razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Quick question: Which character is voiced by Phil Lamarr (formerly of MAD TV)? I played softball with him this weekend, so now I'm curious. Thanks. Phil is also Samurai Jack.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Tower of Babel? Do we really need another storyline where Batman seems to the be the only Leaguer who can stop that week's villain? He's so infalliable it's annoying.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Batman is the main star, might as well consider JLA as a sequel to Batman TAS.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Shame.
Guest NCJ Report post Posted December 8, 2003 I disagree. There has actually been a few episodes where there is no Batman whatsoever. Batman gets put over because he is the only one without any powers and he is just smarter and slicker than the rest of them because of it.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Using Anime logic it is a sequel or a spinoff in my opinion. JLA is one of the best animated shows of its type from cable tv. My opinion is that it feels and looks alot like the Batman TAS series and it even has some characters crossover, if you will. There has been several episodes that featured the supporting cast, such as the one about Martian Manhunter or the Green Latern Corps or the WWII one featuring Wonder Woman and Superman in the future. It is a team concept show but Batman always stands out as the main eventer.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Best JL episode yet, IMO. Hamill fucking OWNED as Joker in the last episode, as per usual. I loved the "because I'm already insane" line. Phil LaMarr is a great voice actor too, and he does a ton of other stuff- Futurama, Static Shock, Samurai Jack, Family Guy, and Metal Gear Solid 2 just to name a few. Oh, and is the guy playing the Flash the same guy who plays Lex Luthor on Smallville? He's pretty good also. Btw, I haven't read that many JL comics, so I was wondering what the Tower of Babel and Star Crossed story arcs are about, in a non-spoiler way. I'm pretty confident the Star Crossed story is about the GL-Hawkgirl relationship, but I'm not sure.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2003 Starcrossed is not based on any comic storyline to my knowledge, but rumor has it (HUGE SPOILER AHEAD) Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Hawkman comes to Earth from Thanagar...as an invader. And he knows how to beat the Justice League because he's had a spy in their ranks all along...Hawkgirl. . In Tower of Babel. Ra's and Talia break into the Bat-Computer and steal the files Batman keeps on the League in case he needs to take them down, and they precede to use them against the League. Batman leaves after they clear things up.
Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2003 I'll agree that Flash is pretty useless in the show. Although it was impossibly cool seeing him running with the bomb in slow-mo as it was just detonating. I still think it'd be better if Kyle Rayner were there to play off of. Anyone else notice him at Supes' funeral? Lobo is God, btw.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2003 The show has really come into its own this season, standing it apart from season one, which was largely hit or miss. The last few episodes of this season, though, have been very strong, but to say it's better than Batman: TAS is just crazy talk - the show's good, but nowhere near THAT good. Personally, though, I would think "Babel" would be a better season finale - Bats leaving the League would be a good cliffhanger. Oh, and APO is right - the Diana / Bruce love affair is right THERE, just waiting to happen.

They also mentioned him in the JLA ep with the GL Corps. The female GL said she was trying that rookie Rayner. Or something like that.

Guest Ronixis Report post Posted December 9, 2003 JLA First Season...Bad. JLA Second Season, GOOD, but not Batman TAS greatness (The Amptosphere is way off, the music is not up the par, and Kevin Alteri is not writing JLA) Brotha got back! Oh, its so going Project A-Ko, When Bats will betray JL...you know Diana is going for the Supes. (If you never watched the anime- the ending of one of the OVA's showed Diana washing Supes suit...) Teen Titans...sucks...badly. I am sorry, but make it like JL or make it an Anime period. Dont mix it up and make it some bastard child of a overdose of weed. Only Robin's voice does it for me. So who is B-Ko and C-Ko? Its been so long since I seen the series, but...I know B-Ko was A-Ko's rival. C-Ko was a alien sent to earth to invade it, but she forgot her mission, and the Poor Alien Bastards had to deal with A-Ko, B-Ko, C-Ko and about a million or so battle ships. (Perhaps from GL Corps? or those guys that make sure that Earth is never attacked that deals with Darkside all the time) The series was pretty much a spoof, they never HAD tranlated the TV series as I know of yet, but the OVA's are good for buying... Since they are taking cues from Anime, why dont we have a BB like series baced on this? It would be fun...
Guest belgarion Report post Posted December 11, 2003 LOVED last night's episode. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): OMG @ Hawkgirl not only unmasking but finally kissing Green Lantern. I found it great when Harley nailed BATS, I wasn't expecting that. Also the trend with Harley getting her ass kicked by Joker continues *sigh*. Sort of hoping Harley would nail J but oh well. I totally dug Ace's character the most though I also liked the motivation behind the black guy(King?) wanting to show that he was stronger then Superman and not caring at all about the bomb. Also loved the slow-mo of Flash getting rid of the bomb. Can ya tell I loved this episode? Heh... I agree with every single word. They only make like 6 or 8 a year and they spread them out pretty good, so you do get plenty of chances to catch up. I never watch cartoons anymore unles it's Spongebob, Scooby, or Dora The Explorer, I have a three year old. My wife actually watched most of the episode last night but she doesn't like my little girl watching although she does anyway, it's not "girlie" enough. My child won't grow up without knowing who Batman and Superman are, I don't care if she is a girl or not. yeah today i was watching justice league and all my nephew knew were batman and superman he didn't know any others and i was like man that 's bad
JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2003 I'll go out on a limb as to say that this is the best current television show right now IMO. It helps, though, that I don't read spoilers, as there's been lots of great surprises for comic fans. I can't think of one episode I really hated this season thus far (the one centered around the "Just-us League" was my least favorite though) The people behind WB's live action department can think up as many "edgy" changes as they can to piss on the fan, er, update Superman. But as always, they could only wish to adapt DC characters as well as WB Animation.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2003 Teen Titans...sucks...badly. I am sorry, but make it like JL or make it an Anime period. Dont mix it up and make it some bastard child of a overdose of weed. Only Robin's voice does it for me. I don't think that Teen Titans is actually that bad. The animation is kinda subpar and the constant use of the annoyinly catchy theme song is a problem, but it still is an enjoyable cartoon. It's definitely the worst of the DC cartoons, but still is entertaining.
