Guest unleashedfury Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I just got these information from the observer newsletter by Dave Meltzer and it basically says that the plan is for Benoit to win the Smackdown survivor series match with Brock taking the last fall.setting up their first ever WWE title match at the Royal Rumble. WOW...........My long awaited Lesnar vs Benoit feud has finally begun.I bet it would be better than Lesnar vs Angle.
Austin3164life Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Not sure if this actually happens, but it's good news for Benoit if it does. I'm not sure how their feud would play out. Knowing the WWE, it could become a lame-duck feud, because both man lack in the charisma department. I'm sure they'd tear it up in the ring, but I'm not sure how the WWE would write it (or if they would write it how most of us would like it to be).
1234-5678 Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I think it would be a shame for Benoit to retire without ever having held the WWE title.
Steviekick Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Basically this is all going to lead to Benoit getting squashed and Brock will still be the champ. At least we're getting closer to Benoit's title reign.
Zetterberg is God Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I'll believe it when I see it. There's always talk of a Benoit title reign but that's all it is. There's nothing I'd like more than for this to be true but there was also a rumor of Eddie getting the shot and we all saw how that played out.
Guest Fook Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 *starts dreaming of an Eddie/Benoit title match at WM*
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I doubt WWE will give Benoit a title reign, but if they did is already a year too late. Eddy should be getting the World title since he has become the SD mvp.
Guest ligerbomb03 Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I still hope to see Benoit with the heavyweight title. I can always dream, right?
Guest hhheld_down Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 begins to pray for a long beniot wwe title reign...
Guest ftwdevils2469 Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 *starts dreaming of an Eddie/Benoit title match at WM* You're going to be dreaming for a long time.
Aero Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Right now, I see Benoit winning the Rumble match and facing Angle at WM to WIN the title. Afterall, isn't there a rumored Brock-Goldberg interpromotional match? Who else from Smackdown could main event WM?
Kahran Ramsus Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Right now, I see Benoit winning the Rumble match and facing Angle at WM to WIN the title. Afterall, isn't there a rumored Brock-Goldberg interpromotional match? Who else from Smackdown could main event WM? VINCE MCMAHON!
AndrewTS Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Who cares if it happens? The rest of the product is bordering on unwatchable.
Guest Choken One Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I can buy Angle/Benoit at Mania with Heel turned Benoit vs Uber baby face Angle. Not like it will be the real main event
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 <----starting to get ready for the 7 day reign that they will give Benoit. [/sarcasm]
Guest The Old Me Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Ray, please stop jerking off.
ryankeast Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 This feud like already stated would kick ass - in the ring. Not sure how they would write the feud as neither is gold on the mic - and the fans may loose intrest.
Guest Megatron Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Lesnar is boring. Go Benoit. Benoit is more exciting than Lesnar? I've said it before and I'll say it again: Benoit already is a former World Champ. If Vince cared about workrate, Eddie would be in the middle of a 5 year reign right now. And to be honest, I like the Champ to be able to connect with the fans. Benoit just doesn't have "it." I know I'll be flamed for that, but who cares? I sure don't. You guys all rant and rave about how Benoit should be Champ like it's going to get Vince to do anything about it. We are a very small minority of the people who tune in each week. Do you think WWE cares about us? All that matters to them is $. All I spend on WWE is PPV money. And that's just because I'm a completist. I haven't bought a t-shirt or went to a house show since I was a smark way back in '97. Vince doesn't need us. He will never listen to us. He will put the belt on whoever he thinks will be best for business. And I'd have to agree with him on this: Benoit as Champ will NOT draw.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Remember when they were saying this about Eddie?
ryankeast Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 [benoit as Champ will NOT draw] As much as it pains me to say it I have to agree. What a fucking shame that is too.
ryankeast Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 [Remember when they were saying this about Eddie? ] Yes but Eddie has always had charisma, something that Beniot does somewhat lack. If Eddie is still over the way he was a month ago he should be pushed to the Main Event and even get the title - he deserves it.
lomasmoney Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 jaxl, who in the fuck is that guy in the mugshot
Guest Megatron Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 As much as it pains me to say it I have to agree. What a fucking shame that is too. I'm glad someone on here realizes that. And yes, it is a damn shame that it's true.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 At this point I dont really think it matters if he draws... I think they will put it on him for the same reason they put it on Foley the first time around...as a lifetime achievement award dealie.
Guest Megatron Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 At this point I dont really think it matters if he draws... I think they will put it on him for the same reason they put it on Foley the first time around...as a lifetime achievement award dealie. They put it on Foley for one simple fact: HIAC
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Then put it on Benoit for RR 2003.
ryankeast Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 Its too late to give him the Title for a match over 11 months ago. After that standing ovation they should have run with a Beniot feud to the World Title then. I'm not saying don't do a feud with Lesnar or even don't give him the title - I just think he won't draw - which is what Vince only cares about.
ISportsFan Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 (edited) What's with everyone saying that Benoit won't draw? Guess what... nobody is drawing right now. No Mercy got what, 180,000 buys? Unforgiven got slightly higher because the card wasn't main evented by McMahon v. McMahon. Everyone's not drawing. So what's wrong with trying someone new, who despite not getting pushed at all still drew in a ton of new viewers (see the thread from a week or two ago from Meltzer)? If he doesn't draw, then he's in the same boat as everyone else. If he does, then the gamble paid off. Jason EDIT: Oops, forgot a 0 in the buyrate Edited November 4, 2003 by ISportsFan
SamoaRowe Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Can we please stop worrying about whether or not Benoit would draw as a champion and just try to focus on what would be entertaining and worth us giving a damn. Benoit as a champ would draw in smarks from left and right. The marks probably wouldn't mind either. Benoit CAN be marketed as a legitimate main eventer, please go watch Fully Loaded 2000! IT's one of my favorite PPVs of all time because Jericho and Benoit were made to look like stars.
