Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit Story DVD

Recommended Posts

Wait is this DVD actually hitting the U.S. also or is that only a U.K. release?

Looks pretty swank...especially the Pillman memorial match. My only problem is the Cage Match, seeing as the only distinguishing features of the match are already on Bloodbath.

Still...Buy buy buy!

Sounds killer.

Too bad I already have Benoit/Angle RR03 and the WrestleMania triple threat on DVD.

Oh well, the rest will make up for it.

I wonder if they'll show the complete IWGP title match? I already have it but it'd be nice to see. I just hope they have an option of the original Japanese track because I don't want the beauty of the Japanese matches to be altered. I only want the masses to see them in their true form. And speaking of commentary don't put any on Benoit vs Regal! Leave that masterpiece of a match as it is.

Highly unlikely, I believe. Two audio tracks on three different matches should be the final result. The only WWF/E release with three different audio tracks was WM2000, only for the Euro-Continental match, and maybe the SummerSlam 1999 DVD, on the main event, although I'm not 100% sure about that one since I don't own it. Several other PPV releases had the english and spanish commentary but lately they only put the original track, with the exception of the WMXX DVD. Bottom line, I think a third audio track would occupy much-needed disc space. But it would be a neat surprise, though not likely since it would only be wanted by the smart audience, not the general fan.

Regarding the Pillman show match, I've never seen it, but I'm sure there are bootleg copies around, or is there a video available, and does it have commentary?

When I picked up hall of Fame today, they had "Chris Benoit July 2004" listed in the coming soon section.

So either it's coming out in the US or they're teasing us.

And no match with Malenko? Aww, I'm sure the Eddie DVD will more than make up for the lack of Malenko.

Well, at least we have two Deano matches on the Mysterio DVD.

I skipped that one. Maybe I'll see it somwhere for 6 bucks or something. I'll get it for Deano.

PS. when is this cocksucker released?

Skip the Foley DVD, cynicalprofit. It sucks.

Nonsense. Its worth the cash to have a lot of that stuff on dvd. His ECW is exceptionally memorable from a first time viewers perspective. I really haven't gotten into much of the second disk outside of the Austin match, but in the long run the disk is worth owning.

It seems like a great DVD. If I dont spend my money I could probably buy for the ECW, WCW and Pillman show match(s). I dont like the name "Hard Knocks" for some reason, but atleast they didnt call it "Toothless Agression"

Awesome DVD, especially the Japan matches, the Pillman Memorial match and Owen Tribute match.

I am a little disappointed that the Austin match from May 01 is not on there. I've been waiting forever to see that match again and I thought for sure they're put it on a Benoit DVD.

O well, the rest looks awesome.

Mate, that looks pretty awesome. I've never actually bought a wrestler-tribute DVD, but there is a good chance that trend could be broken now. Hard Knocks is a cool name for it too I reckon. The ONLY thing I'm somewhat surprised isn't on there is a Dynamite Kid match with Chris commentating or something.

Gotcha...

I wasn't sure which Best of 7 match they took (i don't remember who won which)...

Six? Wow.

but two of those six matches were ****3/4+...so it's ok.

The scorpio match is a odd one...I mean...It's not a LEGENDARY match and Benoit had many other ***3/4 matches...kinda shocked they put it on when they could have easily stuck a more recent WWE Match on there (such as his Fully Loaded Match with the Rock or the jericho ladder match)...

I'm VERY happy with the ontent of that DVD. I'll certainly be buying it as soon as it comes out down here. I havent seen much of Benoits work in Japan or ECW, so I'm really loking forward to this.

As for the Foley DVD, I loved it. I hadn't seen his ECW stuff and the Cane Dewey Promo befoe I got the DVD, only heard about them. The DVD was awesome, i definately recommend that anyone buys it if they are a fan of Foley.

The GAB match was the final match in the Best of Seven series even though it was the eighth match due to the controversy of the last match held on Thunder.

Match #4 is on the MNW DVD.

Anyone know who actually got to pick the matches?

If not for the blur crap, I'm sure the Ultimate Submission match would have been on there, its one of Benoit's favorites.
