I hope they don't get all anti-climatic and have Rey Mysterio just win the title again. I know it'll never happen, but I would put the title on one of the guys that isn't on TV as much, in hopes that such a big win at this PPV would elevate them somewhat.

As the match progresses, they could get the fans behind one of them I'm sure.

Who else can you put it on though?

All of Kidman's pushes have bombed.

Dragon, Moore and Funaki never win.

The rest are heels

If they were smart enough they would have it get down to London/Chavo and let London get insanely close to winning, but Chavo cheats and keeps his title, setting off a new feud for the cruiser title.

But who would you promote?

Funaki is a joke.

Shannon Moore is a joke and not very good.

Kidman never seems to get over.

I guess there's Ultimo but it'd be hard to buy him winning since he never does.

I'd put it on any one of them.

Funaki - Sure he's a joke, but he's a very solid wrestler when he is allowed to actually do so. I can just imagine the fans getting really behind him as the match goes on, after he keeps getting "lucky". Just picture him winning the match in the end, and then acting all surprised. I think the fans would react to him, but that's just me.

Shannon Moore - He was showcased quite a bit weeks ago, with that stupid "Coming back for Moore" gimmick. I'm sure the fans remember that, and this would be a pretty cool way to thank him for going a long for it. I don't know what you would do with him after he won it, but I'd rather him win it than to have an anti-climatic moment at WM once again.

Kidman - His winning it could be great. The fans may not be too into him right now, but imagine how it could be if done the right way if he was the guy that beat Rey Mysterio to win the title at WM. Have him start off with Mysterio and have it go very fairly, then as it goes on have him heel more and more. Ater WM, perhaps on the next SD, have him cut a promo where he totally goes heel. In other words, finally go forward with the gimmick they were seemingly going to give him months ago, looking all cool with the women, possibly feuding with Rey.

Ultimo - This would be the guy that I'd give it to. All they need to do is allow him to be Ultimo Dragon in the match, and the fans will react to him. I'd love to see it come down to either him and Rey, Chavo, or Tajiri. It could make for some very interesting matches.

I just don't want some big thing where Rey "finally" wins the title back. I'd rather either a heel overcome Rey somehow, or a new up and coming face to take it.

Whatever happens, I do not want to see the match booked like a heavy match. By the, I mean that whoever wins does so in the same cliche way that the matches seem to be ending here lately. Screw job, outside help, etc... Even if a heel wins, I want him to win fairly.

Then again, what world am I living in? :D

As long as Ultimo is in, I'm happy. Put the title on him, even better. They should have put more effort into his debut to establish him as a hugely influential figure and put it on him then of course but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Even with his smaller repertoire these days he's got enough to get over with. And a cool entrance, which some marks still react to.

With Jim Ross playing up the fact that Matt Hardy hasn't won a match since coming to Raw, I would think this would be the perfect opportunity for Matt to involve himself in the match and "steal" a Smackdown title.

At the very least, the Cruiserweight Open should include the Raw talent that probably won't be on the show - Hurricane, Spike, etc.

London is a definate must-have. WrestleMania would be the perfect opportunity for someone such as him to make a lasting impression.

Eh, Nobody watches Velocity anyway, so his losses are nothing. Like Rey, they dig the look and to some degree; the mystique.

I know that London is popular here, but to the average fan I think he's a nobody. I've never really heard him get much reaction. I would drop one of Tajiri's henchmen for a surprise entry though.

10 seems like the right amount of participants to me. You don't want the match to get all clusterfucky.

And what would he do w/ it on Raw? Th only guys on Raw who would fit the bill as cruisers are Spike & Helms, neither of which are anything other than jobbers. Plus, the CW Title *should* be below Hardy at this point.

They need to make room for ... Jeff Hardy.

Ahahaha. No.

Matt and Hurricane can't be in it. Like Mickey Cole always says...'The Cruiserweight Division is exclusive to Smackdown.'

C_Dubya, the reason London doesn't get reaction is because he hasn't had appeared on Smackdown regularly since arriving in the company. He could and would get over if he was given a gimmick and T.V time...and that's not just the London fan in me saying that.

London not being in it is reason enough for him to go back to ROH hopefully. I mean, talk about a kick in the teeth...Funaki's in, but not London? I haven't seen Funaki wrestle in months.

And DH, I agree about Rey...having him win it would be anti-climatic. But I ideally wouldn't have Chavito lose it yet personally. Unless it goes to Ultimo and we get Ultimo/Chavito feuding, I'd rather see him retain the belt.

You never know, they might give Nova a chance to debut (just not as Mike Bucci). The thing this match shows me though is, while there are plenty of credible heel title holders (Chavo, Tajiri, Noble), since Rey came along, there haven't been any credible face contenders. Personally, I'd love to see them use this match to build up Funaki, but you know that the final face in the match is almost certain to be Mysterio.

On the otherhand, they colud use this match to turn one of the heels. Have Akio rebelling against Tajiri or another heel battling to the end against Chavo. It can't hurt to do something like that, especially for guys like Akio who have no heat right now.

They need to make room for Paul London, Hurricane and Jeff Hardy.

No need for that.

At all.

Anyway, I'm rooting for

Matt could hold the belt hostage and just defend against the Raw talent, making himself look unbeatable in the process, before he's forced to face a SD challenger at a joint PPV.

Yeah, it's a step back for Matt but I don't see them doing anything more entertaining with the Cruiserweight Open. Hopefully one of the often-looked over guys has a good showing.

Ultimo isn't over at all right now with the casual watcher but watch him put away 3 or 4 guys in a row and the crowd will be all over him.

Being kept off Smackdown for months on end for no apparent reason DOES hurt though.

The fans probably think he's dead.

BAH! London should be in this match. They have all of the cruiserweights from Smackdown in the match except him.

Plus, WM 20 would be the PERFECT chance for people to see London's SSP.

They could throw the RAW guys in there, with them complaining mistreatment. Heyman makes a deal if they win, and win the title, he will give them a guaranteed contract on Smackdown with a main event (if they win both matches, so either a rematch vs. Chavo or vs. the last elimination). If they lose, we could see them get "punished" by Bischoff. This would only be like Spike and Hurricane, so it could lead to mini-Hurricane push or usual Spike beatdown. Gives angles for both after Mania and puts them on the show.

Lords of Pain made a comment that Sakoda and Paul London could be added to this match after all. I'd post the report, but the site went down on my server :(

If it were up to me I'd put it on Dragon. He said he dream was to wrestle at MSG and WM so he gets both and goes out on top. And few weeks later I have him lost if the rumors of Dragon wanting to leave the fed are true. And with the way he's been treated I don't blame him.

Well, for now, the graphic on SmackDown tonight had the 10 aformentioned wrestlers. No London, Sakoda or anybody else.
