cawthon777 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2003 Obtained this little bit of info from a contributer to my website. It's from last night's show in Tacoma. Match 2 -- Mark Henry vs Tommy Dreamer Dreamer came out with a 'guest manager' who held his cane, and I guess rooted him on. Theodore Long's promo was totally bland. I gave Mark the Nation of Domination sign but he didnt look at me. Dreamer went to the knees early. Henry went on the attack with his usual boring stuff. Dreamer kicked out of his front slam that he wins a lot with. He won with a splash, even though Dreamer kicked out, Charles Robinson said ring the bell anyways. Dreamer kicks out of the powerslam ... then kicks out of a splash ... wtf?

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I'm thinking Dreamer decides that since no-one gives a shit about Heat, let alone house shows, why not have a laugh by kicking out of finishers. It's like Al Snow and the J.O.B. Squad - Snow said in the shoot interview that the jobbers have the power, because at anytime they could make someone like Undertaker look worthless by kicking out of the Tombstone. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 ... I missed that? I MISSED THAT? Damn. Show still probably wasn't worth getting a ride to Tacoma and paying $40, though. Oh, and I give Tommy another month before WWE cans him and probably Rhyno just for good measure.

Oh, and I give Tommy another month before WWE cans him and probably Rhyno just for good measure. I've missed the boat entirely on the Rhyno situation. Why is he so in the dog house? He had a match with Tajiri that was so bad, apparently, that Vince just walked out to the ring in the middle of the match, told them both to stop and hit the showers because he thought the match sucked. He placed the blame sqaurely on Rhyno's shoulders, and he has been in the dog house ever since.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I honestly can't think of a good reason other than "He was big in ECW.", and that's only good if you remember Vince's mindset. Of course, maybe the ten minute headlock spot in that match with Benoit might have something to do with it.

See, now I'm a bit confused, as I've heard conflicting reports about that match - some say it was just an awful match, others that the match was done that way on purpose to facilitate Vince coming out (basically, it was a work). Whatever the cause, goddamn the guy is in the shits now. Poor SOB has to job hard to Scotty 2 Hotty on Velocity.

I've heard both too. What is certain is that the match did blow - lots of restholds (probably headlocks abound), which there is no excuse for. If it was a work then it nullifies the 'Rhyno was buried for this incident' rumor. If he jobbed to the Worm then I'll worry.... Did he? Yes.

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 If this whole deal was legit and not just a rib, and Dreamer winds up shitcanned, you KNOW that TNA'll take him in a nanosecond, just so he and Raven can do their thing one more time. With Tommy as a heel this time around (Nashville loves Raven) they could work in their past and have a killer feud, IMO.

Highland 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 I could see Dreamer getting tired of being a jobber, but I had thought that he was widely liked and respected backstage, so I don't see why he would legitimately try to make his opponent look stupid by kicking out of finishers when he wasn't supposed to. Cause the opponent was Mark Henry who has all the talent of a tidy bowl circle. Plus, it's a house show and some odd stuff has been done at house shows before. Guest CronoT Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Mark Henry has no business going over Tommy Dreamer. Also, Tommy Dreamer has been type-cast, due to his years at ECW. Vince has always been a one trick pony, and after the Hardcore Division went down the crapper, he doesn't know what to do with Dreamer. Here's an idea: Since Tommy dreamer is a Hardcore "Legend," maybe Dreamer should interfere with the Orton/RVD match, saying he's tired of being ignored. Then, Orton can say that he'll be happy to kill the legend of The Innovator of Violence. Then, Dreamer will have a match with him at the next RAW/combined PPV. Dreamer gets intentionally DQ'ed by pulling out the Kendo stick, and beating Orton senseless; payback for the Evolution announcement where they anally violated him. So ends the "Legend of the Legend Killer."
Guest Goodear Report post Posted November 24, 2003 Mark Henry has no business going over Tommy Dreamer. WHAAAAAA? Look, I know people like Tommy and all, but he's a jobber now and should be considering his back could give out at any time. He was never anything more than a competant worker from what I've seen. Also, Tommy Dreamer has been type-cast, due to his years at ECW. Vince has always been a one trick pony, and after the Hardcore Division went down the crapper, he doesn't know what to do with Dreamer. Sure he does. He knows to job the guy with very little upside and a huge risk of injury. This is Tommy Dreamer we're talking about here, not freaking Jushin Lyger.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 You know what's really fucked up? For a long time they do nothing with Dreamer and then they finally end the 24/7 hardcore rule and give the belt to Dreamer. They could have built a very good Hardcore divison around him but, instead a few weeks later they get rid of the belt and Dreamer has been dead in the water since. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Mark Henry has no business going over Tommy Dreamer. Well, for what it's worth, they have the same number of classic, five-star matches. Namely, none. Also, Tommy Dreamer has been type-cast, due to his years at ECW. Vince has always been a one trick pony, and after the Hardcore Division went down the crapper, he doesn't know what to do with Dreamer. Dreamer's been typecast due to his deficiencies as a worker. He is a good wrestling mind and one heck of a nice guy (apparently) --- but in terms of ring work, he is crap. I can respect him as a guy who loves the industry all day long --- doesn't make him remotely close to being good in the ring. Add into that his numerous injuries and you have a guy I would be REAL hesitant to push. Because, and this is a sad truth, nobody on the face of the Earth actually wants to see that match. Dreamer gets intentionally DQ'ed by pulling out the Kendo stick, and beating Orton senseless; payback for the Evolution announcement where they anally violated him. So ends the "Legend of the Legend Killer." So, bury a young talent with some upside for a guy whose past his prime and has no upside whatsoever? -=Mike
