Guest Unwritten Religion Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 It isn't a song I wanna listen to often because it is actually disturbing. But the way it's written, delivered, and put together is pure genius. I think that track is an example of how truly talented Em is. The emotion conveyed in that track is amazing. Whatcha think?
Nevermortal Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 The one track where he's screaming about killing everyone? That's a great track.

Whenever I rape a girl she can sense the emotion I am trying to convey. I am a genius!
Guest Choken One Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Please... "Stan" was the real GENIUS of the Album. This was em trying to be shocking... Stan had an incredible flow and story and one of the most memorable tracks in the modern era.

Stan had an incredible flow and story and one of the most memorable tracks in the modern era. I love how you can just spout out crap like "one of the most memorable tracks in the modern era" and expect people to take such inane fluff seriously. Kim is a song where he talks about killing his wife. Brilliance indeed.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 "Kim" is good but only because it is a great prelude to "'97 Bonnie & Clyde".
Nighthawk Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 I can't listen to Stan because the scratching noise (representing writing, I suppose) drives me crazy.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 I can't listen to Stan because the scratching noise (representing writing, I suppose) You would be correct.
ant_7000 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 UWR are you a member of ahh.com? Because I saw the same thread in there.
1234-5678 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 "Kim" is good but only because it is a great prelude to "'97 Bonnie & Clyde". Yeah I had a friend put those tracks together on a CD the way they were meant to be.........complete and utter brilliance.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Stan clicks better with the "direct audience" of the CD I think because of the teenage audience idolizing Eminem. But the Kim track is very good, although it's disturbing and hard to listen to sometimes. (Short and simple: It's sick, and not the good sick)
ant_7000 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 The Kim track is disturbing but it is creative. Stan is genius IMO.
Jack_Bauer Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 I hate rap. I hate Eminem. I hate every single and album he has ever done and I HAVE listened to all of them repeatedly thanks to my friends. THAT song is totally excellent.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Hey, UW... I didn't know you posted at AllHipHop Forums. Unless I'm just trippin' or some shit (being the exact thread that is).
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Stan is by far and away IMO the best Eminem track ever. It is truly genius.
Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Not a fan of Eminem, but Kim is defintaly fun. Did they edit the 12 year old with a slit throat deal out of the song?
chaosrage Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Not a fan of Eminem, but Kim is defintaly fun. Did they edit the 12 year old with a slit throat deal out of the song? 4 year old and I think so
Youth N Asia Posted March 30, 2004 Report Posted March 30, 2004 Ah, I couldn't tell what it was due to the edit
Guest Adrian 3:16 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Ugh. I hate that song. I don't care how "creative" it is, its a chore to listen to. Stan is cool, but Till I Collapse is Em's best song easily IMO.
CanadianChick Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 One of my favorite Eminem songs is Hailey's Song. It's interesting to see the completely different side of him. You know what's neat to do? Listen to Kim and Hailey's Song back-to-back.
Guest HHH123007 Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Yes....yelling "Bleed Bitch, Bleed!" during a rap song is a stroke of genius. (I like Eminem, just not this song) Remind me to lay down the lyrics to my new future hit rap song "Raping Puppies With A Fire Poker" sometime soon.

Unless I'm just trippin' or some shit (being the exact thread that is). Yeah, I do. I meant to put JACK THREAD On the bottom and my thoughts on it, but didn't have enough time. Yeah, I say Stan is Genius too, but I think Kim is so fucking great, As it was like a movie or something. Best song Em ever did.... no, That will be Stan.
The Amazing Rando Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 So... Kim is Genius... but Stan > Kim? Does that make Stan the Albert Einstein of rap?
BUTT Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Maybe it's just me, but the Kim track reminds me of the Undertaker's Vol. 3 theme.
Ripper Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Ugh. I hate that song. I don't care how "creative" it is, its a chore to listen to. Stan is cool, but Till I Collapse is Em's best song easily IMO. Thats what I go with too.
Guest Banders Kennany Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Not a fan of Eminem, but Kim is defintaly fun. Did they edit the 12 year old with a slit throat deal out of the song? 4 year old and I think so What are you talking about here? And why would anything have to be edited out if the song was not released as a single? I only like Em a fair bit, but I think "Stan" is really great.
Nighthawk Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Sometimes they'll edit stuff out even on the album. Just to keep from getting sued I guess. Eminem agreed to cut out some Columbine references before as well, but I don't remember from what song.
Mik Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Take 7 kids from Columbine, stand em all in a line. Add an AK-47, a mac and a nine. Now you got a whole school of bullies shot up at one time It was something like that, from the Marshall Mathers CD.
Guest Coffey Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 I hate Stan & Kim both. Stan is like the Final Fantasy 7 of Eminem songs. A whole slew of people flock to it because it gets a lot of word of mouth along with a video and radio play. I think Superman, Kill You, Soldier & Sing for the Moment are all better. Hell, even Cleaning out My Closet is better...and it suffered from the Stan effect as well. That's just from that CD!

The first time I heard "Stan" I really had no idea who Eminem was. I remember hearing the Real Slim Shady song on the radio all the fucking time, but I didn't listen to rap much back then. So I actually like Stan without anyone elses opinion effecting mine. BTW, all the songs you listed ruled. Cleanin out my closet not so much, but it had a meaning to it to keep it up in the favorites list.
