Guest I Got Banned for Sucking

It was such a strange feeling... Not at all like other WrestleManias, but definitely not like your average Pay-Per-View.

Seeing it transpire was just so surreal.

What did you think of WWE WrestleMania XX overall?

I agree, it didn't feel like a Wrestlemania at all. Great moment for Benoit winning the title, but honestly when it comes down to it, I think this is going to end up as one of the least memorable 'Manias ever, 5-10 years down the line.

It was a lot better than I was expecting.

Cena / Show - Great work from them as usual. Nice to see Cena with midcarder gold now.

RAW's Tag Titles Fatal 4 Way - Didn't care really, but RVD / Booker won so that's cool.

Christian / Jericho - Very good match, hated the finish though.

Rock & Foley / Evolution - I was very surprised they put Evolution over. The finish just came out of nowhere. I'm glad Flair was added because he made the match ten times better. Very good along with some great crowd reaction.

Divas Tag Team - Some T & A in decent time. Stripping down to bras and panties was also surprising. Nothing harm done here. I wish Rico accompanied Miss Jackie though.

The Cruiserweight Open - Very disappointing. Definitely should have been given more time with everybody they were working with. I feel so bad for Ultimo for slipping. Funaki only getting 5 seconds in. Kidman almost killing himself. Chavo Guerrero retaining didn't help either. And WTF was up with Rey? Is it going to be a WM tradition for him every year dressing up like a superhero?

Goldberg / Lesnar - A huge disappointment for many for this dream match, especially for me. Definitely not what I had hoped to see. It could have been just so much better. Seeing Vince's golden boy jobbing to WCW's pet project clean on WWE holy ground will always be another shocking moment for me. The crowd hate was just phenominal. Goldberg getting the fuck booed out of him was beautiful. And finally every WWE fan got their wish of seeing Austin stun Goldberg. :D

SD's Tag Title Fatal 4 Way - Scotty & Rikishi retained. Ugh.

Victoria / Molly - I was actually hoping Molly would win by DQ so she could retain her hair while Victoria could retain the title. I was just hoping they would copout on the hair cut like they did with Nash. Poor, poor Molly. :( I was also said to not see Steven Richards come out.

Angle / Guerrero - Absolutely terrific. Every second of it. I loved it. It could have gone either way. Angle was just booked very strong in this match, so much I actually thought he was gonna pull it off.

Undertaker / Kane - Kane was just horribly slaughtered. There's no other way to put it. Definitely not the match I saw 6 years ago (especially when it took THREE tombstones to beat Kane then). And with that, I saw Kane's career die tonight and I no longer care about him.

Chris Benoit / HHH / Shawn Michaels - HHH jobbed the title to Chris Benoit in the main event of WM 20 clean. Never saw it coming. Just wow, I'm still in disbelief. The one thing I never thought was going to happen...happened and I can't thank WWE enough for it. Eddie coming in to close with him just added to the greatness. The match was also good as it kept me guessing the entire time.

Thoughts:

- I didn't catch all of C/Jericho as I was eating and had my head turned. I didn't expect the Trish thing and she is indeed a whole lot sexier as a heel ;). I felt that it was good for C to go over as if Jericho won, it really wouldn't have done anything for Jericho and it would hurt C as he wouldn't really be a threat to anybody in the ring. It was alright.

Verdict: So-so

- I was zoning in and out of the Evolution vs. Foley/Rock match. It wasn't really worthy of a WM match, but it was fun for what it was. Flair and Rock's interactions were great. I didn't like Orton going over at all, although the timing on that RKO ruled.

Verdict: Okay

- Torrie/Sable vs. Stacy/Jackie was...what it was. I wasn't a horrible waste of time and had my attention a lot more than the tag team title matches so...I might rewind back to it later :tup. *shrink*

Verdict: Stiffy

- Taker/Kane was one HUGE disapointment. I've never been the biggest of Taker fans, but I was quite intrigued by the old school, long hair, Taker with his DEAD MAN ATTIRE....but, instead we get Bad Ass Taker with slightly longer hair with JR, King, and Kane selling him being dead. He looked like a cowboy during his entrance, too. WTF was the point of bringing Taker back like this after hyping him to be the Dead Man? WHAT THE FUCK?!

Verdict: Huge Disapointment

- Lesnar/Goldberg was awesome for all of the wrong reasons. That of course being that they were booed out of the arena. The match itself was horrible. But, the crowd made that match for keeping it real ;).

Verdict: BAD ASS

- Tag Title matches were so fucking horrible. Booker/RVD's music is so bad that it killed their crowd heat. I will never watch those matches again. Make sure to skip them on your DVD next month, kids.

Verdict: Kill Me

- Victoria/Holly sucked. Could have had one cool spot with the sunset flip powerbomb, but Victoria had to hold on for a second to kill the momentum of it :\. Molly is bald :(.

Verdict: Sucked

- Cruiserweight Open. I actually was hoping that WWE would give this the time it needed, since this PPV was 4 and a half hours long. But, noooo. It got like 10 minutes and was super rushed. Few spots were cool, but that's it. I would say that it is safe to say that no wrestler will ever try a Shooting Star Press again at a WM. Think about if Noble and Nunzio didn't catch Kidman enough...ouch.

Verdict: Eh.

- Show/Cena was only cool for the crowd. Being the first match on the card, the crowd ate it up. I think it also got the time it deserved (around 12 minutes). Cena really needs to fall down with that F-U like he used to so it has more impact as a finisher, though..

Verdict: Passable

- Eddie Guerrero/Kurt Angle wasn't the match of the decade or anything, but I felt it was a solid *** 3/4. Good match. The ending was so clever. I really wouldn't mind a series of matches with these guys, but then again...who wouldn't?

Verdict: Awesome

- Triple Threat. The match started off just okay. The crowd was tired until it picked up around the middle. I'm not sure to say if it is better than Eddie/Angle or not, cause I'm still marking over Benoit making HHH tap. Benoit winning, while owning HBK and making HHH tap CLEAN with the crowd 100% made Wrestlemania for me. FINALLY, I'm not disapointed after a WM ended! Benoit winning is also the biggest markout I've ever had for wrestling, counting HBK's comeback match, anything ECW, anything ever. Just so awesome. Eddie coming out and them hugging while crying was a very touching moment. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome (dude).

Verdict: If Benoit didn't win, it still would have been a very entertaining match, but him winning while owning HBK, then making HHH tap clean just puts it through the rough. FUCKING BAD ASS

Random Thoughts:

- Was that Ventura segment worthless or what?

- That set was like the most awesome WM set up ever.

- Was that new Twin Towers the "cutting edge technology" that you guys were hyping about? If so, that really sucked. Maybe you guys are talking about the ending video, which I haven't seen yet..

- Greg Valentine = HHH at the end of this year.

- Was there anybody on the roster that wasn't on camera tonight?

Everything with women stunk, every match without a title on the line blew, and every match with more than five people in it was a waste of time.

That leaves the World Title matches, which were okay.

Taker made his awesome return, Angle & Eddie tore the house down and Benoit won the World title.

Doesn't get much better than that.

The show seemed like it went for 18 hours though, it just seemed REALLY drawn out. Guess that was appropriate though.

It sucked. It wasn't special at all, Benoit aside. Crowd sucked, too. Suck, suck, suck! IT SUCKED!

The return of Taker was the biggest disappointment. He was EXACTLY the same, except he has a new entrance and his old manager. Suck!

I don't care what board I'm on, I loved the show from top to freaking bottom. One or two bumps along the way with the pointless T&A that didn't show T or A and Taker... now with added novelty hat! But overall, an excellent show in my book. Not "Best WM ever", probably not "PPV of the year", and if I'd paid $50 like you American suckers I would be pissed. But all things considered, I loved it.

I liked The Chris' match, Eddie/Angle and the triple threat. Cene/Big Show was okay.

Everything else was a disappointment. Not a very good WM at all and I was so hyped for this and wanted to love it. My brother and uncle were falling a sleep.

And fuck the Undertaker. He might as well have been wearing cowboy boots and came out on a horse because he looked like an old Texas sherriff in a western.

But...He was supposed to be the DEADMAN. When you die, you keep the same clothes you were buried in. When he woke up from the dead, did Taker say "Hey I'm going to need new clothes. Where's the closest JC Penney's?" No he's not! He was DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! When you die, you still grow hair in your grave. It made absolute sense to make him come out like that!

I like the whole spaghetti western type feel to him now.

Same here. One of my favourite WrestleManias of all time. Possibly not better than X-7, but it was still awesome.

The main event was one of the most emotionally gripping matches I've ever seen. When Triple H finally tapped, that was one of the best moments I've seen in wrestling. Benoit's finally the champ.

Bad ass western Undertaker is awesome. A bit different than what I expected, but he's still pretty damn cool. No letdown here.

I actually enjoyed Goldberg/Lesnar. I was thrilled to see the two booed out of the building. Hopefully, they both just go away now. Austin stunnering both of them was great.

Angle/Eddie was damn good. It was a bit slow at first, but once it picked up, it was great.

Jericho/Christian was awesome, too. Great match, minus the botch. Christian is one bad ass dude.

Molly/Victoria was not. I was ticked by the ending. Molly is probably the best, and classiest looking female wrestler, and she gets her head shaved. Why couldn't that happen to Ivory?! Or Jazz?!

The RAW tag was just there. The SD tag was basically the APA/Tazz vs. RTC of WMX7. Bad, but not offensive.

Vince McMahon saying thank you and the Hall of Fame ceremony was really classy.

Rock/Foley vs. Evolution was probably one of the best matches of the night. I was in total mark-out mode for Ric Flair. His attempted People's Elbow was gold. I wasn't thrilled with the result, but at least Foley got up right after the RKO. They should have stayed on Foley's standing ovation longer.

Then, they followed that up with a horrible women's match. Ugh. I guess it was good for what it was..2 minutes, or so.

The cruiserweight open sucked. No love for Funaki. Ultimo slipping was probably the best part.

Show/Cena wasn't too good, but I was happy with the result.

Overall, I had a great time. These are the kind of shows that make you a wrestling fan.

Why complain about it though? At least this Undertaker moves rather quickly, and thus his matches won't be as long as they were in the mid-90s.

I was there...the benoit title win was the best thing ive ever seen at a show, HHH totally did the right thing for once. I was so drained.....they built it to a point where im not sure i could have (literally) ever watched wrestling again had he not won.

beautiful...

I thought three things after that match.

1.) The Lesnar leaving stuff really isn't a work.

2.) They're EXTRAORDINARILY pissed off at Brock.

3.) As of this moment (and things change, but as of right now), there's a better we'll see Goldberg re-signing with the company than Brock returning.

I was a little dissapointed, but the main event more than made up for it... I was drawn into that match more than any match that I can remember in recent memory... just an absolute classic. It may have not been a ***** move-set wise, but it had enough drama and emotion to warrant that star rating in my opinion.

And the end of the show... with Eddie and Chris embracing and crying... just such an amazingly powerful moment... it had everyone in my room watching just in complete awe

As much as we bash WWE... it proves that they can get it right sometimes and that the magic is still there when they allow it to surface

Was it just me or did it seem like Jericho was calling spots and carrying Christian the whole match?

yeah I noticed that too... and I'm not surprised... still a decent match and even though I saw the trish turn a mile away

a little dissapointed, but evil bitch Trish mixed with bastard Christian is going to be a great combo

Quick thoughts on the show:

Cena/Show: Decent opener, crowd seemed pretty hot for it and a good finish. Putting the US title on Cena = good idea.

Raw 4-way tag: Fairly tedious but inoffensive. At least Jindrak & Cade didn't win. Filler.

Y2J/Christian: Great midcard match, probably second best of the night. Good spots helped keep the crowd alive, some nice heat for both men and a finish that, though unsatisfying, keeps the feud going a little longer. Christians facial expressions are nearing Vince levels of greatness.

Rock & Sock/Evolution: Classic WM 'attraction' match, i.e. not great ringwork, but the People's Strut segment was a markout moment for me. How come Flair took all the big bumps for his team? How old is he now? Too old to be taking back body drops on the floor.

Divas: Stacy looked hot as usual. That is all.

CW Open: Fairly disappointing. I just ended up feeling really bad for half the guys in it, what with Ultimo falling about the place on his entrance(he looked really off in the ring too), Funaki and Akio getting a combined ring time of about 5 seconds and everyone barring Rey, Kidman and Noble looking pretty inferior all round. Kidmans spots saved this match.

GB/Lesnar: Bizarre. Absolutely bizarre. Bad match with such a negative crowd reaction that it was like the fun was sucked out of the event until halfway through Angle/Eddie. Whole thing stank of backstage politics, and not in a good way.

Molly/Victoria: I was hoping for a really good match out of these two, but this was one of the worst WM Women's matches in ages. Short, pontless 'nothing' match with almost no crowd reaction. I felt very uncomfortable watching Molly's head get shaved. Whole thing compounded the already bad crowd atmosphere.

Smackdown 4-way tag: Crowd didn't seem to give a shit by this point. Neither did I. Crappy match with a crappy finish.

Angle/Eddie: Solid match, nowhere near as good as it could have been though, and well below the standard set by Lesnar/Eddie a month prior. Picked up considerably later on and finally gave the crowd something to cheer for again. Reasonable finish given that the feud is clearly continuing.

Taker/Kane: If you're going to do something as ridiculous as the Deadman gimmick, you have to go the whole hog with it. I'm sure I'm not alone with the half-arsing of the gimmick. Where were the hair extensions and the old school costume? What was with the whole Clint Eastwood thing? Meh, on the plus side it was nice to see Paul Bearer again and the match was about as good as a glorified squash with two big men gets. Great looking tombstone.

Triple Threat Match: Saved the show. Great work from all three guys, the crowd finally woke up and the drama and emotion was brilliant. Benoits eventual win (which was perfectly done IMO) and subsequent hug with Eddie was the icing on the cake. I marked out like mad most of the match. Especially when HHH and HBK were in the ring going at it with Benoit on the floor, and the crowd were still chanting for Benoit. Top stuff.

Overall, the show seriously suffered from a rash of mediocre-bad matches and some bad booking, as well as an extremely strange crowd atmosphere. If the show had ended after UT/Kane I would have been extremely dissappointed, but as it was...it was OK. A different crowd and 3-4 less matches would have done it the world of good.

One more thing. Why was Benoit announced as being from Atlanta? Yeah, he might live there, but what's the idea?

He was announced as being from Atlanta?!? Didn't hear it, so I can't comment on it.

As for Taker... I guess he's replacing Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing. ;)

Overall I loved the two World title matches. The Farewell match was surreal. Everything else was filler to me.

Could they have messed up a couple more spots? I bet Vinnie Mac gave em hell when they came back through the curtain.

I know people might not agree with me, but last night I fell in love with the WWE and wrestling again. That was in the top 3 of wrestlemanias that I've seen/cared about.

The playboy match...was what it was. In my opinion, it was very, very good...in a gratuitous sort of way. I didn't expect any wrestling, but watching near naked stacy roll about the ring with her legs in the air was enough for me to mark out.

The tag matches were lost and pointless, I'll definitely say that. They seemed to have no place on that show, and no one seemed to care. It didn't bring me down much though because I was expecting that, so I didn't really care about those matches.

The only part of the show when I was pissed off was during Brock/Goldberg. Personally, I like hoss matches...and I thought that match would have been decent. It just seemed very odd...not to mention boring. They just stood around for 15 minutes...and for the whole match, they just didn't do anything. I liked the crowd reaction, which showed that even marks know grade F work when they see it. Just horrible...horrible...and I didn't recover until Eddie/Angle. It also didn't help that a pointless tag match followed that spectacle. It just seemed like they changed the match at the last second, and neither man really wanted to do anything.

Eddie/Angle...rock! I just love watching those two work in the ring...it's just fun. Eddie really combines great ring work with a true essence of sports entertainment. The finish was spectacular.

I know that I will be in the minority, but I loved the Undertaker. Sure, I would have liked to see him in longer hair...with the big tie, and a bit more pasty white. But I've been waiting for years for him to go back to the deadman gimmick, and I marked out when he came out. Paul Bearer was a very nice touch. I kind of wish that Kane hadn't gotten squashed, but I was still marking cause I love old school Taker. Also, I kind of wish UT wouldn't have sold as much...at least not the punches and such. Hell, if you're gonna do a squash...do it all the way. I think, for me, I was so excited about Taker coming back with the deadman gimmick, he could have come out with pink booties and a sombrero, and i would have been happy.

Rock's promo was great!

And, of course...like everyone else, I marked like crazy when HHH tapped out. That match was one of the best matches I've seen WWE put on in a long time. I was totally into the whole match (although, part of that was cause at the beginning, my friends and I had an over-under bet going on how many moves HHH would do...the over/under was 5). The double suplex onto the table was sick...although, I"m not sure why Shawn would help HHH, but still...it looked sick. I love they way they teased the crossface through out the whole match. They really made it look like the greatest submission hold of all time that no one could tap out of. When Beniot locked it on, I was thinking...dammit...if he'd locked on Michaels, then he'd have a chance...but HHH ain't tappin. And, I was patting myself on the back for being right when he got to the ropes....but then, I marked harder than I have every marked before when Beniot rolled over and locked it in again. I knew then...right then...that this would be a historical moment. I knew right then that HHH was going to do the job...and cleanly. I knew right then that HHH would tap out. I knew right then that hell was freezing over. And for me...that ending was so amazing, that it made up for anything that was lacking in the show (like the Heenan/Mean Gene make out spot, or the Ventura political plug).

I don't care what anyone says...that show just fucking ruled!
