If he'd said that 5 years ago (when there weren't any major conflicts going on) it wouldn't have caused such a ruckus.

Dropped pass after pass? Nope. He came up huge in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Ohio State, and made a huge 4th down catch (not an easy catch, either) last year to keep a game winning drive alive against W. Virginia. He had a down year last year, mainly because Brock Berlin was wildly inconsistent, as well as didn't look to Kellen as much as Dorsey did. Kellen greatly improved his blocking, as well. He, along w/ Ben Troupe, are the 2 best TE's in the draft. Had Dorsey been there 1 more year, Kellen would have had a huge year.

I Co-sign with you, How many times I've heard football players referred as soldiers/warriors of the gridiron, and how about the battle of the trenches? The Media was making a big deal out of nothing.

Guest Redhawk Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 I think people want athletes to show disappointment after a loss, but not to go ranting and raving to the media about spilled milk. Now this isn't necessarily what I want to see, just what I think others want. The problem with that is -- and I said this right after the Winslow thing -- the media is ALWAYS there. The reason why we even heard Winslow's "soldier" statement, Shaq's "I don't give a shit," Roy Williams' "I don't give a shit," and most everything Bobby Knight says is because the media just HAS to interview guys immediately after games. Now, as a member of the print media, I understand why you sometimes have to interview guys immediately after the game, as you may be on a strict deadline. But I don't see the need for immediate interviews for the national broadcast media. They can wait until the guys leave the locker room and have had time to cool down, but most media peopel feel like you have to be RIGHTTHERE as everything happens. I hate the "going-into-the-locker-room" halftime interview where they always ask for strategy and the guy never says much anyway (because the other team could have a scout watching) and the "sweaty-ass, breathing hard, can't think yet" interview that happens almost as the final buzzer is still sounding. When the media stops bumrushing athletes, you won't hear as many controversial statements.

The media doesn't want comments from someone who's had the chance to cool off after getting showered and dressed. They want comments from someone who's fresh from the heat of battle and hasn't had time to calm down and think rationally.

It sucked because Green Bay didnt make the playoffs...
