WWE Banning Even More Moves

Recommended Posts

Wow, wrestling is gonna look even more fake now.

Fan: Wooo! Steiner, suplex his ass.

Steiner: But I can't! It might hurt him!

Of course this is just a story. No fan would ever cheer for Scott Steiner.

:D

Yes, in the not so distant future I can see WWE matches consisting of punch, kick, and signature move.

JR: "BAH GAWD, STUNNER! STUNNER!

Lawler: "Look at those furious right hands Angle is throwing!"

JR: "ANGLE SLAM! BAH GAWD, AN ANGLE SLAM! WHAT A SLOBBERKNOCKER!"

Lawler: "Look! Austin hit him with the stunner! STUNNER!"

JR: "More right hands from Austin--OH! HE THREW A KICK IN THERE! BAH GAWD!"

Lawler: "Both men are really digging deep into their repotoire tonight, JR."

JR: "Angle with a--wait, what kind of move is that? Hmm. DDT! ANGLE HIT HIM WITH A DDT! HISTORY IN THE MAKING TONIGHT FOLKS!"

Lawler: "I think that DDT put Austin away-NO WAIT! STUNNER!"

:P

I think that already started with the Angle vs. Lesnar Iron Man match because that's all that sticks out in my mind about the match. Now we'll unfortunately be seeing it even more, and not even Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, or Angle are safe from getting their movesets limited even more.

I've got a question: Does that also mean that future WWE video games will only include a limited number of moves for realism or will they still have a lot like in the Smackdown games?

The way this policy is going, and Vince's nostalgia kick, the new WWE games are going to be re-releases of the old Genesis/SNES titles, but they'll just blur out the WWF logos and give the wrestlers pot-bellies.

First off, I'd piss myself if steiner picked up say Spike Dudley in the suplex position then screamed "Fuck you Vince" and Steiner screwdrivered him.

And secondly, I'm convinced it's supposed to say belly to back suplex. Ya know, the lazy way of saying German. i would assume a German suplex would be banned before an overhead one.

When will people learn that moveset is not the most important thing?

A match does not need flashy high-impact moves or dozens of suplexes to be good. Anyone remember that guy named BRET HART??? or Ric Flair, or Steve Austin, or Owen Hart....

Why?

One, it's not necessary; they've already castrated the move.

Two, I think there's more risk involved in a belly to belly then a german, really. I mean, you'd have to fuck up a german pretty bad to land right on your head, especially the way they're done in the fed these days. With a belly to belly, I can see someone landing on their head much easier.

And also, no, matches don't NEED flashy moves to be good. They also don't NEED to be 20+ minutes. But it helps.

How long until matches are a 5-second resthold followed by a pin?

At this rate of move bannage I think the real question is how long until feuds are settled with an interpretive-dance-off.

JR: "MICHAELS! SETS UP FOR HIS TRADEMARK TRIPLE-LUX!"

Lawler: "But BROCK! BROCK LESNAR COUNTERS WITH A BEAUTIFUL DOUBLE AXLE! HA HA!"

JR: "These men are putting their bodies on the line!"

Ok I realize those are figure skating terms, I'm sorry I don't know any interpretive dance terms. ;)

I'll tell ya what. If Flair doesn't stop wrestling soon, he will break his fucking back from a back body drop and then Vince will go ahead and have to ban that move.

Just wait until an errant right hand breaks someone's nose...

They'll be pinning guys off shoulder blocks after that.

Nice try, but it would have worked better if you used ballet terms. Despite what JR says, at this rate it WILL be ballet.

...would Vince push smaller guys THEN?!

I actually saw someone get pinned by a shoulderblock at a house show.

Touché

Soon even the restholds will be deemed dangerous and one wrestler will just lay down for the other after the first second.

Then someone will get injured doing that and we'll have to resort to interviews only, no more wrestling.

Then someone will get a sore throat from interviews so we'll have Ironman Standoffs where wrestlers stand at each other's corner and look menacing at each other for minutes on end.

Then someone will get a hernia (or hemmheroid) from straining too hard to look menacing, and after that wrestlers will just hang around in back all show while fans watch an empty ring for two hours.

Halfway there

Yup, keep banning everything Vince and Co. Keep banning moves. Keep up with the lame storylines, segments, promo's and McMahon-A-Mania all over TV. Keep slowing down matches and shortening them. Keep pushing the guys who can hardly move.

And when/if TNA gets a TV deal and people see the action there they will really be tuning out WWE. Vince needs TNA to get a TV deal more then he knows.

I think that it IS the lack of competition that makes Vince feel he can pretty much pull off ANYTHING and get away with it. The sooner TNA get a TV deal, then the better it will be ( even for the non-TNA fans ) for all of us !

If the concern is about protecting the necks of the workers, and I can see it due to all the neck injuries that put them out for about a year, then they should ban the Pedigree.

You can do it, Vince, don't be afraid. You have our support.

Brock is young. Wait until he passes 30 and then see the injuries pile up.

I keep thinking that the botched SSP is going to come back and haunt Brock later in his career. He was lucky enough to escape a serious immediate injury, but it had to do some kind of damage. Many more years of bumps and age will wear it down a lot.

Maybe they should just have the wrestlers come out and settle it with rock em sock em robots.

and when one of those robot pieces goes flying off and takes someone's eye out then what... THEN WHAT?!?

As a rookie wrestler, I realize that people like Vince and co who have been in the business for decades naturally know more on the risks of bumping than I do. However, I've taken my share of bumps, and I must say that I'd personally take a belly to belly over a german suplex or back suplex any day. IMHO, these are far more dangerous, so I'm a bit baffled by this...

Thumb war?

Rock Paper Scissors?

Thumb war-Kevin Nash would get his thumb broken in one of the thumb war matches on Raw, then WWE would have to ban it.

Rock, Paper, Scissors-HHH would tear his hand out of place when playing the game, so WWE would ban that too.

So yeah, it'll be just interviews with the way WWE's going right now.

I think they're talking moreso about the overhead belly to belly that Angle, Haas and others have used. The chances of somebody getting hurt on the ones that Steiner uses is much reduced compared to an Angle B2B.
