The Greatest Commercial

Recommended Posts

Any and all "Miller Lite" commercials--the one with the guy shaking his head while watching his neighbor attempt to backup a boat he is towing into his driveway is great. And the one with the blue collar guy supiciously eyeing a Corona with a lime in it, while the narrator talks about the only reason to eat a fruit while drinking beer was to fend off scurvy.

They also had a commercial several years ago (only saw it 1 time) which featured a guy dressed as a giant squirrel and he was doing crazy shit. Don't remember details, but I remember it was damn funny. Never saw it again, I think they pulled the commercial quickly because it was so bizarre.

I liked the Fed Ex commercial with the fast talker.

And the Frogs, the Lizards, and one screwed up Ferret!

The funniest commercial is the one for Mayostard where the people are slaves to getting mustard and mayonaise out of two jars, and then the Mayostard Abe Lincoln bust in with a machine gun and says "Let's get the hell outta here!" Classic.

What the fuck country do you live in that they have Mayostard? Or should I ask which alternate dimension?

Not funniest or greatest but...

Instead of another anti-drug commercial that tries to say you're sponsoring terrorism or will crash into a girl on a bicycle, it just has a Mom telling her kid "you smoked weed, you're grounded" while an announcer calls her "the Enforcer".

Of course the greatest anti-drug commercial ever was...

"Where did you get these drugs, how did you learn this!"

"You Dad! I learned it by watching you!"

my favorite commercials are the michale vick commercial and the commercial from last year's superbowl i believe. it's where the horses foot is right on a line in the snow and it keeps showing that back and forth. then you see a zebra looking into those little monitors they use in the nfl for challenges.

then a farmer goes, ''That referree is a jackass.''

then his friend goes, ''No, i believe that's a zebra.''

everyone in my grandma's house nearly dies of laughter.

1. Definitely the 1984 commercial. And not because I'm a confirmed MacAddict for life... actually, that is the reason.

2. The Joe Isuzu commercials. Classic.

3. The aforementioned "I learned it by watching you". An old friend of mine even put that line into a song.

4. This one Molson commercial (I think) where they show a hockey player undressing after a game. You see the skates and the pads come off, and then you see this hairy pair of legs... only to have the camera pan up to reveal that it's a female hockey player. Good stuff.

5. Speaking of all things Canadian, "My name is Joe... and I am a Canadian." Too bad it never ran in the States.

As for the Honda Accord "Cog" commercial, it actually took 606 takes to get it right. It was all done without CGI. Amazing.

Oh god don't get me started on that horrible enforcer ad. The kid can't even talk. "Mom come on" sounds more like "Mah come ouiuin". And then there's the part where he's playing a gameboy and she grabs it "When I say NO WEED I mean NO WEED". Damn mario and his pipe habbit. I think that whole ad ranks in my top 5 worst anti-drug ads ever, and that's saying something.

Yeah, the commercial didn't show that the kid kicked his drug habit, just that he didn't want to get grounded.

Best: The Charlie/Martin Sheen Visa Check Commercial, the Red Bull Commercial where the bird poops on the guy, and the one Jack N The Box commercial where the wife asks Jack if he wants her to be happy.

It's not real, that was a parody commercial from Mr. Show. I was going to talk about the gay beer commercial from SNL but I thought the less people to pick up on it being fake, the funnier.

A real funny commercial, however, is a PSA about drinking responsibly which features a girl about 9 years old talking about getting wasted and making out with a bunch of guys at some party. It closes with "So why is it such a great story when you tell it?"

For some reason, the new Jack In the Box commercial for their chicken strips when Jack's like "big, juicy breasts...real breasts..." just cracks me up.

Budweiser commercials crack me up. And the "real men" commercials for Coors Light crack me up, too, probably because of the song format more than anything else.

The Coors Light commercials reek of "Hands Across America" which is why I love them so much. The way the dude makes his voice go off the charts in the second commercial is badass.

"Mr. Fake Toupe (sp?) WEARAH!"

The Nissan Maxima commercial from Super Bowl XXXII where the pigeons chase after the car, rapid-firing shit at it while "Highway to the Danger Zone" plays in the background was the funniest one that came to mind.

Absolutely one of the best ever. :headbang:

Another great one is the EDS commercial where they are herding cats across the plains. It's brilliant.

AT&T have put out the most consistently good commercials of anyone. Particularly good are the one where the white styrofoam ball is bombarded by blue tacks to form the AT&T logo, and the one with blue Lego.

The new Adidas (I think) commercial with T-Mac is awesome, where he says (paraphrased) "a lot of people are worried about all these kids coming into the league without an education. Don't worry, I'll be taking them to school all season long".

There are these cell phone commercials that feature the worst acting EVER, bad enough to make them so bad they're good. They have this couple taking pictures of themselves in various stages of undress and sending them over the phone. Then, the guy accidently dials his mom, then looks in the camera and gives the cheesiest reaction ever. I love it.

Robert Loggia for orange juice.

There's this little kid at a breakfast table and his parents can't get him to drink his orange juice.

"Ok, little Billy, if you don't believe that drinking your orange juice is good for you who would you believe?"

"I don't know Robert Loggia?"

Robert Loggia then walks into the kitchen and shoves the glass of juice in Billy's hand.

"Drink your juice, Billy. It's good."

"Wow! It's Robert Loggia! Thanks Mr. Loggia!"

That is the most ingenius things humans have ever created.

Oh man, someone else remembers that commercial. I was starting to think I was just imagining it, because I didn't think something that awesome could've actually existed. Greatest commercial ever.

Gopher Cakes and the Snickers commercial where the guy paints Chefs instead of Chiefs in the endzone were also really good.

The VH1 commercial with the animated cat dressed up like Boy George, singing Karma Chameleon. The first time I saw that, I was in hysterics. I mean, it just came out of nowhere.

The Bud Lught Institute ads for fake greeting cards for guys are great. Really, what guy wouldn't need cards for things like, "I'm Sorry I Missed Your Best Friends Wedding," "I'm Sorry For That Thing That Made You Mad," and "Let's Make February 15th OUR Valentine's Day?"

The Bud ad with the football-playing horses is also a classic.

The new Bud ad has me dying every time. The one with the football player being interviewed after the game.

"There's no I in team"

"Yeah, well there ain't no we either."

That and the anti-pot ad where the girl gets pregnant because she smoked weed was the funniest ad from last year's Super Bowl.

For some reason the Snickers commercial with the football player who gets knocked unconscious cracks me up every time. "I'm batman!"

LOL!! I loved that ad. That one and the old guy painting the wrong word in the end zone.

"Hey, that's great...but who are the Chefs?"

"Great googly-moogly..."

I can't remember what it was a commercial for, but it was a Superbowl commercial that had 2 guys sitting next to a dancing monkey for a few seconds and a voiceover guy said 'We just waisted *large amount of money*, what will you do with YOUR money?'

The Game Gear commercial where the guy playing original Game Boy brains himself with a dead squirrel.

Squirrels seem to be a recurring theme here. There are like three or four other squirrel-related commercials mentioned in this thread. I'm actually a little scared.

Another great one is a Burger King commercial where a bunch of kids are playing b-ball and all of a sudden Shaq comes out of nowhere dressed like Shaft and dunks the ball, with a bunch of chicks singing "who's the man that can jam over any man? Shaq!".

Mountain Dew commercial with the headbutts

Cindy Crawford with the Pepsi.

All Japanese commercials are on a different level though. Love them, love them, love them, love them. Someone needs to make a compilation tape of the best of Japanese commercials yesterday.

Robert Loggia for orange juice.

CLASSIC. Easily one of my favorite commercials ever.

The other, I forget what it's for, but a guy asks someone else "Were you raised by wolves?" and he answers with "Yeah", I believe that's how it goes. Then after he answers, it shows a flashback of him as a grown man nursing on a wolf teet with a whole pack of them. It's quite possibly the greatest thing ever

Best part about that commercial - when he's nursing on the teet, check out the wolf pup feeding right in front of him. That cute lil' bugger is going to TOWN. Absolutely adorable.

Of course the greatest anti-drug commercial ever was...

"Where did you get these drugs, how did you learn this!"

"You Dad! I learned it by watching you!"

Maybe one of the greatest commercials EVER.

I also have a commercial for the Mario Brothers game, where Luigi keeps yelling "Maaaaario where aaaare you!".. it's hilariously cheesey.

I'm a fan of the new GameBoy Advance commercial for Super Mario Advance 4 (Super Mario 3). Cool commercial, good music to go along with it. You can see it here.

Oh.....and personally, one of my favorite commercials as a kid was a local commercial here in D.C. for Jhoon Rhee Karate. It had two little Asian kids with thick accents extolling the virtues of knowing karate for self-defense.

Asian girl: "Nobody bodda me!"

Asian boy: "Nobody bodda me eidda!"
