Ric Flair DVD

Recommended Posts

Not a big deal to me, but others seemed cocnerned in other threads (and this may have been asked/answered elsewhere), but does the Rumble begin with Flair or at #1?

#3

This is so dumb. They can't afford to take the extra 5 minutes to have Finkel's intro and Tunney's intro and the first two guys in the ring (DiBiase and Bulldog)? That blows my mind.

Edit: And yeah, I am a huge DiBiase mark or something

Jason

Dude, it's ALL complete on the dvd. Tunney's speech all the way up to the beginning of the Justice/Hogan confrontation.

EDIT: Bruiser's got it.

Do they show the Post match promo?

Or the "I'll draw #3!" promo on the Funeral Parlor?

I was indeed asking if they showed it from the beginning, and not what Flair's number was (having seen said Rumble more than any other Rumble, I'm well aware it's 3), but I figured my question was being answered properly by saying "#3".

DiBiase is awesome, but as long as it shows Flair entering and Hennan going nuts, that's fine. I have the match on Master anyway, I just like the fact I can watch it, in DVD, no tracking error from a dated tape, quality by clicking a button as opposed to setting the tape up in the right spot (assuming I'm not watching New Foundation vs Express and Piper vs Mountie... LOD vs Disasters may be watched the next time the tape ends up in rotation.. which just ended, so back to WrestleMania 1.. but Bushwahckers vs Beverly's is always FF'd through.)

Edit: It seems while I took my sweet time to type this, it was confirmed Andrew goofed and everything is there. Hooray!

Anyone else realise that the DVD was right in the top 10 at FYE for DVD's if I'm not mistaken? That could be a good sign for other DVD's.

I don't think I overreacted. I saw...

#3

...and had no reason to believe that this wasn't the answer to the question. Am I glad that the whole thing is on there? Heck yeah. But I didn't overreact since this was the only answer I had to go on at the time.

And no offense to AndrewTS, who only answered what he thought he read.

I believe both the post-match interview and Funeral Parlor segment is included.

but Bushwahckers vs Beverly's is always FF'd through.

It's an awful match, but let it play through next time, as Heenan and Gorilla really shine (more so than usual) on that match. They always turned it up a notch when the match was awful.

The Best I usually go to has about 7 shelfs of Wrestling DVD's from WWE, XPW, ECW and Japan stuff.

They treat it nicely too...The WWE PPVS are in CHRONOLOGICAL order unlike other places who just stick them up there...

Suncoast has been the most organized store I have seen when it comes to wrestling dvds. A whole shelf of misc dvds from everything from WWE, indies, FMW, PRIDE FC, UFC all seperated with name dividers. Take a step to the left its misc sports and to the right its soft porn and on the other side kung fu and anime.

My one regret with FF'ing through matches, especially from the Ventura orHennan eras, is that I could possibly be missing some grade A commentary. It's been a loooong time since I've watched that match in full, but I'll be sure to give it a listen next time.

It's a damn shame there is a mute buttong but not a button that turns the video off but keeps the audio...

Something I'm wondering about recent WWE DVD releases.

In both "Hulk Still Rules" and "The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection", they have matches in there that happened on TV, and had commercial breaks during them.

Why though, do they NOT show footage of what happened DURING the commercial breaks for the DVD releases of these matches? To me, that just doesn't make any sense.

I would certainly hope that if the Angle DVD has the Ironman match on it, it would be restored without commercials. Frankly, as much as I love Angle, that would probably be the one thing to get me to buy the DVD (or some other really good TV matches). I'm sure the Angle DVD will be great for folks who are actually wise with their money, but for those who blow it to own every PPV, there isn't much besides awesome TV matches that can be put on it to make me buy it.

My bad--I misread and thought the number Flair entered at was being asked. Ack.

And I'd probably get an Angle DVD--but I would pass on the Iron Man match. It's just not very good.

Off hand, I can't think of any really good Angle matches that haven't already been released on DVD. With a Flair, or a Rey, or a Jericho, or a Shawn, they have lots to use from WCW or older WWF that happened during the $45 Coliseum tape era, and therefore I don't own. All of Angle's PPV work I already have on tape, and off the top of my head I can't think of any really good stuff from TV. Cena's debut vs. Angle is on BTWS 2, vs. Rey and vs Rey vs. Benoit is on the Rey DVD. Maybe Rey/Edge vs Angle/Benoit 2/3 falls would be good.

Discussing what matches that aren't already available on DVD (or, again, for those who are wise with money and won't buy something crappy like Backlash 2002 just for Angle vs Edge) would be a good idea for another thread, as this is about Flair.

Can anyone who also has the Flair DVD check something for me?

In the "Special Night in Greenville" chapter, one of the extras listed is "The Final Nitro". I selected it and got a segment on Flair's WOO instead.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I picked up the Flair DVD for $26.99 today at FYE. What's this "$5 rebate" you guys are talking about? Someone help me.:)

Anyway, WOW...watched the RR 92 part...everything is here! Heenan is GOLD in the Prime Time Wrestling spots, making fun of production...introducing Flair...the Funeral Parlor...Piper's Chairshot to Vince~! They even take the distortion of the World Title.

Flair's explanation of leaving WCW is great, this chapter is just...WHOOO!!!!!

The RR match is gold, just as I remembered. I always respected Flair, but Hulk cheating and having (at the time, my fav) Sid eliminated made me "hate" Flair even more. Great stuff.

On to Disc 2...

One more thing though...the "Special Surprise" after the HHH/Flair match is INCREDIBLE. Flair in tears and all the boys celebrating with beers...just cool. Question: Where were RVD and Kane during this celebration? Even Stevie and Jamal are there.

WHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dames, my Final Nitro (Flair goes off on the WWF, challenges Sting) works fine. Sorry, bro.

Mine worked fine. It had his complete promo, including the challenge to Sting.

Picked it up at FYE (Best Buy had nothing). I've gone through most of the non-matches (I've already seen the vast majority and, being sick, I don't have the attention span for a 45-minute match).

Flair's intro at Starrcade 83 was pimpin...or laughable if you want to compare it to what we would get today. Dusty Rhodes rules the microphone. I was a little upset they didn't include Sting's knee injury from the Clash where he was kicked out of the Horsemen but it's a minor problem.

I gotta say...for my money, it doesn't get better than Flair when it comes to tying me into a match / promo. In the handful of segments when he starts tearing up (and maybe it's just my Robitussin acting up), I'm pretty much right there with him.

Two questions though - for the PWI Wrestler of the Decade segment, was that at Starrcade 89 and just cut out of the home video?

And finally, can anyone name the guys that fill up the ring after Flair's win over Race (aside from the obvious Ricky Steamboat and Angelo Mosca?). I think Whipper Billy Watson is there but not sure about the rest.

Can someone give me the date it comes out in Canada?

Thanks.

what does regional have to do with it

Weak Canadian dollar?

Canadian dollar's going way up, it's been increasing almost a cent per day. They don't seem to talk about it much on the news, though.

It's an easter egg on mine. If I hit left 2 times, I get that segment. Hope it helps a bit.

Well, this is the funny thing. When I click on "The Final Nitro" on my computer DVD player, I get the WOO segment.

When I play it in my living room, it works fine.

Thank you for your help guys.

I've shown (and watched) the RR92 match twice completely now...and with one who had and one who hadn't seen it before. They loved it.

A really cool piece on "A Day in the Life of the Horsemen". Tully and Arn talk about trainin for 4 hours, flying to an arena, wrestling, flying to Vegas, partying....4 hours sleep...4 hours of Vegas...repeat. And how they'd hit up Chi-Town and drink all night for free out of the limo.

Kayfabed or not, Tully's commentary kicked ass.

"Here comes the Barbarian! He doesn't like Flair!"

"He doesn't like anybody...when I managed him, he barely liked me. Why do you think he's called The Barbarian? He's not a hair-dresser on the weekend."
