue home. "It's obviously a tragedy," Baker said. "It's something you don't come across very often, fortunately. We really have to look into the cause to determine why this happened." The beige ranch house with blue shutters sits on a quiet street in Misquamicut, an area that combines seasonal and year-round rentals. The couple had just rented the house, neighbors said. "It's hard to believe that something like this can happen in your neighborhood," said next-door neighbor Bob Nist. But police said earlier Friday there was no reason to believe there is any danger to the community. "We don't feel that there was any third party involved in this. We're not going to rule it out right at this moment, but I don't feel there is a danger to the community. It's typically been a very safe area there, and I don't think that's changed," Baker said. Nist said he left information about the Lymphoma Society in the couple's mailbox, but never saw the couple, or their children, during the three weeks they were there.
Papacita Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Eh...I liked the Pitbulls back in the day, but not too much to say about this. With all these wrestling related deaths, responses are pretty much getting automatic at this point.
Guest bort Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 sad to see, anyone know the last time he wrestled for an indy or when he quit
Zack Malibu Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Durante lived HERE? Damn, I had no clue, he never worked any RI indies that I knew of. I used to like the Pitbulls during their feud with Douglas and the Triple Threat, but I had heard from various sources that they were drug fiends. The cause of death doesn't surprise me.
Guest bort Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Anthony Durante, who wrestled as one of the Pitbulls in ECW, and more recently competed in Mixed Martial Arts events, was found dead Thursday. A female, Dianna Hulsey, was also found dead in the home they shared in Misquamicut. Two children were found unharmed in the house. Authorities suspect an overdose was the cause of death and both Durante and Hulsey reportedly had needle marks on their bodies. News reports indicate a pain killer (OxyContin) was also found in the house. credit:1wrestling
Guest Jimbo Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Aww man, I feel for the kids...left in the house with two dead parents for days, not knowing what had happened? Do I hear ultra-traumatic expereience? Yeesh...
Guest Memphis Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 How about they start giving out prizes to wrestlers who DON'T die of drug related causes for being unique and different. What a fucking joke that situation is. MeMphis
Steviekick Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I always thought that the Pitbulls were cool, and it saddens me that he died as wrecklessly as he did. I really feel bad for his children, as I'm sure they are going to be scarred for life. I wish I still had my polaroid with the pitbulls.... RIP Anthony Durante..
Youth N Asia Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I heard they were assholes...so I've never been too big into the Pitbulls...the thing about the kids disturb me though.
The Czech Republic Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Durante's brother apparently became worried when he hadn't heard from him and sent his stepfather to check the house. The stepfather found the bodies and called 911 from the Linwood Avenue home, 911 then proceeded to knock the door down, choke-slam the man who called, the baby, and the corpses just for good measure. E-C-Dub!
Ced Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Who was the last wrestling representative to actually die of natural causes? Fred Blassie?
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Yup. Blassie died of Natural Causes (or atleast thats what most people say). I really can't feel sorry about the dudes death (Durante) because of his reputation for drugs and shit, but to prove I'm not cold hearted, thats a terrible way to die especially when you have young kids.
King Cucaracha Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Number Two. Dames The bald one right? Cause Gary Wolfe (the non bald one) still wrestles in 3PW, right?
Guest T®ITEC Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Gary Wolfe's on 3PW's website, so I guess he's okay. http://3pwrestling.com/newsite/roster/roster.htm To conclude: so, so stupid. I hate wrestlers. A whole freakin' lot. It's awful about Durante's children, though. I know that I'd be screwed up for the rest of my life if I were in that situation....
1234-5678 Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 And in his memory I will now watch the fantastic Pitbulls vs. Raven and Stevie 2 out of 3 falls match.
Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 Best ECW Match ever
Papacita Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 I dunno. It was good, but I liked the TV Title 4-way from Heatwave 96 better. That's probably my all-time favorite ECW Match.
Guest Sturgis Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 It's awful about Durante's children, though. I know that I'd be screwed up for the rest of my life if I were in that situation.... Well being that young I doubt they will remember, but just know their parents were fucked up and died.
Guest netslob Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 his last words were "Inka dinka doo".
The Czech Republic Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 his last words were "Inka dinka doo". (spit-take)
PLAGIARISM! Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 Look, I was never interested in the guy as a wrestler, but fucking hell, reading about two young children in the house with his corpse and used needles lying around sends shivers down my spine. That's just awful.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 another wrestler gets hired by the Heavens wrestling federation
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 what a shame......RIP my condolences to the kids
Guest The Masked Avenger Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Rest in peace, Anthony Durante.
