JoeDirt Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 What were your favorite moments from the Austin/McMahon feud? Did you like the WWF at this time, or was there not enough good wrestling on the shows for you?
Lil' Bitch Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Beer Truck and Dr. Austin segments are mine.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Beer Truck and Dr. Austin segments are mine. No mention of McMahon 3:16 "I just pissed my pants"?! How dare you sir, I challenge you to a duel! (slaps you with glove) Do you have any seconds?
Guest Choken One Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Zamboni is EASILY the most defining moment of the angle...the beer truck was more Austin/Rock then Austin/McMahon. Let's not forget the cement truck on the corvette.
JoeDirt Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Zamboni is EASILY the most defining moment of the angle...the beer truck was more Austin/Rock then Austin/McMahon. Let's not forget the cement truck on the corvette. I also believe the zamboni show is also the show where Rock pinned Taker in that tag match, and they did a good job of making it seem like a really big deal.
iliketurtles Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 That whole WWF title belt presentation segments (2 of them..one before and the one after the commercial) as some classic WWF TV. Austin attacking McMahon, getting arrested and claiming "I ain't through you, Vince, not yet but a long shut" PLUS Taker/Kane attacking McMahon and breaking his leg was just great stuff.
snuffbox Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 "Austin...Your FIIIIIRRRRREED!!!" St Valentines Massacre bump The First Stunner Royal Rumble 99
Papacita Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The first Stunner, obviously. Even though it was a little fucked up, I was IN SHOCK when Austin did it. It was so surreal. The Zamboni incident is definitely up there. The Raw where Austin held McMahon hostage. I'm not sure how it came across to the IWC, but I loved that show. One of the few shows that had me on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. Plus, looking back at it now, I like the hostage stuff because they actually made an effort to explain why the cameras would be allowed to record the whole thing (Vince made them record everything so that Austin's actions were documented for police or something like that), unlike now, where they just act like the cameras aren't there. Finally, I liked Austin's causing Vince to be eliminated from the Corporate Rumble...you can guess why.
Guest Ray Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 My favorite moment would be the definitive match of the feud, Austin vs Dude Love - Over The Edge 1998.
kirk angel Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Mine was the raw after the Undertaker/kane match with Austin as ref where I heard my favorite Vince quote " You didn't live up to your end of the deal, NOW I'M NOT GONNA LIVE UP TO MINE"
JustJoe2k5 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 St. Valentine's Day Massacre was a very fun ass-kicking to watch, even though I have and always will despise Vince McMahon. I also liked when he gave the double-bird to Undertaker and Kane on the night of the presentation ceremony, Undertaker turned around real quick and caught him, and another brutal ass-kicking began.
MillenniumMan831 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I liked Vince's tirade after Austin had a pullapart with Mike Tyson. "YOU'VE RUINED IT! YOU'VE RUINED IT!!!"
JST Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 After Vince returned from being arrested: [paraphrased]:"...Austin, you forced me to make an apology, WHICH I DIDN'T MEAN, by the way!!"
JoeDirt Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 After Vince returned from being arrested: [paraphrased]:"...Austin, you forced me to make an apology, WHICH I DIDN'T MEAN, by the way!!" I liked when Vince was in handcuffs...Austin rubs his head. "He's a good kid."
smh810 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Raw where Austin held McMahon hostage. I'm not sure how it came across to the IWC, but I loved that show. One of the few shows that had me on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. Personally, that show is my favorite RAW of all time. At first I thought (probably like most people) it was a re-hash of the Brian Pillman angle but the payoff was piss-your pants funny (pun intended).
MillenniumMan831 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I loved in 2 of 3 weeks Vince had Mankind protecting him (in the hospital with Mr. Socko and in the back playing Twister with Vinnie) until Foley got on his nerves so much that he kicked him out leaving Open Season for Austin.
The Tino Standard Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Bedpan McMahon was classic, as well as Vince's rant the following week: "YOU VIOLATED ME AUSTIN! YOU VIOLATED ME!!!"
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Vince McMahon Humanitarian of the Year Award Ceremony - So contrived- maybe thats why I liked it....
Tony149 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 You guys pretty much nailed my favorite moments. Believe it or not, I actually hated the WWF at that point (Nitro & the nWo angle made me a WCW fan since Raw sucked from 1995-1996); I thought they were nothing but bad language and sex. It wasn't till I caught a McMahon/Austin segment that I became a WWF fan again. A lot of their classic stuff is on the Best of Raw vol. 1 & 2 DVD. I know they released the "Austin/McMahon: The Whole True Story" video on DVD (haven't seen it), but they should go back and make a special edition that includes tons of shit. I can only imagine the IWC hated that. I thought it was hilarious, as well as the "Rocky" parody when McMahon was training for the Royal Rumble.
Cran Da Maniac Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 The first McMahon/Austin Match, especially the little shots in the back where the Stooges were giving Vince tips on how to counter the stunner by grabbing his leg. Loved the whole idea of Austin fighting with one hand tied behind his back, and then when Dude Love came down, I was throughly gripped by it.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 -Vince McMahon training for the 1999 Royal Rumble. I absolutely LOVE that segment. The whole Rocky-esque montage. Shane annoying Vince with the megaphone. "Endurance! Endurance! Endurance!" And of course "I HATE AUSTIN! I HATE AUSTIN!" And the part where Vince wanted Shane to chase the chicken and Shane quickly said "I'm not the one training for the Royal Rumble." and then had Vince chased a chicken in the snow was excellent. I loved Shane back when he was just "Vince McMahon's annoying son who thought he was cool." Remember that? That was the perfect role for him. -The Beer Truck Incident. I remember marking out like crazy when that happened. Likewise, I marked out when Kurt Angle did the Milk Truck two years later. -Stone Cold beating the hell out of Vince McMahon in the hospital. Pure hilarity. Vince's screaming was just so funny. And when Austin said "Shut up!" and hit him over the head with the bed pan, that was classic. And I loved the beginning where Austin said "I'll take everything from here." And then just charges at McMahon. -The Cement Truck incident. -The Zamboni. -Austin spending a day at WWF headquarters. I love those segments. -The St. Valentine's Day Massacare Cage Match. -Shane screwing Austin at Survivor Series 1998: Deadly Game. -The Corporate Royal Rumble. Just like Tony149, I was a WCW fan through and through until the Austin/McMahon angle. That's when I started watching the WWF again and eventually tuned out WCW to the point that I never watched them during their final months. And it was originally due to the boys in my 5th grade class, who were OBSESSED with wrestling, talking about it constantly. Yet another reason why that year was awesome.
Art Sandusky Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I just watched a good few of these the other day when I popped the Best of Raw volume 1 tape in for some nostalgia. Man, you just don't see crowds that frenzied anymore. The zamboni incident had the hottest fucking crowd I've ever seen. When JR says in the Austin vs McMahon tape that the people at the Joe Louis Arena said they'd never heard a crowd that loud before, I'm inclined to believe it wasn't WWF hyperbole at work.
Guest Mosaicv2 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 I like the zamboni stuff backstage after the incident as Vince was screamin at the top of his lungs "TAKE HIM TO JAIL!! YOURE GOIN TO JAIL YOU SON OF A BITCH!! YOURE GOIN TO JAIL!!"
Guest JMA Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 The first Stunner on McMahon was my favorite. One thing I DIDN'T like was the whole hostage thing. It was just so contrived.
Guest Besus Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 -The St. Valentine's Day Massacare Cage Match. "Hey Jackass! That's you in the black,is the son of a bitch still breathing?" -Shane screwing Austin at Survivor Series 1998: Deadly Game. 1,2...FUCK YOU! Anyone here got "WWF Hell Yeah:Stone Cold's Saga Continues"?
Guest theoldxpac Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Too many favourites to name, i have the Austin V McMahon video and thats excellent, but the best video is Austin 3:16 uncensored, that is a godly video and has all the best McMahon/Austin moments from 97 & 98.
Jericholic82 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 yea how about the next raw after th epost wm 14 raw when austin got arrested. He came down with a suit and tie (and a sc baseball cap). vince asked him about the cap and he took it off. Then at the end after you thought (well work with me here from the marks pov) he had sold out austin asked vince to take a picture with him, then hits him low with a quick shot and then takes a pic of vince holding his ummmm area. priceless. even though a lot of crash tv was dumb this feud at least the original part of it from late 97-wm 15 was gold. also the raw before valentines day massacre, vince has the corporation hold austin back in the corner and screams at him something to the effect of "your never going to get that title as long as I live, NEVER NEVER NEVER look at me NEVER!!!!!"
Jericholic82 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 oops almost forgot vince and the stooges going to bars and diners in texas looking for austin prior to valentines day. he was trying to get austin to attack him unprovoked (this was the storyline clasue in his n ew contract after vince fired him after the oct 98 judgment day for being a lousy ref) if austin attacked him unprovoked, vince could fire him (hmmmm sounds similar co-gm of raw anyone?) lol patterson hitting on some lady and she hit him in the groin lmao "Vince:Have you seen austin? Bartender: I reckon not Vince: you reckon not? Where I come from we don't reckon"
geniusMoment Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Damn, reading all of those makes me realize how much I used to anticipate Raw every week. I would actually get butterflys in my stomach around 8:50. Sitting with all of my friends watching raw on a big screen television.
