5_moves_of_doom 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 I finally got the new Beck and find it decent or above decent. Starts and ends well but the middle is sort of just good background music with one or two exceptions. Can anyone tell me if there is anything worthwhile in Can's discography aside from the first five albums? Or anything worthwhile in Faust's aside from the fourth album? I want more Krautrock, dammit. DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 "New Miserable Experience" by the Gin Blossoms I looked for that album but couldn't find it, so I settled with the Masters Collection. It was £14 in my local shop for the new remastered copy. Got it for £3 on eBay instead. Great album

ArkhamGlobe 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Or anything worthwhile in Faust's aside from the fourth album? I, unfortunately, haven't heard that much from them outside of Faust IV, but what I've heard from the first two albums has been really solid or better ("It's a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl" from Faust So Far in particular). I believe there's a disc with both the first albums on it out, that might be worth looking out for (I'm looking to order it myself when I get more money). Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 11, 2005 There's nothing cooler than old Slayer album covers. Last night at work, some jam band listening-to kid gave me a cd by a group called Garaj Mahal. I listened to some of it on the way home. The first track introduced all the instruments to the listener, which was some decent different stuff, really. Sitar, jazz guitar, drums & a menagerie of more hand drums, keyboard, bass. So it wasn't a jam-rock Grateful Dead or Phish kinda outfit. Anyway, I was listening and figuring it wasn't so bad. Some good breakdowns and actual off-timed dissonant shit, which surprised me. Then after about 15 minutes of my ride home, I saw the track switch to 2, which started out exactly like the first track, and I lost interest.

5_moves_of_doom 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 Can someone just do my dirty work for me and write me out a list of everything Mike Patton has ever been involved in that's good-great? I've got his first two Faith No More albums, and a Fantomas album. I'm going to get the new Fantomas tomorrow, and I was interested in this album that he was involved in that I saw a few days ago with jellyfish on the cover, but I forget what it's called. FAKE EDIT: This might not be the right thread for this, but I figure Brunzell will spot the post or something and help me out.

Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Good news: Adrian Belew album is good stuff. Bad news: ...but not enough to justify the $19 I had to shell out for under 30 minutes of good stuff. Stupid Tower Records.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Can someone just do my dirty work for me and write me out a list of everything Mike Patton has ever been involved in that's good-great? Well, like was stated, California by Mr. Bungle is fantastic, and Disco Volante is really good as well. that Lovage album is choice too. Good work, AoO. I really enjoy Faith No More's King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime. It's the most expiremental album, I think, and it's all over the place too. Some songs are straight-up rock-types, like "Get Out" and "Digging the Grave", there's the ballady "Take this Bottle", the dreary, funk-influenced "Evidence" and the downright fucking WEIRD "Coocoo for Caca" and "Ugly in the Morning." The album really proves the point of my sig. The first Fantomas album is quite enjoyable, though it's really only an album you're going to get if you're a Patton dork like myself. The thing I love about Fantomas is that Mike uses his voice as another instrument rather than just singing. Delirium Cordia was disappointing, though not bad by any means. The first 10 minutes or so of the album (it's one 74 minute long song) are great, then it gets kind of boring for the next half hour. I've also heard good things, though I don't own it yet due to the record stores (ie. sam Goody and Circuit City) here in The Valley SUCKING BALLS, about the Patton/X-Ecutioners project. And this goes out to Canadian Chick: The No Fun EP is indeed fun. "President Forever" and "No Fun" are great, and the Ramones cover ain't bad either. Of course, I don't think one can ever go wrong with Local H.

Guest macheteofodin Report post Posted April 20, 2005 3 Inches of Blood - Advance and Vanquish I really don't know what to think about this band. I'm not sure if it's a joke band or if they are serious, but it's really fun to listen to. Really cheesy, but in a good way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies Grindcore, how I love thee. Good shit from a great band. Such diverse stuff on this album.

Guest macheteofodin Report post Posted April 21, 2005 The Mighty Nimbus - S/T GREAT album. Excellent drink yourself to death, but only after killing a bunch of people music. "Drinkin' on a Pile of Skulls" is, perhaps, the slowest song I've ever heard. The Saint Vitus cover (Born Too Late) is excellent. Fantomas - S/T What a weird fucking album. I love it. Really, that's all I can say. Blood for Blood - Spit my Last Breath I don't really dig this one. The title song is pretty cool, but everything else is basically standard fat fuck hardcore. I'd give another album a chance if it didn't sound like this one.
