Last Comic Standing 2!

Recommended Posts

PLEASE let it be Jay London. The rest of them would just be taking up space.

Hell, I say let people eliminated in the finals come back. It'd make just as much sense. Bring back Naturman! Bring back Norton! And Ahdoot! And Wiggins! I'd rather see any of them get to the final 6 than Boonie, Tood, and especially Ant.

News on LCS3 from Reality News Online

Last Comic Standing 3: What to Expect? The Official Word

by Dale Sherman -- 07/19/2004

Last Comic Standing 2 has done so well for NBC that they plan to bring the show back for a new season on August 28. RealityNewsOnline has the OFFICIAL word on what is planned for Last Comic Standing 3 from executive producer and host Jay Mohr himself.

As many readers know by know from our report last week, NBC has been so happy with the ratings – not to mention an Emmy nomination – for LCS2, that they have asked for a new season of the series to be apart of their fall schedule.

Sounds great, but it means that a third season of the show is set to premiere on August 31, only two and a half weeks after the end of the current season. This naturally brings up the question for fans: How the heck are they going to put together a new season for the show in that short of time when it had taken five months or more to put together each of the previous two? While there has been some speculation on the internet about this, there had been no official word about what to expect.

Until now.

We were able to contact Jay Mohr this weekend and he gave us the okay to announce some of the plans being worked on for the next season. Keep in mind that the show is still in development at this time, so some aspects of the show could still change in the following weeks. Nevertheless, here is what we can tell you right now:

One thing that is a solid about the show is that the object of the “contest” will be, as Jay told us, “last year’s house versus this year’s house.” This means that the comics of the first season will be competing against the comics of the second season in a series of comedy head-to-heads each episode. This will no doubt make fans of some of the many comics that filled up the house in LCS1 happy, but also give the fans of LCS2 a chance to see their favorites be given a second chance as well.

That’s a big change in the format of the show, but that’s not the most exciting transformation to occur on the program. One of the comments that fans have had about both LCS1 & LCS2 is feeling a bit frustrated in not being able to vote for the comics until the end of the series when only a few remain – especially when a favorite got voted out before reaching the final head-to-head. That will not be a problem LCS3, however, as Jay sprung the news that “America votes every episode” for their favorites.

And what about immunity challenges? There won’t be any this time. Nor will there be a lot of time spent showing the comics living together. Why? Because it’ll be just pure stand-up – no challenges, no schemes, no backbiting. No place to hide this time; everyone is going up for the head-to-heads in the weeks to come, and the home-viewers will get the final say each week on who they believe is the funniest comics of each episode, and ultimate who of the many comics from both season they believe is the LAST COMIC STANDING.

Sounds like it’s going to be a thrilling match-up to watch and I’m sure fans of either and/or both series are going to look forward to it. Stay tuned to LCS2 to see who might make it to LCS3, and keep checking back to us here at RNO for more details about the new show as they come available!

Special thanks to Jay Mohr for his help here!

This should be interesting. Any of the other "top ten" comics could wipe the floor with Dat Phan, I think.

I'm relatively sure that I could wipe the floor with Dat Phan.

Can't wait to see Heffron or Alonzo take on Dat in the head to head.

"And with a score of 100, John Heffron!"

Although I'm disappointed about the immunity challenges being out. I really enjoyed the sitcom one in both seasons.

I like the idea of season versus season though. I get Rich Vos and DAVE MORDAL~! back.

Dave Mordal finally gets his revenge...

Really, though, is this even a fair fight? The talent level in the second house is quite a bit higher than in the first. Any of the top three in the LCS2 house (Bodden, Heffron, Madigan) could obliterate not only Dat, but Ralphie May, Cory Kahaney, Rich Vos, or any of them. Especially, if they're still using the same material.

Minor spoilers ahead, to the point where I don't think I need to red it out, but I will anyways...

Last Comic Standing 2: The Final Twist?

by Dale Sherman -- 07/21/2004

NBC.com just listed rules for the "Wildcard" head-to-head on July 27th. In doing so, they gave away the final twist of the series. Want to know more and what it'll mean to viewers voting at home? Click here for more details.

Word just reached us here at RealityNewsOnline about the rules pertaining to the voting for the "Wildcard" episode to occur on July 27th for Last Comic Standing 2. Those rules can be found by clicking here.

In setting these rules up, NBC.com appears to have also given away the final "twist" of the series. Here's a quote from the rules:

Voting is simple and easy. To vote, simply watch the five ousted comics of "Last Comic Standing" perform on the show on Tuesday, July 27, the final six comics on Tuesday, August 3, and the final three comics on Tuesday, August 10, all on NBC. Then you may vote for your favorite comic by telephone or on-line.

So instead of a final five, or even a final six, we will end up instead with a "Final Three" for the very last head-to-head of the season. This will certainly make the final numbers more competitive for whoever makes it to the very last round. It also could avoid a situation where one comic ends up getting more votes because all of the other votes were split amongst a variety of people.

Here's what the schedule means to viewers at home that may wish to vote:

July 27: The "Wildcard" episode where all five voted-out comics will compete for a wildcard slot in the final rounds of head-to-heads. This will be a chance for viewers to vote for either Bonnie, Todd, ANT, Jay, or Corey.

July 29 (special Thursday episode): The reveal is done for the winner of the wildcard. If the information at NBC.com is correct, no further voting will be done at this time.

August 3: The "Final Six" will compete in an hour-long episode for the "Final Three" spots. Viewers will get to vote for either Tammy, Kathleen, Alonzo, John, Gary, or the "wildcard" winner to make the "Final Three."

August 10: A reveal will be done to show who the "Final Three" are. The three will then do a final head-to-head. Viewers will then get to vote for who they want of the final three to win the competition.

August 12 (special Thursday episode): This will probably be a two-hour finale, much like last year, featuring the ten comics being interviewed by Jay, and then the final reveal to the winner of the show.

Once again, RNO will report more updates as they come available.

I thought he bombed, but then again, I haven't really laughed at much he's done.

Bonny has no flow to her set at all. The guys would vote for her if she didn't look like a crackhead, and I'm sure that women are ashamed of her.

Really, why was Bonnie put in the house in the first place? Ok, she's the "bitchy" character of the house, but it lasted all of one episode, and she's JUST NOT FUNNY. None of the WC comics are impressing me right now.

Man, he's too self-depreciating. If he didn't do that his set would be a lot better. 8/10. -1 for the "please like me, I suck" stuff. The crowd was digging him as it was, there was no need for it.

That and his repeating of jokes are the worst parts. I don't like his acts.

The Mastercard finish went well. If Jay does not go to the finals I think he has a future on Tough Crowd. Out of this group the only 2 people that I think can do well on Tough Crowd would be Jay and Alonzo.

I just voted for Todd Glass.

Ant annoys me too much to make me vote for him, or even listen to him.

Understandable, man.

I voted for ANT...

I voted for Todd with all three of mine.

Almost all of Corey's jokes are about girls and mooching.

Bonnie is fucking terrible.

Jay isn't going to win anyway.

Ant is fucking annoying.

Todd had the best set by default, and I want him to win so that none of the four best (Alonzo, John, Kathleen and Gary) get knocked out.

One of those four is guaranteed to get knocked out, as only 3 comics go on to the finals. Barring a disastrous set, I think Alonzo and John have their tickets punched and ready to go. For me, it's really between Kathleen and Gary for my 3rd vote.
