alfdogg Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I also am at a loss for words at the utter dumbfuckery of the Nets leaving Kerry Kittles unprotected.
Steviekick Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I also am at a loss for words at the utter dumbfuckery of the Nets leaving Kerry Kittles unprotected. Especially since he stopped being the injury prone guy he was early in his career.
alfdogg Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Here's the full article if any of you feel like doing a LOT of reading.
Steviekick Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Crap...all the Jazz' moderately effectively priced centers are available. We may be stuck with Ostertag some more.
bobobrazil1984 Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Crapola to that LA Times article. I think if Phil takes their advice it could bump up the LA team (Malone and Payton have been the obvious weak links in this series for LA). I just don't want Detroit to be caught by surprise and lose... NO PHIL! it's just execution! You don't NEED to make any major adjustments! YOU DONT NEED IT!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!
Guest Seven Sins Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Would it really make any difference to do that though? I mean, Sure Kobe,Shaq,Fox,George and Fisher could say they are the reason they won the title three years straight, but i don't think the Pacers,Nets or Sixers had a Defense like the Pistons. Hell, The Pistons would still double team Shaq and Kobe, Fisher would still get pressured and the Pistons would basically still steam roll them because the Lakers don't have the intensity to win like the Pistons do. I guess what i'm trying to say is, Either way with or without Malone/Payton unless the lakers start playing like they want to be the NBA Champions again, they are Screwed, as the Pistons are the Better Team.
The Electrifyer Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Wasn't the triangle offense with Shaq/Bryant/Fisher/Fox/George(Not sure) what they used vs. San Antonio last year? And if they got whooped by San An last year, Detroit still won't have too much of a problem stopping them defensively.
Damaramu Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Phil's tried every guy off of his bench and they are all getting dominated by Detroit. Changing the starting lineup won't do much IMO. Detroit will still hassle them on defense. And they still don't have anybody that can stop Billups. You think Fisher has a shot against Billups!? HA! And even if it does work it'll only work for one game because Larry Brown will just sit down and figure out what went wrong and counter it. In this series The Lakers have at best a temporary one game solution that can get them a win in one game but not the series. I'm actually wondering if I should pick LA tonight. I mean if they're going to win a game in Detroit then this is it. If not they're finished.
Steviekick Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I keep saying it over and over again, but the Triangle does not work when playing against the Pistons. What happens is the Lakers set themselves up with lots of spacing to accomodate passing/pushing the ball. They get themselves already spaced out, Detroit get set defensively and pushes them even farther. Lakers than can't pass out the ball, and get stuck with really shitty shots. No one gets open because they are too far away.

godthedog Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 i don't see how this will work. george is spotty on offense, nobody on the team has proven they can stop chauncey billups, and unless kobe runs around the court like a chicken with its head cut off again, they can't stop hamilton. they have a chance of throwing detroit off with this early in the game, getting into their rhythm IMMEDIATELY to set up a big lead, and hold on to that lead dearly by just trying to outscore them. but that's only for one game.
Damaramu Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 On another note I downloaded the old NBA theme music. The one that was retired a few years ago. Jeez that music brings back memories. I'm having flashes in my head of Scotty Pippen and John Stockon doing things. Ah! There's Shawn Kemp! Hehe.....memories of the 90's it does bring back.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 Tha NBA on NBC theme song was great. What's sad is the fact that I don't even know what the song is for ABC, ESPN or TNT. The only song that I think of when I think of basketball on these networks is that awful B.E.P. song.
Damaramu Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 And did that article say that they want Fox on Sheed? Ummm.......if they do that then I expect Rasheed's big game the moment they do. He doesn't have a prayer.

He doesn't have a prayer. Maybe he'll get his wife to flash Sheed... Maybe......the bastard. He's not even that good and he gets to go home and have sex with Vanessa Williams......bastard! Knowing sheed though he'll get a technical for saying something like "Damn Fox that bitch got some titties! But they ain't nothing compared to this shot I'm about to take on your punk ass motherfucker!" *Sheed proceeds to knock down a 3 to widen the lead to 50*

The only theme song i know of for the NBA is the playoffs/finals thing with the "24 seconds to live" comment. Until now i really wasn't aware ESPN,TNT,ABC had a theme song for the NBA.
Steviekick Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 The more I hear the Black Eyed Peas' NBA song the more its grown on me.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 I think it's only appropriate at the start of the game. Since it is called, "Let's Get it Started." I don't need to hear it at 2 in the morning when the next game isn't for another twpo days.
Damaramu Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 God dammit! I have to tape the game and watch it later! I skipped out on going over to the girl I'm datings house on Friday so I promised I'd come over to her house tonight and watch the WWE PPV with her to make up for Friday night......and that means I miss the basketball game! Oh well it should still be going whenever the PPV is over. But still.....

The more i look at it and think it over, i just realized the PPV is screwed, watch a wrestling PPV or watch the NBA finals game 4?
ant_7000 Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 NBA on ABC had the Justin Timberlake "Cant get Enough" theme during the regular season, which is cool but isn't as good then NBC verision. Fuck ABC, for only showing 15 games a year when NBC showed 40+ games. Now, I need cable to watch the games during the week. The Pistons could use alot pick and rolls tonight, Sheed sets a pick for Billups, Payton hasn't fought thru a pick yet, Billups will blow by Payton and Malone will try defend Billups off the pick but is too slow to help. Second option for the Pick and Roll Sheed sets pick for Billups and if Malone commits to Billups, Billups could kick out to Sheed for an open shot, Malone will be too slow to comeback to contest Sheed's shot and Payton is too short to contest the shot as well.

Ewing! It's the NBA on NBC! Yes them's was the days, them was. Actually, the ESPN themes are pretty cool, both the pregame/postgame and in-game theme. I want a copy of them, if anyone knows where one can get them. TNT is just kinda there, and ABC just uses "Let's Get It Started" or a generic rap beat. Big step down.
Steviekick Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 TNT's is ok, but they always have it being played very low and someone talking over it. I do like their pre-game video packages.

The Fett Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Anyone check the nba.com website? Could they make it any more obvious who they want to win?
Guest El Satanico Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Of course, the Lakers winning is better for their image.
Steviekick Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Of course, the Lakers winning is better for their image. And for merchandise sales.
Black Lushus Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 folks, I think the main question of tonight's game has to be....what the HELL is Tom Tolbert wearing???
Guest OraleHolmes Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 The Lakers should be up 20 at halftime with the way Detroit is shooting. the free throw shooting discrepancy is ridiculous. Karl Malone gets mugged on his way to the basket and no foul? Yet the Lakers are getting called for ticky tack fouls 35 feet away from the basket? The fix is in. Pistons in 5.
