Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 With the 75th pick in the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select.... Jeremy LeSueur , Cornerback from the University of Michigan. A big corner with late first round potential... in any draft but this. With a number of good corners still left, Pittsburgh follows their drafting model by taking a tall, big school cornerback to line up across from Deshea Townsend and/or Ike Taylor. LaSueur has adequate speed (4.5ish) and great athleticism to go with his tall, big frame. He's a physical corner who may have problems with the new enforcement of downfield contact, but he's a keeper nonetheless. The Steelers have had a glaring hole in their secondary for at least two years, and this should fix it fairly well. It's not often that you can get first round talent in the third round, but the Steelers manage it here.

Bored 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Well I guess I better pick now. Was going to go offensive line here and already drafted a wideout but couldn't pass on this guy. With the 77th pick the San Francisco 49ers select, Keary Colbert, wide receiver from USC.

With the 77th pick the San Francisco 49ers select, Keary Colbert, wide receiver from USC. Damn good pick. My ideal draft for the Steelers is to trade down, pick up Dunta Robinson in the late teens/early 20's, draft Losman in round 2, and then Colbert in round 3. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Minnesota Vikings select.... Tony Hargrove, DE, Georgia Tech Well-built athlete who was a quarterback and safety in high school, but rapidly grew to defensive end size upon his arrival on Tech's campus. Regarded as one of the finest pass rushers in the South, he saw his career come to an abrupt end when he was declared academically ineligible for the 2003 season. Rather than return to school in 2004, Hargrove decided to teats his wares in the National Football League. Started 13 of 24 games for the Yellow Jackets, recording 70 tackles (36 solos) with six sacks for minus-31 yards, 19 stops for losses of 58 yards, two forced fumbles, a pair of fumble recoveries and three pass deflections. I'm not sure about any of the OLB prospects still left, so a gamble on Hargrove could work. Again, the Vikes need a pash rush off the end, and Hargrove could fit the bill. Him and Hill can compete for DE, and Hargrove could be moved to OLB, as he is competent at coverage. He seems to be a bit of a project, but the man is certainly talented. MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 With the 84th pick... the Seattle Seahawks select: Jason Geathers - WR, RB Miami (FL) OVERVIEW Gifted athlete who switched back to receiver late in 2002 following an injury to flanker Kevin Beard … Prior to that, he had successfully transitioned to tailback in 2002 after two seasons at split end … One of the team's most dangerous all-purpose threats, he gained 671 yards with five touchdowns on 121 carries (5.5 avg.), 492 yards with six scores on 40 receptions (12.3 avg.), 521 yards on 24 kickoff returns (21.7 avg.) and 5 tackles (3 solos). ANALYSIS Positives: High-cut with a tall frame that shows good overall muscle development, a broad chest and shoulders, a ripped V-shaped torso and long, thick legs … Has above-average straight-line speed, using his hands and swim moves to easily defeat the jam … Versatile player with experience at receiver and running back, but looks the part of a tailback, a position he feels more comfortable playing … Has explosive initial quickness and incredible awareness of his surroundings … Shows good hole vision and makes quick decisions heading up the rush lanes … Has impressive leg drive and power through the holes … Gets into second gear in a flash turning the corner, displaying above-average initial cutback ability … Has that snap and sudden change-of-direction agility to make tacklers miss … Runs at a very low pad level, showing good shake and wiggle to elude … Alert and aggressive when picking up the blitz, firing low to quickly take defenders off their feet … Breaks arm tackles with authority and bounces to the outside in a flash when the rush lanes are clogged … Shows natural hands, extending for the ball with no concern for punishment when going for the pigskin in traffic. Negatives: Played in a system that was constantly shuttling him between the backfield and receiving unit, not giving him the proper time needed to develop … Needs to vary his speed in the short area to prevent from out-running the ball … Must show better awareness when the quarterback is flushed out to break out of his routes and come back towards the ball … Likes to overpower defenders, but if he shows more elusiveness, he won't have to take so much punishment after the catch. AGILITY TESTS 4.43 in the 40-yard dash (indoor track) … 4.52 in the 40-yard dash (outdoors) … 315-pound bench press … 395-pound squat … 242-pound power clean.
