The OAO NBA Playoffs/Finals Thread

One more thing, as much as Shaq complains about not getting touches from his teaamates, someone needs to complain about his lack of defense. Shaq only has two blocks so far in this series and the Pistons are killing them on the offensive glass. Another area where they're getting killed is on pick and rolls. Ben Wallace isn't a great enough offensive threat for the Shaq to not be in the paint more to make the guards think twice about driving into the lane. I think it's finally clear that the Lakers may be outmatched.

Playing with his kids? Didn't his daughter win a WNBA Championship? What kind of "playing" are they gonna do?

Oh that is the completely ignored daughter until she gets fame playing college hoops. he has younger ones now.

His teammates passed him the ball in the second half anyways... it's just too bad that there was an Eldon Campbell or Ben Wallace there to knock the ball away from him.

I said it before the series started and I will say it again. Lindsey Hunter....X FACTOR. That guy just has to be the most annoying defender in the league. He is alway reaching and tugging and pulling and you can see the Laker guards getting annoyed with it. Everyone is saying fisher is not being effective because of his knee. No. Its because Hunter is him with more defensive tenacity and is working him to death out there.

I checked out the box score and saw that Lindsey Hunter had more blocks than Shaquille O'Neal... I couldn't stop smiling for five minutes.

Here I am...

That was easily the most pathetic performance from Shaq I've ever seen. He played like he's never seen a pick n roll before. Moron needs to STEP OUT. And, yeah, he's not challenging shit. Get your fatass off the floor. Now, I agree with him that the ball needs to start in the post more. But "the most dominant player" can't even make a one-foot shot. Kobe had his stupidest performance ever. Stop trying to draw fouls on jumpers moron. Devean George gets hot for the first time in 6 months and they won't get the ball to him.

At this point Detroit is the better team... more heart, more desire, more aggression. They have less talent without a doubt, but they want to win more. And they're doing what it takes.

Pathetic.

Less TALENT?? REally.

Okay, you got Kobe Shaq...after that point to where the Lakers have a better player than any of the guys that touch the floor for the Pistons. Billups, Hamilton, Williamson, Wallace, Wallace, Prince are all better than the rest of the Laker team.

Hell, Elden Cambell, Okur > Medvadenko, and Cook.

Bottomline is the Lakers have 2 talented players and role players that can't play their fucking role.

The pistons have the deeper, more talented team, the lakers have the more dominant players in Oneil and Kobe, two guarenteed HOF's BTW.

Rip, it doesn't matter, even if the Pistons finish out this series at home, everyone will still say it was because the laker's lost their smiles, not because the pistons are basically kicking the shit outta them...

and that those Thugs Rasheed and Ben Wallace stole Malone's dream and Gary's destiny to be the champion.

I can't believe I am about to agree with the smaller guy off of Mike and Mike in the morning but God bless that little bastard. He's been all over the Pistons' jock before the series started and is now just rubbing it in to everyone within 50 feet of him. Him just flat out saying "The Pistons are BETTER" was a nice change of pace for the ESPN guys.

He'll be fired by Monday.

I think if you're LA, it's time to give the Cooks and Russel's of the team a shot. Malone is done. He's tough as nails, I'll give him that but 5 points, 4 rebounds and no defense in 20 or so minutes of play isn't helping anyone. Ballsy effort but determination only means so much.

So who do you think is gonna be the finals MVP, assuming of course that Detroit holds on? If the Lakers have a miracle comeback, I assume we'll have the usual suspects, but Detroit hasn't really had one main guy outside of maybe Chauncey Billups.

Here's a photo which completely sums up Game 3 of the Finals

http://www.detnews.com/pix/2004/06/11/asec...eject-0604y.jpg

All the Pistons shadowing Kobe. :)

That picture makes it look like Kobe started shit with a group of guys and is now trying to walk away, while the group is aboot to kick his ass. look at everyone except Hunter, they all have that "what motherfucker" look on their faces.

Hunter looks like he was or is about to start mocking Kobe behind his back.

The Lakers don't need Cooks and Russells, they need aggressiveness, defense and good legs. On four out of five posessions you're likely to see four Lakers on offense, five Pistons on defense and one Laker player making his way past halfcourt after the ball has been there for a good five or six seconds. The end result of that is a fade away jumper with four seconds left on the shot clock.

I heard on Sportscenter that someone on the Lakers said that they need to hit somebody. I remember everyone saying that during the Spurs series, but this aint that series. Why don't they try getting in position to to hit someone first? Maybe in mid-air they'll change their mind and decide to block a shot or get a hand up or something (I'm looking at Shaq). Layups are harder to make when you're worried about them getting blocked.

Rip fucking Hamilton is the leading offensive rebounder in this series. That will happen when you stand around and wait for a rebound to come to you.

Phil Jackson should just throw fresh bodies at Rip Hamilton to frustrate him. Kareem Rush was losing Rip Hamilton when he was guarding him. I watched Rip Hamilton run in and out of traffic all night. I would just sub in person after person to guard Rip Hamilton. They should try Kobe on Chauncey and let Paytin chase Rip on the screens. Phil Jackson also needs to use fucking timeouts. In last night's game I can think of several times when the game was about to get out of hand when he didn't call a timeout. I know that he believes in letting players work themselves out of jams, but he needs to be more active since he is the coach afterall. I can't even remeber how many timeouts were called by the Lakers last night but I don't remember many being called. When Phil was with the Bulls, I remember him using the clock better to get Jordan rest. Why doesn't he do it now?

BTW... did anyone see Malone poking a guy in the face before the game started? Well, I'm watching the Detroit news right now and apparently, that fan has contacted police and they're now investigating the situation. Hopefully the Detroit police will arrest Karl Malone and keep scum like that off the streets. ^_^

What the Lakers really need to do is get away from their triangle offense. The Triangle is all about floor spacing, and when your already spreding out BEFORE THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM IN THE LEAGUE starts messing up your spacing, you're really screwing yourself.

Have a little faith in Payton and let him run the offense a little.

Also it seems that nobody the Lakers have can guard Billups. Everyone they stick on him just blows them away. He even blew past Kobe.

And Prince seems to be able to defend anyone on The Lakers and The Pistons managed to guard Shaq VERY well in Game 3.

I really don't see The Lakers having a chance at all in this series. They're finished. Time to disband and try again with an actual team rather than individuals.

It's like Byron Scott said. LA has only looked good in 2 of the 12 quarters played. Detroit has dominated 10 of 12. They weren't rattled by playing in LA and they weren't rattled by a heartbreaking loss.

The only thing that can save The Lakers bacon right now is Phil Jackson. He is seriously the scariest weapon the Lakers have. The man could have a stroke of genius tomorrow and come up with a plan that destroys The Pistons. That's the only thing that worries me. Then again he's not sitting across the floor from Byron Scott this time. He's looking at Larry f'n Brown.

This blind Laker hatred is getting on my nerves. A better team is not necessarily a more talented one. Rip, get off SCorliss's jock strap. He got packed by Kobe fucking Bryant, a GUARD. Also, the Lakers' less-talented bench outscored the Pistons' bench. Lushus read my damn post. I said Detroit is better. I still do hope the Lakers come back and win this series. Just to shut you fuckers up. This was the Lakers worst playoff loss ever, every sane Laker fan admits that. But somehow that's not enough. Somehow you people want me to act like the Lakers did everything they could to win and got bitched. 25 points combined for the two best players in the league is not only good defense. Shaq was 7-14. If he got 25 shots, that's another 10-12 points, and maybe THEN he could've gone to the line a little more. The Pistons took care of Kobe completely. But you can't do that AND deny Shaq the ball. The Lakers went away from Shaq voluntarily... and inexplicably. I'm praying for a Laker blowout win to be followed by the expected complaints of biased officiating even though the foul and free throw discrepencies last night were big.

Don't say that! It'll jynx everything and the Laker's will go on a 3 game win streak similar like San Antonio.

I really think this series may go 7.

Oh I'd love to see them defeat LA in Game 7 in front of all there movie star bitch fans so they can cry about it. Oh that'd be glorious!

And Spicy the Laker hatred is in response to the sickening blind Laker love the rest of us have been subjected to all season long. Even still I'm hearing idiot Laker fans call up and go "Well now is where Detroit will prove themselves! They still haven't proven they are better than the Lakers!" When if the situation was flip flopped and it was Laker domination The Lakers fans would be declaring it over! Well guess what Laker fans. It's been nothing but Pistons domination. Sorry that's the way it is....learn to like it.

Like Rasheed Wallace said before yesterday's game, this series isn't going back to LA. The Lakers are toast. They just don't have enough healthy bodies to compete with the Pistons.

Pistons in Five.

So, what should the Lakers do to improve for next year ?

Nobody needs Laker fans to verify that the Lakers had their worst playoff loss ever, there's numbers for that.

Spicy, the Lakers are one fluke Kobe three from being on the verge of a sweep here. Detroit was OWNED them. LA might have the two best players --- but the talent drop off after that is precipitous.

Up to this point, Detroit has been better in every category. They don't NEED only two guys to do ALL of the work.

Unless LA figures something out, this might only go 5. Heck, it should have only gone 4.

-=Mike
