Most frustrating bugs..

I'm playing LMA Manager 2002 for PS2 a lot at the moment and one bug is annoying the hell out of me. Basically, when I load a saved game, some of my players change position but their stats dont change with it (for example, a keeper will become a midfielder but have no passing skills).

It got me thinking - what are the worst or most annoying bugs you've found in a video game?

The great data-erasing bug in No Mercy (N64) bit me 3 times and pissed me off more each time because I had gotten further in story mode each time. That's probably the worst one I've had affect me.

My All-Star Baseball 2000 game used to have problems adding up stats correctly as a season went on, but I don't know if that's the result of a bug or just a deteriorating cart battery or something.

Old PSX 3D games where you get trapped outside the game zone and have no choice put to reset because you can move but you're in a black/glitch screen and have no way to return to the game.. Legecy of Kain had this problem

Here's two annoying ones, one more infamous than the other.

1. In Megaman 3, when you're fighting Gemini Man in the Dr. Wily level, there's a way to kill the second copy of Gemini Man on the transporter pad so that you're stuck in the level and have to reset.

2. In Mission Impossible for the Atari 7800, there was a bug in the program that will hide items behind computer terminals, which are objects that CANNOT be searched. As a result, the game is un-winnable.

MK Gold is a pretty glitchy game, especially the first run of it. It's one of the few console games that is so glitchy they have to fix it and ship a new version.

Some of the best...

The save system is mentioned in the booklet and is in the menu of the game but doesn't work. It has load/save options and everything...they're just disabled.

Picking Noob in his alt outfit crashes the game.

The game will just randomly reset.

The camera will occasionally zoom in on a wall.

Even the second version is messed up. They fixed the major glitches, but kept in the smaller errors. There's still a bunch of graphical glitches, like things disapearing.

The one I remember most is the GT2 test course bug. I'm not exactly sure how it worked, but if you took a car to test course, often when you went back to your garage something was really messed up. The top car in the garage often had like 4988 HP and 0 weight, and wouldn't accelerate when you told it to, and sometimes weird red ribbons appeared on the screen. It was really annoying, too, because it made it so that you couldn't use test course if you didn't want to mess up your cars. Test course was a big part of GT1 for me since it let me tweak cars to get a good acceleration/top speed balance, and not being able to do that was pretty annoying.

Isn't there a bug or a flaw in one of the GTs where you cannot beat the game? Like it just stays at 99% forever?

WrestleMania 2000 for the N64. I let my friends borrow it for the night while I went to work, I came back the next day to find out everything was erased. Turns out a controller wasn't working correctly so the guy with the bad controller took out the controller and blew into the controller port. He put it back in and the N64 made some weird ass noise and everything on that game was lost. We never let his hot ass breath touch another game.

There's a certain save point in GTA: Vice City where if you save at it, you erase your file.

Double Dragon II: I swear that once the life counter glitched and I got infanite lives.

Sometimes in the Ninja Gaidens, there would be walls you could fall through and die.

The freeze of doom on NBA2K3 on Gamecube.

And it only happens once every 2-3 months...and only when one of my players has like 50 points, 30 rebounds, 12 assist, 10 steals, 9 blocks and its the 3rd quarter.

And I thought my boo--er, Hong Kong Special Edition was just a bad copy.

I'm surprised Any hasn't brought up the the various freezes and lock ups in SFII and MKII in the arcade versions. Although I guess bugs you have to go out of the way to get wouldn't count.

Sonic Adventure/bonus stage in Chaotix: Man, it's fun to just FALL THROUGH SOLID FLOORS for no real reason.

I brought up MK II last time this came up. In particular being able to do part of sub-Zero's fatality in the middle of the match in MK II revision 1.4.

There's also some other classic arcade MK glitches, like freeplay glitches in MK3 and UMK3. They were fixed though.

NBA Live 2004 - The game has a glitch, where you can be called for out-of-bounds, because your player went THROUGH the backboard, this is mostly in the low-post area when you try for dunks and such. It's really annoying.

Not really a bug but on MVP 2004 if your infielder loses the ball in the infield it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to see it and you run around until he picks it up.

Pisses me off.

9/10 whenever I have a long match with Angle, the disc starts making in INCREDIBLY loud clicking noise, and the in game music and crowd reactions go silent.

Sometimes it does this if I play for too long.

LOW II:

I was one match away from finishing the whole game and everything just fucks up, then freezes a few minutes later, erasing all my data.

I hate that if the ball is hit to somebody BESIDES the player you control, they don't field the ball. Real irksome.

that's what you get for playing a game called Mission Impossible.

This was more just a annoying co-incidence then a bad bug, but what the hell.

On my copy of GTA:VC, my sister somehow managed to frig up one of her save files, so that it'd go to the loading screen, and would even say load complete, but then just stay black. That's no big deal, as I'm told there are a number of ways that can happen (all of which I've avoided).

The big deal was that the game would automatically load HER game up as soon as I turned it on. I forget if it was because it was the last game played, or if it was in a certain spot...but every time, it loaded her game. So I turned on my PS2, waited, waited, waited...game loaded and...NOTHING.

I had no friggin' clue what was wrong with it. I was ready to take my copy of GTA:VC back to the store before my buddy suggested trying to load it without the memory card in there.

Smart man, he is.

MVP baseball 2004: There's a few, when the computer makes a sliding catch in the outfield the ball always hits the ground first and then ends up in his glove when you watch the replay. Also the e-mail system I keep getting e-mails about some leading the league with 30 homers or whatever when the leader has 51 and about 20 other players have 30 or more.

I remember playing NHL 94 (I believe, coulda been 95) for the SNES back in the day. I was playing against my cousin, and he ran into my goalie while carrying the puck, getting himself a 2 minute interferance penalty... but because running into the goalie knocks you over, the puck became loose, and slid into the net. Despite the fact a penalty was called AGAINST him and play had STOPPED, the puck crossing the goal line caused the sirens to go off and give him a point. Stupid coding.

Yeah, that is a little baffling. I have a guy hit 10 and get an e-mail about him leading the majors --- when I already have a guy with 20.

Yep. It was in GT2, and it was because they originally planned a drag racing section, but dumped it last minute, so when you win every race and every trophy, the game says you have only completed something like 98.3% I think they fixed it in later releases of the game.

Something similar happened to me once in NHL 94. I was playing my brother and got a penalty called against me but hadn't touched the puck yet. I manage to get the puck in his zone, stopping the play. As always, we wanted to bodycheck each other after the whistle, so I shot the puck away so I could check. Imagine our surprise when the puck sails past the goalie and into the net for a goal. I still got the penalty though.
