Sass Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 The Education folder would be created for the posters who have school-related topics they'd like to share (asking for help, discussing topics, etc.) If "yes" wins then the Column Corner folder becomes the Ed. folder. If "no" wins then nothing happens and the CC folder remains the same. The poll will be open for a week. After that, whichever answer has the most votes wins. Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
The Czech Republic Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Naturally, I favor the switch to Education. I'm a senior in high school, and I have four more years ahead of me. I'm sure there are other people at the board who can help each other and would welcome help from others with school. I think a scholarly discussion folder could be very beneficial to people whom it directly concerns, and indirectly be an asset to those out of school who just want to partake in the discussion. If anything, it's just a place separate from GC and Comic Books to discuss books and such. However, I feel that old Column Corner/Smark Crew/Rant Crew posts should be saved in the transition, in the event that people want to look up articles they wrote. I'd hate to have written a great tape review in CC and lost it to eternity from the switch to Education when I felt like looking it up to read. I suppose future Rant Crew-style posts could be consolidated with General Wrestling, Fantasy Booking, or WP&L. I just think an Education folder should be given a chance.
Hank Kingsley Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I voted yes. And Czech, the columns would stay there. As long as just the name of the folder is changed, the older posts aren't lost.
CanadianChris Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Yes all the way. Maybe I can put my near-degree in Education to good use.
EL DANDY~! Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Awesome AWESOME idea here. I totally love this...
Spaceman Spiff Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Lerning good. Me vote yes. Be good 4 teh bord.
The Czech Republic Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Well now that the vote is at 17-1, let's try to think of a good name for the folder. Education would work, but there could be a more interesting name. Ideas?
The Amazing Rando Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Dr. Smartlove: Or How I Learned.
Guest ABOBO Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 ABOBO SAY WE CALL IT "THE PROJECTS."
The Czech Republic Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 The prospective Education folder is such a big deal that it brough ABOBO out of retirement. Maybe Sylvan Grenier needs "remplir le boite du vote." Or not.
El Gigante Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I give it a yes. Its always good to help others out.
ISportsFan Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I voted yes, mainly because there are tons of smart people here (albeit some might lack common sense, but they're still smart), and "academic" websites usually take 24 hours to help. We have enough people here to help that it might be very helpful to people. Jason
HarleyQuinn Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I voted yes since it couldn't hurt at all. Also it'd be nice if I needed a quick answer to a Q that I didn't feel like having to search all over for answered instantly.
Slovakia Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I voted no. I'm evil. Muah hahahahahahaha
Nevermortal Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Name suggestions: "La Academia", "Attempts at Knowledge", "Brain Booth"
The Czech Republic Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 (edited) I'd like to remind voters to please add a comment regarding your choice in the thread, it would be greatly appreciated in getting verbal feedback from the community to supplement the numbers. Things to consider before voting: 1. This folder would draw from school topics in General Chat and book topics in CB&L, as well as material in Current Events, with the general intent of providing a means of helping each other with assignments, essays, required reading, and the like. It will be a niche folder designed for TSM posters of high school and college age. It is not expected to be as high-traffic as other folders. 2. If the reformat passes, Column Corner posts will not be lost. They will remain in the folder and should be able to be looked up with the search feature, so if you wrote a good article and want to read it, it will be available. If your fear is losing your archived posts, don't worry. 3. To improve the atmosphere, coffee will be served and jazz will be played. Edited December 6, 2003 by The Czech Republic
kkktookmybabyaway Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 What a great idea. I can't wait for all the posters that will fail their classes based on what I tell them. And while we're on the subject, thanks for taking me up on my research paper offer, Czech ...
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Everyone who's been in Site Feedback knows my answer. I started the "lets lose Column Corner" thing, and Czech added in the idea of turning inot something for school/education purposes.
PLAGIARISM! Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Meh, voted no. Don't see that it's necessary myself, and I know what's right for everyone else.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Get Your Learn On ain't half bad. I also support "Academic Enema" and "Cheat On Your Term Papers."
Nevermortal Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 How about: "You won't have to blow your teacher to pass the course anymore; ASK THE SMART MARKS! (Disclaimer: You may still have to blow your teacher.)
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 How about: "You won't have to blow your teacher to pass the course anymore; ASK THE SMART MARKS! (Disclaimer: You may still have to blow your teacher.) GOLD sez I.
The Amazing Rando Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I still say: "Mensa For Dummies" or "Dr. Smartlove: Or How I Learned" ... (to stop worrying and ask the smarks)
A Happy Medium Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 A Kubrick influenced folder subtitle sounds badass. Great idea, says I.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 I voted no. You'll all wind up working in a gas station.
